- Reviewed in the United States on February 18, 2017This book was unbelievable!
I'm finding it incredibly difficult to put into words how I really feel about this book.
Passion and Venom (book 1) was the first book by Shanora Williams that I'd read and I was immediately in love with everything about it. I instantly knew without a doubt that I had just added another author to my "Buy Without Question" list and have been anxiously and impatiently waiting for Venom and Ecstasy to come out ever since.
Before actually starting Venom and Ecstasy, I took a minute to read the "Note From The Author". I took particular notice of the statement "Yep, you get to see a gentler side of El Jefe!" I don't know about you, but when I read a dark romance like this one, I like my alpha to stay hard and dark. Unflinching and unwavering in their convictions. Instantly I felt a slight pang of disappointment at the idea that El Jefe could possibly turn soft; even just a little. Not that that would be enough to deter me from reading the book though. As I stated earlier, I loved the first book and frankly nothing short of Shanora saying El Jefe would spend the entire book running around in a pink tutu would have stopped me from reading this book.
If this is a concern you have as well, let me assure you that while yes, you do in fact see a gentler side of him, he remains a true and total bad@ss throughout the book. You also see another side of Gia which went beyond what I had expected from the first book and is totally awesome.
Just as I did with the first book, I loved everything about Venom and Ecstasy. It's dark, fierce and overflowing with angst and passion. The third book can't get here fast enough!
- Reviewed in the United States on June 16, 2017This second installment into the trilogy had in interesting mix of violence and discovery.
Violence
As the warning suggests, there are some pretty brutal scenes in this book, the biggest coming from vengeance on Bain and Francesca. There were times where I wanted the toughness from Gia that she promised at the end of book one, and while it only through on occasion, she certainly stepped up when it came to Bain. And boy did that turn on Draco, lol.
“I don’t take threats from anyone. I am the threat.”
There is a lot of mystery as to what Draco does when he leaves the house to deal with "business", but as he has proven time and time again, he is all too willing to torture one for answers. And that penchant for violence came at an early age, as we learn through his talks with Gia. Which lead me to the second point . . .
Discovery
Gia continues to try to understand Draco more, and it takes some time to draw the information out of him. But eventually, we gain understanding on what has made Draco the man he is today. How he was raised. How he turned to violence. And how he came to know about Toni's bad deeds.
By gaining this information, Gia grows closer to Draco and is finally able to let go of Toni.
It also becomes clear to everyone, that Gia is drawn to men like Draco.
While there seems to be an ongoing conflict between Gia and Draco, as they struggle with some of the terms of their new relationship, the overall pace felt slower. That is until the last 10%. That's when I knew another cliffy was coming. There are a number of twists, some that I saw coming but had forgotten about, and some that blindsided me.
Although there are a lot of questions that need to be answered, the biggest will be how can Gia get Draco to forgive her. Because man oh man did she mess up!!
So now we wait for book three . . . . hurry up Shanora!!
- Reviewed in the United States on January 16, 2025Oh my gawd! I freaking knew it! What. The. Fug! Gia done really pissed me off in this one like girl how so smart but so dumb at the same time! Ugh! Sheesh! But it definitely took me by surprise when Hernandez was revealed. I don’t remember anything but the name prior so I was shook! lol Off to book 3 now!
- Reviewed in the United States on February 17, 2017*Warning: this book is not a standalone. Don't read it without having read Passion & Venom first.*
I'll try not to spoil it because it was too awesome and people should experience it all by themselves.
I'm writing this review assuming you read book one. You know what happened in it; how it ended. You thought P&V was a wild ride, right? So wrong.
Things literally go boom in this one. But before I get ahead of myself, let me tell you, things are more intense. There will be times you'll want to shake some sense into Gia, there will be times you will be shaking your head at Draco's deeds. For a while, it's El Jefe vs. La Patrona and, as Gia herself wonders, who will win?
I loved that Gia still had her fighting spirit, even though she really messed up in this one. Granted, Draco isn't a good man, he's not easy to tolerate or trust at all. I was torn between understanding her - or trying to - and wanting to smack her upside the head for doing this or that.
As for El Jefe, we see a different side of him - we already caught glimpses of it in P&V - and my heart ached for him, at a certain scene.
I was ready to throw my kindle toward the end and then we were left with another cliffhanger - I knew this, I did, but I'm a sucker for Ms. Williams' writing - and, while certain questions got answered, I can't help but want to see the conclusion.
So, you have it darker, more twisted than book one, but with scenes that will tug at your heart and ones where you'll want to scream at the characters and their choices.
I loved this book, in spite of some things Draco did and am giving it 5 stars. I can't help it, Draco has made my short anti-hero-that-I-love list.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC copy of this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Just Brilliant!!!
Arrrrgggghhhh!!! That ending I need the next part now.
I absolutely love these books and I can't say enough good things about this Trilogy.
I swear I never saw that ending coming and I feel mad at myself for it.
The relationship between Draco and Gia is intense to say the least. He wants to own her in every way but she's stubborn and Gia wants the truth but will she be able to handle it when she finds out.
Sometimes secrets blow up in your face and trusting the wrong person can be deadly.
Trust doesn't come easy between these two it's a constant battle of wills and Gia knows just how to push Dracos buttons but will she push him to far?
Draco loves Gia that's obvious to anyone but he doesn't tolerate betrayal it's the one thing he won't let slide.
So when Gia goes against his wishes you can bet your life there will be consequences but just who will pay the price.
This book just sucked me in I couldn't stop reading. I love Draco so much he has such a controlling nature it's a bit much at times that I wanted to slap him, but he's so worth it. Damn the man is all kinds of sexy.
I need the next part like now because my jaw is still on the floor and I feel angry. I need to see some payback in the most painful of ways for some people. They really need to feel the full force of Dracos Wrath. Bring it on!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars OMG
The ending for this book just blew me away. The start was a little slow though. I hope Draco gets his revenge. Looking forward to reading the last book in this trilogy.

5.0 out of 5 stars The love story between the two main characters
Well that was some storyline. I thought the first Venom story was dark, but this is so much more. The way Gia and Draco bounce of each other. The power struggle is so electric ,immense and emotional. For some the way the rape scenes are described may well be to much. This is why I will not spoil it for others, but some may not have the stomach for such graphic brutality. Death abounds also , some ways this is handled is totally thought provoking. Some deserve what they get. There are innocents, but few and far between. The love story between the two main characters, again brutal but endearing . The descriptive text is very vivid in all areas. One can almost smell the flowers and feel and hear the sea . I now have to wait like all for the next novel in this explosive series, but feel I shall be reading both book one and two again before this happens. It is unfortunate one can't give a bonus star for such outstanding, unusual and exciting work, but I advise strongly all those thinking of giving this exceptional author a go. Think no more.

5.0 out of 5 stars Lord Gianna really showed her ass in book 2. ...
Lord Gianna really showed her ass in book 2. The story ended on another cliff hanger which I am not a fan of and what a humdinger it was!!! Jefe won my respect in book 2 because he demonstrated that although he can be harsh he knows exactly what he is talking about.
Now we have to wait for book 3 to come out which will be torture. Here is another reason why these kinds of 3 books stories get me down and I wish I just waited until all the books were out.
Definitely worth a read if you can stand the cliffhangers
