Twelve years too late....

Xavier James is shocked when he runs into the first man who ever broke his heart. His ex-boyfriend has only gotten sexier over the past decade, but Xavier isn't about to go down that road again. When they cross paths at the hospital's urgent care clinic, where Xavier is doing a student nursing rotation, it's more difficult to dismiss the man. Thrown together by work and forced into close quarters, a visit to memory lane is incredibly tempting.

It's never too late to start over....

Dr. Trent Cavendish made a huge mistake when he walked away from the love of his life at age 18. When his best friend suddenly dies 12 years later, it rattles Trent into seeing just how empty his life has become. Determined to go back to the moment he put himself on the path to ambition over happiness, he walks away from the OR and takes a temporary position in his hometown. It's time to make amends to the man he left behind.

Oh, how things have changed....

Instead of the sweet but tame guy he left behind, Trent runs into a smoking-hot Xavier James dressed in bits of lace and silk at a gay nightclub. He never knew he had a fetish for a man in delicate clothing until now. His plan to earn Xavier's forgiveness immediately shifts to lust, and love's not far behind. But Xavier is wary of this new Trent Cavendish. The villain of his memories is considerate and kind, but Xavier wants to be more than a new goal to chase.

Xavier and Trent

I loved this second chance story. Xavier and Trent meet again after 12 years. Xavier is furious at Trent for leaving him to go to medical school. Trent comes back after having a "wake up call". It was a really good story. The narration was great. Wyatt Baker did a really good job, loved his enthusiasm with the story.

Trent and Xavier are awesome.

Trent coming back for Xavier was so amazing. He had a wake up call and loves Xavier, who makes him work for it. Xavier tries to keep Trent at a distance but he does love him. They make their way back together slowly, they need each other and being so different they fit together so well. The narrator did really great and I enjoyed how he made the guys come to life.

A second chance at love and happiness!

Urgent Care is Book 3 in the Hearts and Health series and can be enjoyed as a standalone. This is a beautifully written story about second chances (a favorite of mind) and family, be it blood, found or community. Trent and Xavier were high school sweethearts then Trent went away to school while Xavier stayed to help take care of his family. Now 12 years later Trent is back and working at a local clinic while Xavier is finishing up nursing school. They are forced to work together as Xavier works towards graduation. It isn't a pleasant reunion at first but I love how determined Trent is to win back the love he lost. Xavier definitely makes him work for it but they had to get to know each other as the men they are now and not as the boys they were then. I really enjoyed watching their love grow and how they let the other just be themselves.
This is a very enjoyable book and series and I highly recommend them.
Narrator Wyatt Baker does an amazing job. He is definitely a favorite of mine, whether he's doing something sweet or sinister.

Second Chance

I think the author did a great job on the story line. (Although, I think Xavier forgave Trent a little too easily!) :) I didn't love the narration. I don't know how to really describe it, except that at times it felt like he was trying too hard. It was like an actor overacting. I would still recommend this book. It's a good listen and I loved all the characters!
