4.4 out of 5 stars 137 ratings

A supernatural relic. A thousand-year-old conspiracy. A madman who turns death into art. It's all in a day's work for the agents of ARKANE.

When a priceless relic disappears from Canterbury Cathedral, ARKANE – the agency tasked with protecting the world from supernatural adversaries – fears the worst… and sends its best.

Now, ARKANE agents Morgan Sierra and Jake Timber are on the job. Across Europe, through historical cities and into spectral forests forgotten by time, Morgan and Jake will follow the bloody trail of hidden relics wherever it leads, whatever the cost.

But even they aren’t ready for what’s coming.

Their hunt will lead them beyond danger, beyond darkness to the shadowed heart of a hidden citadel where lives an evil unlike any they’ve ever seen… and to a dark choice that will change them both forever.

ARKANE agents Morgan Sierra and Jake Timber are called on to investigate the theft of a relic of Thomas Becket from Canterbury Cathedral, to find the thief and return the relic before an important meeting of religious leaders in five days’ time. Recent evidence in a string of similar thefts pointed to a jeweler in Krakow who makes copies of rare religious relics, then sends the real artifacts to an evil collector in a hidden well-protected citadel in Northumberland. The jeweler suggested that an art restorer at the Cathedral Church of St. Peter in Cologne had links to a circle of art thieves. Although Morgan had bad vibes from the jeweler, they traveled there, but it was another theft and a set-up to kidnap Jake, to kill him and use his bones as replacement artifacts. Can Morgan follow the kidnappers and rescue Jake? Can they retrieve the stolen relics, or is this the end of the line for our friends?

This is another great story in the ARKANE series. Ms. Penn has obviously done significant research, travelling in the story locales, and tremendous legwork to make her characters and scenes as legitimate as possible. The story is well-written, with twists and turns, lots of action, which kept me engrossed, and I finished it in one sitting. This is the ninth book I’ve read and enjoyed in this series, and I’m eager to read the remaining ones. I received an ARC – this review is my honest opinion – and I purchased a copy to support this outstanding author.

Just finished Book 12 which brings me up to date. I enjoyed the book, as always, but it was too short to fully develop the plot. I enjoyed others in the ARKANE series more so. I will continue to the series as new books become available.

I received a free advance copy from J.F. Penn, for my honest review and I also ordered it from amazon.com. Something I like to do to support my favorite authors and especially when I read advance copies from them.

No spoilers! Absolutely addictive, J.F. Penn's writing style just sucks you in, your right their in the action, on the edge of the seat cheering that Morgan, Jake, Martin and the rest of the Arkane crew to defeat evil and it's a read that you don't want to see end.

Her writing is so well researched, like all the historical sites she adds into the storyline, can she ever add all the right elements to make her story that much better and what an imagination she has.

With 'Tomb of Relics', Penn kept it simple compared to what I previous read in the Arkane series but fear not it still has the legendary theme, overloaded with twist and turns, seasoned perfectly with suspense and best of all she transports into the pages as your reading this one.

Morgan, Jake and Martin are awesome, some of my favorite fictional characters. One element that makes her writing so good, is how she bring the characters good or bad too life, blending real history, with supernatural and her imagination.

I don't read a lot of books in the supernatural genre, but absolutely love how J.F. Penn mixes historical religious sites into her Arkane Series books, that alone makes it worth while to read, you always learn something new and highly recommend.

I really enjoyed this book. The author gave me a preview copy to review, but I've also bought a paid copy and am waiting for the Audible.com version to be released. Can you tell yet that I REALLY enjoyed this story?
The book begins with relic thefts and a creepy jeweler who creates faux relics in jeweled reliquaries as jewelery and objets d'art. And then it gets dangerous....
If you liked Penn's previous books, you'll definitely enjoy this one. And if this will be your first story by this author, there are plenty more in this series that you'll also enjoy. And then there are her other series to get hooked on...
    Enjoy!

Tomb of Relics by J.F. Penn is an exciting addition to her ARKANE series. It is a fast moving adventure with many twists and turns. The main characters are ones we have met before in the series. They are strong, well developed, and continue to grow as the series continues. While the ARKANE books are stand alone, there are references to previous stories.
I highly recommend Tomb of Relics by J.F. Penn as well as the whole ARKANE series.

Yet another excellent thriller in the ARKANE series! True to form, Penn has produced another engaging ARKANE adventure featuring Morgan Sierra and Jake Timber.

My only complaint about this book is that it's too short. A story as imaginative and thrilling as this one deserves more time and attention, but it's certainly enjoyable as is.

Penn has a masterful way of engaging the reader with the right amount of fantasy and plenty of action. I have read several books in this series, and I can't wait to read more. Please keep them coming.

Finally a new ARKANE novel. One relic is stolen and Morgan and Jake are asked to find it. But what they find is so much more as the trail leads them to a slightly crazed jewelry artist and his major client. The ARKANE novels are always filled with well written and interesting characters with a fast paced suspense plot and this one is no different. I'm already looking forward to the next adventure.

This book had me fully engrossed from first sentence to final. I have been rather ill and housebound ( not covid related) for the past two years , only managing to leave home on rare occasions.
I've always been an avid reader in fact I went to school aged 4 1/2 with a reading age of 7 much to the annoyance of my primary school teachers sadly.
I have never lost my life of reading.
This book combined two of the most important aspects of both my life and my reading matter, Faith and history of the church.
I read it in 10 hours and since finishing the book have in fact gone looking for all in this series thankfully finding them.
Would I recommend this book yes and in fact already have done so to several people I know will also enjoy
