The Undesirable Duke: A Sweet Regency Romance (Christmas in London Book 2) Kindle Edition
Samuel, the Duke of Yarmouth, is stunned to learn that rumors about his supposed gambling, financial ruin and visiting undesirable haunts have been swirling through London. Unaware of where they have come from, he determines to go there for Christmas so he might not only unmask the culprit but bring about a return to his otherwise shining reputation.
Lillian knows she ought not to go near the Duke of Yarmouth given that she is meant to be seeking an excellent match, but something about him calls to her. While everyone else in society shuns him, she begins to offer him a little of her attentions whenever she can. Determining to help him, Lillian must battle the wrath of her overbearing mother as well as the desire within her own heart!
When a dreadful accident occurs, Samuel becomes afraid for Lillian’s safety and pulls away from her, breaking her heart. Will Lillian be able to see the Duke’s true feelings for her or will her broken heart separate them forever? And can the Duke discover the truth and regain his standing in society?

About the author

Rose has read her way through countless romances over the years, “borrowing” them from her older sisters, and hiding them from her mother (Mom didn't like the sexy book covers!)
She has a special love for Regency romances and when she began writing, the Regency period was a natural place to start. The ton, the wealthy families, the Season, the dilemmas, and yes, the marriages, have always fascinated her. She loves a happy ever after! Now she is happy to bring this passion to her stories and share it with her readers.
On a personal note, Rose lives in North Carolina, is married, and has a terrier that barks too much. She enjoys taking him for walks to tire him out!

- Reviewed in the United States on December 30, 2024Great story. I love Rose Pearson’s stories. They are intelligent and move at a good pace. This one, I simply had to read from the beginning to end. I felt uplifted and happy reading this story. Duke Samuel and Lady Lillian have a very difficult time ahead of them but manage to persevere and find their strength together and their happiness too. The story evolves and moves on without the on and on many authors use to stretch the length. I mentioned this is an intelligent story and I was sorry to see it end! Thank you Rose Pierson.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 17, 2025The book was not badly written. The story line is simple enough. But the manner of speech seems extremely stilted and beyond formal. I realize that the population of that era did speak in a more eloquent manner, but not quite this formally. Overall, not bad, but character development could use a little more detail.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 20, 2025Loved the characters and the tension between them. The unknown author kept you guessing til the end. Rose Pearson did a great job on this book. Everyone could enjoy this clean romance.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 3, 2024Samuel and Lillian’s story is so good. I loved there first meeting. These two have an immediate connection but face many issues before getting to their HEA which had me pulling for them throughout their story. An intriguing story that grabbed my attention from the beginning.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 16, 2024I had trouble getting into this plot. So I finally skipped to the last couple chapters. Maybe it was the characters, instead not the plot...
- Reviewed in the United States on December 13, 2024A wonderful Regency Christmas story! Rose's prose keeps the pages turning as the plot twists and turns. The characters are believable and fill their roles beautifully. ENJOY!
- Reviewed in the United States on December 6, 2024Trying to ruin a person's reputation is bad enough, but to do it through writing is low, basically you're a chicken if you can't be face to face.
I really liked, even with all that Samuel endured, it found he was looking for - not to mention finding an added bonus during the same time.
I wasn't a fan of Lillian's mom at first, even knowing she was looking out for her daughter, I'm glad she really came to understand.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 14, 2024Sadly, the book was lot of telling what the emotions were.
It could be tightened quite a bit if meaningless regular dialogue was taken out. Including: Soooo many: “are you well? I am well, Is she well?, are they well?, he is well, we are well, all is well”. And countless (literally can’t even tell you how many) apologies: from everyone in the story sorry this sorry that, sorry for interrupting, sorry to need to leave, sorry for bothering you…- good gracious!
Also, Dukes aren’t that demure and fawning! And they aren’t that plentiful in the peerage, so a minor rumor wouldn’t derail every match making momma from pushing their daughter after him!

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant Story!
Our hero Samuel, Duke of Yarmouth returns to London from Cornwall to find the person spreading rumours about him within the Ton and enlists the help of his friend Lord Timothy Welsford. When he accidentally meets and helps a young woman in the street, little does he know that this will change his life forever. Timothy’s sister Lillian cannot forget the man who helped her and is astounded when she meets him in her own drawing room and finds out that he is her brother’s friend. When the person trying to ruin Samuel takes things a step too far, he is determined to protect Lillian, even if it means he must return to Cornwall. How Lillian accidentally finds a link to the blackguard, and Samuel’s subsequent confrontation with the person spreading rumours, makes for some wonderful final chapters. I really enjoyed this book and highly recommend it.
