Amazon Top 25 and USA Today bestselling author Kayley Loring spent many years as a screenwriter (under a different name) in Los Angeles before moving to the Pacific Northwest to live out her childhood dream of being a Disney heroine who talks and sings to woodland creatures. When not trying to keep animals alive, she’s writing steamy romantic comedy novels, obviously. She’s breathing cleaner air, writing dirtier words, and staring at her computer screen until her eyeballs dry out instead of prancing around Southern California in miniskirts and going to the hair salon. Still waiting for the woodland creatures to clean her house, though.

Read or listen to Kayley’s books when you want to laugh, warm your heart, and enjoy top-notch banter, strong heroines who need to be chased, lovable characters you’d want to know in real life, and swoon over perfectly imperfect book boyfriends.

This was my first holiday story this year. I always pick a few to get a taste of the Christmas spirit, and this is the perfect quick, funny, and steamy read for that.

Jillian's the workaholic, or at least she'll try to sell you on that. Work's her escape, so it's all she has to focus on. When she's stuck on her own for Christmas, she gets a tip from a friend, and rents a cabin in the Catskills. Mitchell is the owner of said cabin, and she makes assumptions about him that are oh, so very wrong, but hilarious anyway. Him? Well, he's sort of a nerd but he makes up for it.

Let's say the Internet connection she needs to work is not very stable, and that he comes in to help fix her hardware. Pun intended. And then there's a connection that goes way beyond her wi-fi.
Some of their moments are awkward, but adorably so. I was smiling for most of it, and that's just what I needed. And, you know, this is Kayley Loring, so I’m going to be getting the feels because I’m weird like that.
It's insta-lovey, the snow and the atmosphere around them help make this a quick, sweet read...
... and then the banter and this thing between them will fog up your windows without even needing a fireplace, and you're gonna be left needing to read more about them.
    Well, I was, anyway.

I've always been a huge Christmas fan, but then stuff happened, and these days I need to be reminded that there really is a certain magic to it. That maybe anything can happen. Kayley gave me that magic with this book, and my heart is full.
Oh yeah, and there is also a dog! :)

Kayley’s books just tickle me. I'm not a lover of Rom Coms but I have such a special place for her books. Wait, that sounds wrong. I meant a special place in my heart.

Anyway, as I read this, I heard Connor Crais and Mackenzie Cartwright and chuckled at every turn.

Even in a short story, Kayley can wield her pen to bring about so much joy (and sexy times).

Couldn't recommend this Xmas Shorty enough!

This is a tale about a woman who does not really like Christmas. And her ex is getting married on Christmas too. Her apartment is getting renovated during the holiday and she is staying locally where a friend told is for rent. The guy renting the spot also had an ex-wife who just got married the month prior. They end up together. And there is a French bulldog that is involved.

I've read so many of this author's books and yet she keeps finding a way to suprise me and keep a smile on my face while reading.

This novella was so sweet but also so damn STEAMY I didn't know if I feel like drinking a hot chocolate or am I just hot 😉

Jillian the workaholic was Jillian the baby talker once she saw that sweet little dog! I could just pictured this strong woman from Manhattan bending over to baby talk to a sweet dog - it was perfect!

Mitchell the cabin and the dog owner (where Jillian reluctantly staying for two days at Christmas) is this geeky, sexy, kind of a clueless (I LOVE THOSE CLUELESS!) type.

I loved the sparks between them and I loved that they had those sparks even before they met!
The dialogue, the banter, of course the TEXTING (Kayley Loring is the queen of texting in books!) And the chemistry was burning more than the fire place! 🔥

I can't wait for the audiobook for this novella - Narrated by Connor Crais and Erin Mallon
(Which I totally had thier voices in my head while reading 😎)

As I said - you can't go wrong with a Kayley Loring's books!

Thank goodness this was short (61 pages and an hour of audio). I listened to this book vs reading the ebook. Yes, I picked this because of the cute Frenchie dog on the cover. The cuteness didn’t last long. I’ve never felt more uncomfortable listening to s3x scenes. The interaction between Conrad and Jillian was awkward from start to finish. The epilogue…wtf. The epilogue is from the dog's point of view in a terrible French accent. I can’t.

Ending on a positive: The male narrator's voice is nice.

This two-star rating is for the dog.

This novella is adorable yet, steamy. Jillian has such an obsession with Agnes, it’s so funny. I know this may be a short love story but it’s cute. Mitchell and Jillian seemed to have found a connection when they both looked into each other’s eyes of their profile pictures. Also, I love that Agnes is the voice of the epilogue.

I’m in love! This gem of a Christmas rom-com has completely stolen my heart. And it’s only partly because of the adorable French bulldog from the title and on the super cute cover. You’re sure to end up wanting Agnes for your own, especially after she steals the spotlight in the epilogue. Her owner is a hot, nerdy ophthalmologist who rents out his cabin in the Catskills to a workaholic paralegal who isn’t particularly fond of Christmas. It’s classic Kayley Loring and filled with her trademark witty banter, strong and yet vulnerable heroine, swoony hero who knows a good thing when he sees it (even if it takes him a minute to figure out how to flirxt), fun texts, undeniable steam and great Zac Efron references. It’s funny, spicy, adorable and all around delightful!

This novella is wonderful and so is the audio! This is my first time hearing Erin Mallon and Connor Crais together and they are a perfect pairing. They expertly bring the heat and the humor. You won’t want to miss this fun holiday listen!

This little novella is only about sixty pages long, but it’s a spicy sweet story. The characters aren’t too well developed, but what can you expect in just 62 pages? There is some witty banter and quite a bit of sex talk, more talk than action actually. It was an okay read for a fall afternoon.

Yes… yes it did. But oh! What a lovely little love story. For someone who claims to be as grinchy as me this story melted my heart. ( might have even made it grow two sizes that day…)
I love Kayley’s books, and this one was a masterpiece in romance.

4 Stars: There is Also a Dog by Kayley Loring is hilarious, sweet, and swoony. We didn’t expect anything less from one of our most beloved writers! A wonderful saucy quick to read and insta-love romance that’ll bring a Christmassy smile to your face. Agnes is ze true star though! One of our most FAVE couples, Maddie and Declan have a mate who’s in a bit of a pickle. Jillian has nowhere to stay over Christmas so rents a cabin from Declan’s friend, Mitchell, which is in the middle of ‘Where even is this place?’ Having never met Mitchell but immediately falling in love with his dog, her imagination runs wild, and Jillian gets spunky. Mitchell is a dream! Hot, nerdy, and funny he completely bowls over Jillian (and us) who becomes a bit of a porn star flirt in his company. We read the entirety of their story with a perma-grin and a lady boner!

It’s just over 60pages long, told in first person duel POV.

As soon as I began reading this one, I immediately knew that it was going to be another fun, festive read from Kayley Loring. The characters were hilarious, the story was the best kind of holiday romance (Who wouldn’t want to be spending their Christmas in a beautiful log cabin?), and it also contained plenty of steam….oh, and I can’t leave out the fact that there was a cute dog! Lol.
My only complaint was that it was a really fast read, but I suppose this was a good book to begin over Christmas as it’s difficult to find the time to read an entire novel. Anyway, this was another book from Kayley that I recommend adding to your TBR.
