I'm a country woman living in the big city with my husband, and, you know the saying 'you can take the woman out of the country, but you can't take the country out of the woman'? That's me. My family says I can strike up a conversation with anyone, anywhere and it would only take me minutes to know their life story. I have two adult children who refuse to walk next to me at shopping centres if I wear my moccasins, which are the second most comfortable shoes I own. Squashed into our tiny abode is myself, hubby, one cat, one dog, one turtle, and eleven fish. My daughter lives downstairs in a small unit. My dream is to retire back to the country one day, away from the hustle and bustle of the city, where I can write to the sounds of birds and cicadas singing, while the waft of fresh rain on gum leaves rustles through my windows.

    The author did a good job with her characters. They had the traits that fit how she described them, such as the head of the Bratva actually being both intelligent and blood thirsty. The female lead was not so naive that she wasn't willing to kill to save her life or her sister's life, but also her inexperience showed and was used against her. They were well crafted.

    I have read and love every book by this author so far and am not disappointed with this one.
    The story of Katya and Mikhail has everything I love, from action and suspense to a nice blend of romance.

    Name an emotion and you're going to feel it through this read. Family drama, mafia drama, hate then love, angst in every form! Suspense! Romance! Just read it you will not be disappointed!

    The Raven Bleeds by BA Child’s is a definite 5⭐️ Read but I took points off—I know, it’s ridiculous why—but when a word becomes so
    redundant that the content becomes blurred it forced me to remove a point. That didn’t stop me from gobbling up every luscious page!!! ❤️‍🔥🖤🥵😻

    Ooof! What a story! Tears, a few laughs, and lots of mystery, bring this solid tome to life. I Learned a lot about the Bratva – – that it is not really like the mafia. Loyalty does not run as deep. And for Mikhail, The Raven, that means constant worry and pressure.

    When he meets his Katya, there is another level of worry he must contend with. Thankfully he has his best friend Henrí, who stays by his side, as loyal as a brother, and second in command as Pakhan. Speaking of Pakhan—that word gets tossed around so much it became an ear worm 🪱 for me! 🙌🏼And there goes my 5⭐️ to 4! It’s all pahkanators fault! Grrrrrrr, that word!!!

    With Pahkam multiplied by 100, I was hoping we’d get as many smexy scenes as that word gets on each page. But we don’t. So I give this 4⭐️book a 2 ⭐️ 🌶. These are two gorgeous people—her with her petite frame, blonde and doe eyed blue eyes; him with his long top, braided locks and intense eyes on a 6’5” frame. At least 2 more sizzling scenes could’ve put this in the 5 ⭐️vault.

    The action was heavy, the lack of loving parents apparent (pun?) the sadness over Mikhail’s mom’s illness, and Katya’s revelation about her abuse, brought on the sadness…but light does conquer that! In the end, the sweetness in an otherwise hard and tough crime boss that is Mikhail shows us the golden heart within.

    Not to be forgotten is that smexy friend, Henrí!!! Will this playboy be brought to his knees by a young girl who is playing his emotions like a queen? Can’t wait to find out!!

    The story moved fast! The storyline wraps itself up, but also leaves room for more with other characters and the main couple. Katya is easy to like and has a good heart despite all that she has been through. Mikhail is gorgeous, brutal, but still very in touch with his soft side. His BF, Henri, may have his own story coming and Natalia, Katya’s sister, seems to be involved. There is spice but it doesn’t overtake the story.

    I am hoping for a sequel on this one.

    Katya was raised by an alcoholic mother, mostly ignored by her father who held a position within the Bratva but always craved a higher station. She is not the typical "held a gun since she was 6" type of femme fatale that has become so common. But her father wants to use her that way, and she has no choice but to comply unless she wants her sister put into harms way.

    Mikhail is a Pakhan, a boss within the Russian Bratva. Intelligent, blood thirsty. He knew before ever setting eyes on Katya who she was. It didn't stop him from being drawn into her. But men like Mikhail don't get to the top being led with their second head. He's got Katya exactly where he wants her.

    They're both very well written characters. Who they are makes sense both within the back story and with how the plot plays out. I plan to continue reading other books by this author in the future, as this book leaves room for romance between other characters in future stories.
