The Thief: A Dark, Vigilante, Standalone Romance (The Soldiers of Anarchy Book 5) Kindle Edition

4.6 out of 5 stars 368 ratings

Five… minutes. That’s how long I was supposed to be there. Get in, get out. Job done.

Four… guns pointed at my head. It wasn’t supposed to go down this way.

Three… years old, and she clung to her mum as we sat huddled together on the floor, chained to the pipes on the wall.

Two… choices, when my time finally came. To let it all play out or fight with everything I had.

One… split second that changed the course of my life… forever.

My name is Tyler Evans. They call me
The Thief. But on that day, the last thing I expected to become was the hostage.

The Thief is a dark, standalone romance set in the Soldiers of Anarchy world. You do not need to read the other books in the series to enjoy this story. Please read the trigger warnings at the beginning of the book before starting this journey.

Dang, I can’t believe the series has come to an end but oh my goodness such a good book. The way the story turned out oh my gosh, it starts out amazing and shows how everything started and how the boys became a group of friends to family and it’s just the most amazing series there is and how Jess and Tyler came back together that magical faithful morning it’ll keep you on your seat And let’s just say an emotional roller coaster that is just awesome. Instant family from that faithful day to the most amazing ending I’m not gonna lie. I would love to see how this ties everything together and see how everybody’s doing and what that final job would be. And see how everybody else comes along because I think there’s something that she left out for us. I don’t know it’s just a little clue that I picked up one. Love your work Nikki

There’s a whole daddy theme here and the story will want to make you cry. The book is a standalone, but it’s also the final book in the series so there’s a lot that ties in from the previous books.
This book builds on trauma bonds and is intentionally cheesy and dramatic, because sometimes you just want something over the top and fun. There are some plot holes but if you don’t think too hard about it you won’t spot them. This book is meant to force you through an emotional gambit to bring you to an HEA without requiring strenuous thought and I think it accomplishes that goal very well.

I’ve loved this series so much that I put off reading this book because I didn’t want it to end! It was a perfect ending though. I’ve loved all of the guys but seeing one of them with a little girl just turned me into a puddle! Ava and Tyler were just adorable and Jess is a total firecracker! The way everyone’s backstory all tied together was surprising and wonderfully written. I loved seeing how they all ended up and I’m really going to miss The Soldiers!

This was such a breath of fresh air to read! I thoroughly enjoyed reading about Tyler and the rest of the Soldiers of Anarchy!

Reading from how Tyler grew up until he met the other boys, I was swooning as to how amazing he turned out! He is the epitome of a morally grey man. I love the plot twist when he met Jess and Ava during a bank robbery. I love how naturally it was for him to be the overly protective man they both needed!

It's definitely a book I will recommend to those who love to read about Bad Boys with good intentions! I did she'd a tear for their heartwarming story. If anyone deserved a love like they have, Tyler , Jess, and Ava deserve it!

This is a Slow-burn romance, but it was worth the wait bc that scene in the Schmex club was so hot!! Jess is a good girl with an inner bad girl in bed! The praise he gives her just melts my heart!

This is a standalone with interconnected characters. I can't wait to read about the other men of the Soldiers of Anarchy!

@nikkijsummersauthor I will cherish these characters forever!

Every time I read a book from the soldiers of anarchy series I think, “this is the best book in this series” and then I read the next book and somehow this author gives me a ‘hold my beer’ moment … and I am once again left in awe at how beautiful this series has been.

In The Thief, our beloved thief/hacker/bad boy with a good head on his shoulders finally gets his moment with Jess, a single mom of a three-year-old spitfire named Ava. The found family within this series, but this book in particular, was everything my heart needed.

As with many books by this author, come for the plot, but stay for that spice because when it hits … your knees will be weak!

This was beautiful, heartbreaking and heartwarming all at once. If I could give this 500 stars, I would.

This is the 5th book in The Soldiers of Anarchy series and it’s by far my favorite. I’m not going to lie, I’m surprised it’s my favorite. Tyler was never really on my radar from the other books. I though Colton was my favorite and that would never change. Boy was I wrong! Tyler is everything. I cried a few times in this book. Once when Dan was telling his story and then when Adam gave his speech. I’m emotionally invested in this world. Is it really ending? Can my heart really handle that? Then there is Abs from the end and my mind is wondering. Could there be a spin-off series? Could I see the soldiers again? I know this really isn’t a review but I just don’t want it to end. These boos are so good!

I truly loved this book. There’s just an ease in how Nikki writes that comes across through her characters. They’re so cool, calm and collected. She makes it look so easy, yet I’ve done it myself and read countless others and ITS HARD!! the story is beautiful. The romance is exactly how I like it. Her characters are definitely my favorite.

Where do I start.... this series has been my favourite for a while now since I found the Psycho and binged the other 4 stories. The reaper, the joker, the player, and now the last one, the thief

Jess, Ava, and Tyler's story is incredibly well written. The right amount of spice, *the shower and playroom scenes were 10/10* the right amount of love, cuteness, angst and revenge ❤️

Brinton Manor and its 5 soldiers will live in my heart and mind forever

I loved the plot twists, the connections, and even the semi cliffhanger with Abigail and her husband at the end. *not a cliffhanger to the story, really*
Hmm, I wonder if there is a book there to come?

Nikki creates such an imaginable world, one that sucks you in and you happily live there with the characters

I loved that Adam/Liv, Will/Bryony, Colton/Shenley and Devon and Leah May were all included in this book, and their happily ever afters didn't split up the soldiers and stop them being who they were meant to be!!! Besides finding new families, they still stick together and yet live the lives they built and deserve. I was worried it would end with them retiring fully and never being together as the soldiers, but Nope, Nikki wouldn't do that to us or to these incredible boys and their partners

Also Tyson and Tiny being around still, especially with Eva was so cute 😍

The bank robbery scenes were well written, the plot twist was *chefs kisses* 10/10 writing and plot. I guessed one thing and nope it was even better

Again, Nikki, thank you, for creating Brinton Manor and the soldiers. Thank you for sharing these stories and thanks for making me cry 😄

Oh I will miss Adam, Will, Colton, Devon and Tyler but you bet I will be back to re read and join in on their story again

5.0 out of 5 stars The final chapter of the soldiers of Anarchy
Reviewed in Canada on August 4, 2024
This was exactly what indeed from this book.it allowed the most beautiful and wholesome close of a rather dark and wonderful series. From the start type is who your want him to be this little teen just looking for someone to pay attention, someone to see him, that's what Jess and her father do, but also more truthfully that's what Adam does when he recruits Tyler to the soldiers. Jess as a kid was this feisty no holds bar girl and as she grew up the kept kicking her until she no longer had the fight and was surviving. After swing Tyler again in the worst circumstances for the both, they work together to build up and move forward. This was a fantastic story with great plot line.

5.0 out of 5 stars Saved the best for last!
Reviewed in Australia on May 29, 2024
"The Thief" by the gorgeous Nikki J Summers, who I adore beyond words is the finale to the Soldiers of Anarchy series, and Nikki was not playing - she saved the best for last! Nikki is one of my unicorn of all unicorn authors and a talented writing genius. She has built this world with such depth and colour that I’m instantly transported back to Brinton Manor, and I never want to leave. She never fails to serve the best and twistiest plots, suspense, emotions, humour, and epic banter in her stories, all while giving you a swoony romance at its core. Tyler and Jess's story is everything! and I loved everything about them!
Tyler Evans and Jessica Porter, who are thrown together 14 years after they first met. From their childhood encounters to a life-changing bank robbery and the formation of their unique little family, Tyler and Jess’s journey is beautifully crafted. The theme of family and loyalty shines through, and the pursuit of justice by the Soldiers is as gripping as ever. The plot twists were as twisty as ever and truly unexpected and kept me hooked until the very end.

As with all the books in the series, we meet Tyler as a child around 14 years old and how he comes to meet the other Soldiers at the Pupil Referral Unit. Their horrible home lives bond them, forming their own family and brotherhood. On his first day, he is reprimanded by Adam for swiping a wallet from the undeserving Alfie Porter. When he goes to return it, he is confronted by Jess, Alfie’s daughter, who isn’t afraid to tell Tyler what she thinks. They meet again on the way home, and you just get a hint that these two are 100% endgame.

Fast forward 14 years, and Tyler & Jess’s reunion at a bank soon turns into a life-changing experience as an armed robbery takes place, changing their lives forever. Tyler takes on the role of stepping up as a father figure for Jess's daughter Ava, forming a beautiful little family. The recurring theme of found family is beautifully depicted. The pursuing hunt and chase of the robbers by the Soldiers takes you to the heart of their mission, and it was satisfying seeing them enforce their own justice with the added personal element to it.

Of course, for me being the audiobook fan, I was reading this with my favourite Brit, the legendary Shane East in my head and I cannot wait to hear him bring Tyler to life in like only he can.

Overall, this book was the perfect conclusion to an incredible series, providing closure and happiness for all the characters we’ve come to love. There are hints and teases of other characters, leaving the door open for more adventures in Brinton Manor. If you're a fan of dark romance, with cheeky London Bad Boys with hearts of gold for their ladies and family, in a gritty UK setting, with equal parts plot and spice, you will love this series. All the stars in the galaxy!

    4.0 out of 5 stars ✍️ 𝑨𝑹𝑪 𝑹𝑬𝑽𝑰𝑬𝑾 ✍️ “THE THIEF” NIKKI J. SUMMERS ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 🌶️🌶️🌶️/5
Reviewed in Italy on May 22, 2024
