This book is the definition of something feeling “right”. Everything about this story screamed perfection. A puzzle coming together. I cried, I laughed, my heart was so warm. I’m so happy right now, I’m basking in the afterglow of this incredible bookgasm. Thinking back, I don’t know if I’ve ever read a more ideal male lead. Preston is perfection personified. He went through so much, only to come out on the other side so strong and wise beyond his years. It’s why he and Alexis work so beautifully together. He’s the calm to her storm. Alexis is a head strong, gorgeous business woman/mother. She came from nothing and made something of herself so she could give her daughter the best life. She employs Preston as her daughters nanny…only to end up falling in love with him. I’ve got to be honest, I wasn’t sure how I’d feel about the reverse age gap subtrope, but holy crap I was completely blown away. The idea of an older woman and a younger man has never really been something I’ve been interested in reading before, but this took me there. This story changed everything for me. And oh MY god can we talk about the sex. For just a second. I’m drooling. The chemistry between these two? It melts off the page. There’s just enough room for your imagination and whew, ladies, just get ready. A standing ovation for this masterpiece, a million rounds of applause, 5 stars all the way. I was completely blown out of the water and taken by surprise with this story. I’m so so SO glad our author asked me to read and review. BRAVO!!!

    Swoon fest! Preston is Ah-ma-zing in every way, even in his imperfections. 26 year old "Manny" that's awesome with children, and isn't a manwhore. His luck isn't really great, but when his agency calls him for an emergency job over the summer, things may be looking up.

    Alexis Black, she's a woman on the go in LA as far as real estate is concerned. She's got her own brokerage firm, she's moving into development, she has the most adorable 6 year old, but she has a piss poor excuse of an ex who flakes at a moments notice. He's supposed to take their daughter for the summer, but he's all of a sudden gotten a tour. Sophie's regular nanny is out of the country, camps are full, what can she do?

    Pres tons agency sends Alexis his resume, and though she's apprehensive about a male nanny, his resume is impeccable. He arrives for the "meets cute" and realizes Alexis Black is the woman who occupies his fantasies. He's seen her around the school with his last family and he's never seen someone more beautiful and put together.

    He instantly clicks with Sophia, he and Alexis zing, I mean sparks fly when the come in contact, and he's asked to move into the pool house. You know what happens when forced proximity comes into play. Alexis has a past, but so does Preston, but Alexis allows their age difference and her past play on her insecurities. Even when this man, yes man who behaves better than her ex husband who is surely closer to her age treats her like she hung the moon, stars, and the entire universe. He was such a cinnamon roll, and I couldn't get enough of Alexis and Preston. I can't wait to see what Lauren and big bad SBD Hunter get into.

    She is desperate since her plans fell through, she gets lucky since Preston's last position came to and unexpected end.

    Preston needs the job and needs to make money in order to pay all of his bills.

    Alexis is hesitant to hire a male nanny but the company he works for is very well recommended for the measures that they take to ensure everyone's safety.

    So Preston starts working for Alexis, taking care of Sophia and the sparks start to fly.

    They are instantly attracted to each other. But Alexis is very strict with her not mixing business with pleasure rule.

    So she tries to stay away from Preston. But Preston doesn’t want her to stay away in fact he wants to see how close he can get.

    Alexis can only hold out for so long. She gives in but she keeps running hot and cold.
    One minute she's all for it and the next she wants to keep everything a secret.

    Alexis is very focused on what people think of her, she keep worrying about the age difference and how it will look to everyone on the outside.

    She also is a bit of a workaholic and can't really seem to find a balance. Her relationship with work is a bit unhealthy.

    Preston helps her to find more of a balance to spend more time with Sophia and to slow down a bit.

    Alexis is strong, independent, hardworking and a bada** when it comes to her job. She's had to work hard to be where she is and she's succeeded.

    Preston has had some tough times but was able to come out of it with a drive to live his life and knows what he wants out of life. He knows what's important.

    Together they make each other better and happier.

    I love the relationship that Preston was able to build with Sophia and how well he took care of her. He was there for her and reliable.

    Definitely! Although at some points Alexis annoyed me with her back and forth, this was a really good book. I enjoyed reading it.

    I couldn’t put it down from the moment I started reading it. It pulled me in from the beginning to the end. I think I read it in a couple of days.

    I actually want to read the other books in this series as soon as I have a chance.

    What’s this book about? (I'm trying to give as little spoilers as possible)
    This is the first full-length story in the LOVE IN LA series. Alexis Black is a lot of things. Single mom. A hardworking and mature woman. She needs a new nanny pronto and when Preston Hawthorne walks through her door, she knows that she’s found a match. Neither can deny their chemistry, yet a badass single parent knows better than to mix business with pleasure.

    This is my third Jenna Hartley read. ANOTHER STRIKING COVER! I read this after reading IRRESISTIBLE and UNEXPECTED. Totally the wrong order, but it’s manageable. The storylines are intertwined subtly enough, so that they can be read as standalones as well. For me, the story started out with a bang. I’m a sucker for older women and a younger man (AGE GAP EVERYWHERE, I’M AN ADDICT). I LOVED MOMMA BEAR ALEXIS. I didn’t love some of her choices concerning boy toy Preston. She opened her mouth one too many times about his private business in front of people she shouldn’t have. As much as I have a weak spot for single parents/mommas, I cannot forgive her for some of her actions. When she was a little strict and too busy with her work, I actually empathized with her. I understood her because I was raised by a single mom that had to deal with a weird ex-husband. Women like that have to take control; people will think they’re cold and bitchy. That was very realistic to me. I enjoyed reading that a lot.
    Preston was incredibly precious. When I met him in Irresistible, I was already impressed. He is a sweetheart, a hot one at that. I felt like he was mistreated here, A LOT. But I have to add that single parents must be cut some slack. However, Preston and his backstory… Man, he didn’t deserve some of the things he got served with. I LOVED PRESTON!
    HUNTER WAS HILARIOUS HERE. The subtle cougar hints/foreshadowing in the conversations between Preston and Hunter were glorious.
    The steam chemistry between Preston and Alexis was undeniable (my fav steam was Irresistible, Unexpected and then Unexpected). Alexis’ daughter was a cute lil thing, adding sweetness to all of her scenes with the adult characters. The side characters were incredible and as valuable as they were in the other books as well.
    I recommend this book to anyone who loves an age gap, daddy-worthy male leads and strong, hardworking and rich leading ladies that are also mommies.

    I loved Alexis and Preston sooo much. I read this book in a day.
    As a successful busy single mom, Alexis was doing everything she could to give her daughter a good life. But, she sacrificed her own time for too long.
    Preston is everything you could want in a man. Sexy as hell, attentive, patient and humoured.
    Reading about how he treated Sophia and her mother went above and beyond the ‘manny’ expectation.

    This book was really good. The storyline was good and I liked that the woman was older and the guy was young. It always seems the other way around in books but I enjoyed this. It is harder for people to except that older women can be with younger men and in this book it shows the difficulties to overcome for people.
    Preston is such a sweetheart and very patient when it came Alexis which is also something different but great to read.
    I’d say give it a read, I liked it.

    There are 6 books in this series and I have just read the 2nd one. It was equally as good as the first. I loved Preston & Alexis and the whole nanny / age difference /finances thing going on. If I am honest I would have liked to have learnt a bit more about how they would deal with those obstacles, but they were not really addressed. However the storyline was still brilliant and the love between the characters was palpable. I am definitely looking forward to the next in the series.
