Something Unintended: An MM Daddy Romance Novella (Split Rock Ranch Book 3) Kindle Edition
Strings-free hookups are the only kind of relationships Hunter goes for these days. As a bartender—especially during Split Rock’s Pride celebration—he doesn’t have any problem finding people to be with. But he’s tempted to break his own rules for a pretty boy who’s only in town for the week. Their tastes line up perfectly, and Hunter finds himself straying from his usual pattern with Eli. It’s nothing to worry about, though. Eli’s on the rebound and Hunter doesn’t do repeats. They can have some fun and both walk away satisfied.
What happens during Pride week stays at Pride week. Right?

About the author

Rory Maxwell discovered romance novels on her mom’s bookshelf when she was probably too young to be reading them—the reward for being a nosy kid with great reading comprehension. The magic of a dial-up internet connection led her to the wonderful world of MM fanfiction a few years later and she fell in love with the genre. In 2019 she woke up with a plot bunny, opened a word doc, and started trying to figure out how this writing stuff worked.
Rory grew up outside of Washington, DC, moved away, and then came back for reasons she doesn’t fully understand. An artist and writer, she always has too many exciting ideas and not nearly enough free time. One day, she hopes to escape to the mountains where she can work from home and write as much as she wants. In the meantime, she splits her time between her day job and writing MM romance with heart, heat, and happy endings.

- Reviewed in the United States on September 1, 2024I love this series. Eli made the right move by coming to Split Rock after all. He wasn't looking forward to going alone, but once he found Hunter and the great people of this wonderful town, he forgot all about being dumped by his ex... for the most part. Hunter wasn't looking for anything more than a "hit and git", but Eli brought out feelings, wants and desires that he never knew... Hunter had 3 rules and meeting Eli, he broke them right out of the gate. Looking forward to the next book.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 16, 2024I enjoyed this sweet failed one night stand novella. It moved quite fast but I had a fun time getting to know these two characters and seeing some familiar faces 🥹
- Reviewed in the United States on August 4, 2023I fell in love with Eli and Hunter, their chemistry was undeniable, and Hunter was everything Eli deserved after Bryan. Eli found a place he belonged, friends who supported him, a community that embraced him, and a man who loved him wholeheartedly and without reservation. The final frosting on the cake was the confrontation at the end of the book, a perfect way to conclude this enjoyable book. A fairly quick but engaging read. Looking forward to reading the first 2 books and number 4 when it comes out. A delightful offering by a new author.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 14, 2024I loved the way Eli's character was built from the very first page. He was relatable, unaware how strong he was and an overall great example of small not meaning helpless.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 15, 2024I liked how the story flowed and love seeing other couples from past books in the series pop up. However this is very easily read as a standalone too.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 7, 2023But well done in spite of that. The characters, even the sleazy ones, are well drawn without exaggeration. The Split Rock setting is out of a fairy tale of course, but entertaining. As usual, though, I can't quite grasp a world view that revolves around sex.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 11, 2024I don’t tend to read novellas, but I’m glad I finally read this one. I’m very impressed with how the author has managed to fit a great (believable) connection, fantastic spice, surprising amounts of emotion, sky-high spicy tension *and* daddy kink into this little novella. It really felt like a complete story, and it actually made me cry a little. There’s obviously not tons to say about it, but man, don’t sleep on this author. I was super impressed by their book Something Unforgettable as well.
If you’re into fantastic spicy tension that lasts even after the MCs get together (and I mean, who isn’t into that), then I highly recommend this one. The daddy kink was the cherry on top. The epilogue also tied up the only loose end we got, which I appreciated.
I got a little scared on the very first page of Hunter’s first chapter because it seemed so off in comparison to who/how I thought he would be, but I think it was a small case of ‘missed the mark’. It lasted literally two pages and then he was back to his awesome, daddy self. I am also very sensitive to that kinda thing, so I’m sure most folks wouldn’t notice.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sweet Story
So, this novella was so freaking cute, I loved the sexy interactions between Hunter and Eli, who was struggling after a painful dumping by his boyfriend. Hunter swore he'd only do hook-up's, he'd been hurt in the past too. But they healed each other and gave us a gorgeous tale of climbing back. A lovely read.

3.0 out of 5 stars meh 🫤
I get that this is a novella but I wish there was more chemistry besides Eli calling Hunter “daddy”. Overall, it’s a cute story but I wish there were more chapters or something to make the story more wholesome.

5.0 out of 5 stars loved it
So glad I found this book. I love this series but this book didn’t come up as the next in series when I finished book 2. The writing and characters are brilliant, I really like Eli and Hunter. Can’t wait for some more from this world.

3.0 out of 5 stars 3.5 stars.....More depth needed
I enjoyed it to a certain degree. I loved the characters and the storyline had so much potential.....however, I think if the book was a little longer it would have been a 4-5 star book. Seeing their relationship develop after their first couple of nights would have made the book even better. I
On another note, I don't normally like third-person books, but I hardly noticed it was one thanks to this authors writing style.
