Better known as Manic Sylph to thousands of her online fans, Mona Soorma has several books of poetry, micro-poetry, and poetic prose to her credit. Her love poetry never fails to touch the hearts of her readers with its simplicity and honesty of emotion. The micro-poetry series “Forever Love” is a popular pick of the contemporary reader who wants to experience the depth of poetry in tiny packages.

Words have always been close to her heart, and poetry her greatest love. It was destiny perhaps, that brought her into the world of social media in mid-2014, where Manic Sylph was born, a name she chose to describe what she is without needing to say who she is. She began her journey with a blog of positive affirmations and wrote two books of inspirational quotes on Wattpad that stayed in the top two slots for months (and are still going strong) which gave her the courage to get published. In time she meandered into poetry, where she feels her soul has found its home.

The word flow so eloquently as a read my 7 year old son to sleep each night. It's a treat to see him enjoy poetry as much as I. I recommend for a soothing nightly ritual to everyone.

These are the poems of a writer growing rapidly in craft. Ms. Soorma has a serious voice, exploring the joys and sorrows of love. At times, the ache in her words is almost palpable: "Missing each whisper and shiver / And smile and tear." At other times, these poems reflect a more casual moment: "A random wisp of a straggling memory." And maybe my favorite line in the book: "In my dreams / You always come to me / Riding darkness." But ultimately, these are poems of resilience and hope: "I keep my wings / At hand / To break the fall." It will be interesting to follow Ms. Soorma's career as she learns to mine more personal experiences.
