Cinder easily became one of my all time favorite books! Love, peace, war and strength are all words I would use to describe this book. Heat and heart, discipline and growth too.
This wasn't another one of those "do as I say and I'll love you forever" kind of books ; it was more of a 'grow with me, through evil and goodness" and out love will become stronger for it.

Gah! I cannot say enough about this book!

    3 ⭐️

I’m not sure what I was expecting here, but I thought it was going to be a dark retelling of the fairytale Cinderella. It didn’t really hold up to that. It wasn’t a bad read I just didn’t really find it dark at all.

Cinder lives in a time where people are huddled together in colonies as liveable areas of the world are few and far between with the desert bordering the colonies. Cinder moves from colony to colony trying to get to the palace of lazar where she wants to join the harem. Cinder starts off as a strong character in her travels but time languishing in the harem make her kind of weak. She spends a lot of time when the army is training at Casen crying and believing she is a burden (which she really is at that point). I picked Donte really early and was waiting for Cinder to wake up.

A character Nico was introduced and I’m not sure what his purpose was. It felt like it was going towards a secondary love interest but never went anywhere. I just didn’t understand his character.

I think this one suffered from not knowing what it was meant to be. Was it a dystopian story, an erotic fairytale or even just erotica. The fairytale fell away very early and there were parts that were erotic but once they left the harem they fell away to be replaced by the dystopian storyline.

I read it and it was ok but I wouldn’t read it again and don’t really have the desire to read the next one either

Ok not going to lie, when i picked this up i was not expecting erotica. So imagine my surprise when thats what i found. But it was amazing. The hero is strong yet demanding. He wants submission which our girl can give. Shes brave but doubts herself. For a girl that travelled the whole desert to find lazar she really doesnt believe in herself. She needs him to affirm that. Its definitely a fast paced, heart pounding story that will get you hot and bothered!!

I have never read a book like this before and I loved it. The time and setting was great. Cinder and Donte’s journey to each other keeps you reading and hoping for the end you want.

Was listed as erotic romance and before it was half way over it took a turn and was more a dystopian book. I was so confused on where the book was going. I didn’t even care to finish. I think I read 60% of it. The characters didn’t pull you in, I was not attached to any of them by the time I stopped. The first 25% was good and I thought she had something and then a war broke out and took over the story line.

Amazing twist to an old fairy tale. I loved it. Very well written all alpha males and sassy submissive heroine.

I am so disappointed that this book, The Truth about Cinder, was offered as a new book... this is just a remake of a previous book 😟 (In The Palace Of Lazar - Harem Book 1) by Alta Hensley, and I am disappointed that the author’s blurb would make no mention of it. A few other authors have done this recently, like Sierra Cartwright, and I feel that they (and Amazon) are taking advantage of their readers, taking their money under false pretenses, when they already paid for the book. If you make substantial changes (besides the name of the heroine), just say so and leave it up to the buyers to decide. I’m okay paying for a book a second time if it has been substantially improved, but don’t try to cheat... it is so disappointing! Anyway, I loved the book the first time...

Hensley is listed as a top 100 bestseller author of dark romance, and yet as I read this I couldn’t help thinking I was reading a high school senior’s Wattpad. The characters aren’t fully developed, the plot is thread bare, and how this ties into the original Cinderella is beyond me. I almost feel cheated, but we can blame Anne Rice’s Sleeping Beauty trilogy for that. What I found the most aggravating though is there are the bones of a really good story here, but Hensley fails to deliver.

About the best thing I can say about this book is it’s a quick read and not heavy on the erotica (which practically amounts to foreplay compared to other erotica I’ve read).

    📖BOOK REVIEW📖
    OH. MY. 🖤
I must admit, I fell in love with the cover from the first sight. It is simply breathtaking, so I knew I must buy the book. And believe me it’s worth every penny. This book stole my heart completely, so thank you @altahensley for delivering such an amazing story. I am hooked and I want more.
Cinder’s life is nothing like a paradise, but she refuses to live it the way most will be satisfied with. Her world is a dark, hopeless place. Mankind is on the edge of extinction, the Earth is one big desert, people live in overcrowded communes with no hope for the better. But the word says there is a place you can have it all, the wealth, luxury, pleasure. The Palace of Lazar, a prince with insatiable tastes. Feasts of pleasure, lust and forbidden acts. The only price is submission.
Cinder is about to discover that the world she lives in is more dangerous that’s she’s seen, twisted and vicious, as her fairytale is about to twist once again. Will she succumb to the demands of her current story, or cling to her fairytale ending?
Well, this part you need to find out on your own.
All I can say is I am in love with this story. I love the characters, I love the way they evolve. And I love the way they find each other when everything seems to be broken.
This is an amazing book, not to be missed. You will find here everything one can want from a good story. Passion, commitment, love and amazing plot. So don’t waste your time and get your copy today!
6/5⭐️ This book had me hooked from the very first page to the very last.
