Sizzling addition to the West Oaks series!
Wow! I happened upon Hannah Shield as an author with the West Oaks series and I knew she was jumping to the top with my favorite authors very quickly. I couldn’t get enough of this books and quickly read them. Just as this one came out, the author did a giveaway and I was one of two lucky people to receive a paperback. I had purchased the previous books as ebooks and let me tell you, when I pulled that book out of the package it was a surprise to me! First thing I noticed was how soft the cover felt. Once I opened it up and turned the pages, I realized how high quality the book itself is made. This has no impact on the love I have for her writing and the story of course, but wanted to mention it because I was surprised by the fact that I had noticed it being so different from any other paperback I’ve ever held. The story itself with Danny and Lark was wonderful how it progressed. I loved the storyline and it kept me guessing as I tried to fill in the blanks from her amnesia. I can’t wait for the next one to come out and would recommend this author! While I wait for the last book in the West Oaks series to be published, I can start on her Bennett Security series because several characters intertwine with the West Oaks series, which I love. Thanks to Hannah, you are an amazing writer!

    This was another great fast paced romantic suspense. I love the amnesia trope and this one was extremely well written. There were so many twists and revelations I didn’t see coming.

    The mystery of Lark and how she ended up in West Oaks dominated this plot. As she and Danny uncover more of her life it seems like she may never get her memories back, and after awhile, Lark is okay with that. She’s found a new family that accepts and loves her and that’s enough. But there’s still the threat of the man who tried to run her over out there and until that is wrapped up, Lark isn’t as free as she would like to think.

    Danny was an excellent hero. He was trying his best to do the right thing for Lark and his grandmother, the two women in his life, and that was no always easy. He quickly learned he didn’t need to fix Lark. They had great chemistry and although she didn’t have her memories, they found they had a lot in common.

    I loved how Danny and Lark’s relationship progressed. From strangers to friends to lovers. Lark attached herself to Danny when she had no memories and nobody else, and it seemed like fate that lead her to Danny. I loved their friendship and seeing it evolve. I love Danny’s determination to show Lark that she was a good person, no matter what secrets they revealed about her past. I love that all Hannah’s series interconnect and we get glimpses of not only other couples from this series, but other characters from the Bennett Security series.

    This story was a bit different. It has suspense but was a bit slow moving. Good build up to the culmination of two mysteries in one. I did get a bit tired of Larks inner doubt since really she just lost her memory for a month. You can't solve everything fast. There were lots of moving parts in the story but Hannah has a nice writing style. Not as steamy as her other ones before. Loved Danny family, so glad he found his HEA and he had such supportive friends. Still a good West Oaks stories.

    This book starts off full-throttle and never lets up. When Danny comes to the injured girl’s aid, there is a connection that he can’t explain. He is a 33yo firefighter and EMT so he knows what to do for her body, but can he help her mind and heart heal too? He’s dealing with his own sorrow; his beloved grandmother with whom he lived, Nina is dying of cancer. His parents decided to move away without their seventh-grade son! In romance, Danny has always been a one-and-done kind of guy. Something is different with the injured girl, Lark. Danny thinks she is too young for him since she is only in her early twenties, but there is just something about Lark…
    In this book there are nefarious things happening but it is hard to tell from where. The author has a done a great job of making several people look suspicious. This was a suspenseful mystery with lots of dreamy passion. If this sounds like your kind of book, you really must read it. So good. Perfect cover for Danny too. I volunteered to review an ARC of it through BookSirens. I have loved every one of the books in this series! I have already bought the last one which is my favorite romantic genre: age gap.

    Wow! This book is undoubtedly my fav of this series. I’ve really enjoyed reading each story, but this book is utterly riddled with so much raw emotion and puzzling intrigue that I’m suffering from a book hangover!

    What I really loved was the emotional build up laced between Danny and those around him—Danny’s love for his grandmother, his grappling with his estranged relationship with his father, anger towards his long lost uncle, his appreciation for having such great friends, but most of all, his love story with Lark.

    From the moment Danny rescues Lark from a hit and run, they both feel a pull towards each other, but what hooked me was the building up of their relationship. It wasn’t insta love where they hop into bed, ohhhh no. It was a slow burn where they got to know each other and developed a true bond as Danny promised to aid Lark in her struggles to remember her past. It was the sweetest thing ever, and by the time they finally get together? Their bond only gets deeper, and lemme tell ya, the spice is 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

    I finished this book in 1 day because I couldn’t put it down. Danny and Lark forever! ❤️

    As a reader, I was kept on the edge of the string trying to unravel the mystery to find the connection from the darkness of her past to the current situation and feelings of safety with Nina and Danny.
    Once again, Hannah shield has brought a series connected by numbers, yet each giving us their own twist. Now to start on another series from this very talented author.

    I read this book as a stand-alone, as it is my first by this author.

    I was hooked from the first chapter when an accident causes Lark to lose her memory.

    The chemistry between Lark and Danny 🔥🔥

    The interwoven storyline as Lark learns her new self identity while facing her past with Danny’s support kept me engaged.

    There were a few times when the story seemed to stall, which was the reason for only ⭐️⭐️⭐️

    Wow, couldn’t put it down. This book had so many twists and turns. The ending of who the bad guy was had me fooled. Even though they had lots of ups and downs as well as Lark losing her memories they made it work. Also a good love story between Danny and Lark. Highly recommend.
