Through Titan's Trail: Fabled Quest Chronicles (Book 1) Kindle Edition

4.2 out of 5 stars 292 ratings

Embark on a wild epic fantasy thriller through magic, monsters, and peril.

Through Titan’s Trail (Fabled Quest Chronicles, Book One) begins a fantastic quest series into a legendary world for an epic journey of heroism, mystery, and unrelenting adventure. They encounter far more than elves, centaurs, goblins, minotaurs, and manticores.

Every three years, the Kings' Caravan departs for the legendary city of Atlantea—an adventure only the bravest dare to undertake. Men from the Seven Empires of Pan-Earth gather in Avalonia, the sole gateway to the Magical Lands, for a year-long odyssey through an ancient path created by the Titans themselves. This is not a mere journey; it’s a gamble with one’s life where unimaginable dangers lurk, both mortal and magical, ready to kill all who venture forward.

Under the protection of the Four Kings, the Kings’ Caravan claims to be the sole beacon of safety. But, is such a perilous voyage ever truly safe? Amidst this backdrop of uncertainty, a new alliance forms under a mysterious stranger known as Traveler, who brings an air of intrigue and hope, along with his wolf-dog. But is it really a "dog"? The stakes are as high as the rewards are bountiful, and the line between myth and reality blurs as the caravan pushes toward the limitless riches of Atlantea.

For fans of epic fantasies reminiscent of Lord of the Rings,
Through Titan’s Trail begins an unforgettable tale filled with vivid landscapes, complex characters, and nightmarish encounters. Will you dare to follow this Trail and discover the magic and secrets that await?

Join the adventure and witness the beginning of an extraordinary saga for yourself with the thrilling first installment of the
Fabled Quest Chronicles!

I'm a long time reader of the Liquid Cool series, which is silly and whimsical. The author does a change-over to serious fantasy? Have to try it!

It is good and constantly does the unexpected. I enjoyed it and I'm waiting for the next book. Unpredictable leader with a magic dog? A berserker with indestructable armor and arms. Level headed major domo for the fantastic crew who join in... Total fun and entertainment!

The tale of a challenged caravan on a danger ridden trail led by a mysterious guide. Once every three years a caravan leaves the lands of Man to journey towards the Magical lands far far away. A years trek in fact through some very inhospitable lands where most who begin never see the end. Led by Traveler and his very unique dog, who have made the trip and back, before. That is a rare feat in this world. Treachery and danger confront our group right from the start and that is the mystery that kept me interested. Why do so many not wish this caravan to succeed? They are not the first to try, the trek occurs every three years. so, what's up with this particular group? A nice cast of characters and some unique landscapes make this story very enjoyable. Magic, some battles and who to trust along the way had me reading large chunks of this book at a time. Very enjoyable.

This is a difficult book for me to rate. It had a lot of things technically wrong with it, including PoV changing within the same scene, sometimes even from paragraph to paragraph. The story started from the PoV of Hobb, who I assumed would remain the PoV character who relates this amazing journey with this crazy powerful mystery man. After being with him long enough to solidify this in my head, lots of new characters started showing up and they all got in on the action. However, we only get to know the characters on a surface level. We don't get much in the way of their thoughts, desires, fears, etc. They just relate part of the story and then we pop off to the next person. Even Traveler gets his shot a few times, but it's only so the story can show him doing incredible things which no one else is around to witness. We don't get inside him at all, so it's never clear why he even needs the other people in order to go on this journey. He and his dog can do so many crazy, outlandish things, it's weird he bothered putting together a mass of people to travel to a place he's already been to.

So, you see my confusion when I say, I was eager to read more of the book. I enjoyed the odd, overly formal dialogue, which even the barbarian berserker utilized. I wanted to see what next outlandish stunt Traveler and his dog pulled off. Really, it read like an old mythology story with larger-than-life people smacking down each problem set before them - like Hercules and his tasks.

Will I read the next one in the series? I'm just not sure. I have a pile of books to get through. Maybe when I'm done, I'll pick up the next one. The jury is still out.

This is a wonderful adventure in world building. There is a surprise around every corner and through every portal. The classic journey toward a quest traveled with fascinating characters and non-stop encounters with adversaries along the way is what will keep you reading. I came to the final page where the author gave us a respite from the hectic last chapter and suddenly, there was no more. The promise of another sequel waiting, I was eager to grab it so I could continue on the path traveled thus far. This is an exciting novel and I loved it the further I got into the story. The characters are astounding in their unique ways. I loved The Traveler guiding the caravan and his dog companion who is sometimes much more than a dog. This is good stuff and, if you love an adventure, I enthusiastically recommend it.

The premise is good. The twists and turns of the plot were also good. The point of view of the characters when speaking and actions were not what I expected.

Epic start to what promises to be a very enjoyable series. Accidentally came across Liquid Cool a few months ago while chatting with friends, picked it up and read the whole series (to date) back to back. Was very happy to see a fantasy series from the author as I am a fan of the genre - this adventure did not disappoint! Interesting start, great character development without being pretentious and a fascinating story line without jumping the shark. Some neat little surprises that I didn't see coming too. Now I'm waiting for book two, so going to pickup the after eaden trilogy and check that out while I wait!

The story is great! I kept wanting to read it every open second i had. It definitely keeps you interested the whole time. The reason i give it 4 stars is because sometimes i felt the plot was rushed a little towards the end. Sometimes at the beginning of paragraphs it talked about something different than what the previous paragraph was saying. There should have been a chapter end or a big space to signify that the scenery changed. Other than that, the story is great and i definitely recommend it to any one who loves fantasy. I am currently waiting for the next 2 books which i hope come out at the same time.

This is an epic proportion story! The Universe building is unique. The characters are superbly described, the story is so compelling and intrinsically realistic! I couldn’t help myself become immersed in getting together the mightiest caravan ever seen or heard, the struggles entailed, the magic and evil spells trying to stop their advance. A perfect, creative plot. Loving the series already!

Reviewed in the United Kingdom on July 3, 2018
Loved this. Something a wee bit different from the usual from Austin Dragon. Not that there is much of a 'usual' as he tries his hand at most genres.

Well-written, although a tiny bit slow to start due to the introduction of the main characters. Once the readers get right in to the story, the action and adventure, and the world, you'll be hooked, and not even Titan could drag you away. You'll meet some kind of everything here - honest, you will.

This is another success, in my humble opinion, and I'm looking forward to the next books very much indeed. I was given an ecopy which I voluntarily read and reviewed. Any opinions are my own.

A bit different genre from AD but his skill still shows as i was soon caught up in the story. His main character Traveller is a great piece of work Mysterious yet appealing and the other adventurers were great as the trail demands a constant stream of new people with many an unknown hazard to be faced with multiple adversaries and mysteries to be defeated.
Wasn't too sure but I'm now a fan of this series and plan on keeping a close eye out for book 2
