To Trick a Raja (Majestic Midlife Witch Book 3) Kindle Edition

4.8 out of 5 stars 16 ratings

A kingdom divided. A rebellion rising. A crown ripe for the taking.

My witchcraft made a fortress soar from the earth, fracturing the kingdom in two. Once, the raja pictured me as his queen. Now, I lead the resistance against him. He plots against us in his white-washed palace, leveraging secrets to gain power, and it’s only a matter of time before he comes for us.

The kingdom is crying out for justice, but the seer’s visions have been off-kilter since the reunion with her brother, and not all the rebels trust me. They know that the ancient gargoyles I command once spilt the blood of the people. They know that the raja excels at sinister games, and even the brave fall to their knees before him. Like Deven, who has captured my heart but whose battle to control his shifter self endangers us all.

As betrayal snakes towards us, we discover traitors within the rebel ranks and allies in unfathomable places. I make ever darker choices to protect my loved ones. Am I truly the queen this kingdom deserves if I resort to violence to claim the throne?

To Trick a Raja is the third novel in the Majestic Midlife Witch series. If you are a fan of magic-wielding heroines, swoon-worthy romance and deadly secrets, this book will captivate you.

Beautifully written, this book is the heart-pounding, magical conclusion to this trilogy set in a mesmerizing, hidden Indian village in the heart of England. Kiya has evolved into a courageous leader, as she and her rebel allies prepare to save their beloved Jalaphashu from the grip of the Raja who seeks to destroy them. The story has it all— friendship and betrayal, certainty and doubt, passion and loathing, and an epic battle. Author N. Z. Nassar has woven together the many and diverse characters into a cohesive family determined to care for one another and save their home even when relationships are tested and betrayals sow doubt. In between and throughout the story are the underlying threads of friendship, loyalty, and love. I highly recommend this book and the entire series.

This is the conclusion to the Majestic Midlife Witch series. I've really enjoyed this series and learning about things that come from Indian culture.

The title of the book fits the story to a T. and what a trick it is!

I'm rating 4.5 out of 5 stars. While a great story, I struggled a bit with all of Kiya's mental back and forth and the time it took to get to the epic conclusion. Other than that, great read and a lot of creativity in the setup.

This is the third book in this series and a great ending to it. Very riveting, with lots of suspense throughout. Wonderfully written with great plot twists.

I feel really mean only giving this book 5 stars - it is worth so many more. In this final book, Kiya is the leader of the rebels against the Raja, who has become a selfish tyrant, out to destroy Jalaphashu. Her character and relationship with Deven develop and undergo changes during the book. Is Kiya the best person for the leadership of Jalaphashu? Will Kiya and Deven's relationship survive the violence? Who amongst the rebels is a friend and who is a traitor? This book kept me rivetted the whole time, and I begrudged having to put it down for any reason.
I read an ARC of To Trick a Raja

Three sisters discover their dormant magical powers when they are kidnapped from their English beach side town to a hidden kingdom based in Indian folklore. I loved the prelude and first two books, which explore family, the transformations of midlife, and multicultural identity through the metaphor of magic and the sudden need to navigate a new culture. To Trick a Raja surprised and delighted me by kicking the series up a notch, adding layers of complexity in character development, plot, and worldbuilding. You can read and enjoy it as deeply satisfying and triumphant escapism, but also as an even more deeply satisfying multilayered exploration of women claiming power and using strategy, commitment, and a sense of justice to change both themselves and the world.

Pinned down to a secure compound with no access to provisions, tempers and anxeity build up. The Raja has gained more powers. Will Kiya and her team be able to thwart the Raja? He will demolish everything and a a cruel selfish ruler, the people will not strive. Even with Kira and her gargoyles and Devon, will they be able to win the battle? Kira actually takes a challenge of battle, but does not pick Deven as her representing champion. Will she be strong enough to win the battle? Literally everything rides on her success. Peoples lives, lively hoods and freedom are now dependent on Kira. This is an action packed page turner that Ms. Nasser has woven

If you have followed this series at all, do not miss this book!! I fell in love with these characters. I've rarely read a series where the character development is so beautifully done. My favorite thing about this author is her word pictures; they are a window to another world. READ THIS SERIES!! You won't be disappointed.

The finale of this trilogy was perfect. Just right, with angst, worry, certainty, and doubt. I couldn't put it down, even to the point of being moved to tears. It was a lovely conclusion.
