Vestry Vice: The Isle of Wesberrey Mysteries Book Six Kindle Edition
Knee-deep in offerings for the harvest festival and battling the bellringers who appear to be on strike, another mystery is the last thing Jess needs.
However, when the latest body is discovered, it coincides with the arrival of a film crew looking to make a documentary about the now-famous sleuthing vicar. Worse yet, the TV people are led by an old flame.
Unexpectedly at the center of her own true crime story, all she really wants to do is hide away with a pumpkin-spiced latte. Her cosy night by the fire will have to wait though. There’s a killer at large.
Add to the mix some clumsy attempts at courting from the school headmaster and more convincing romantic overtures from the handsome blast from the past and Jess is going to have her work cut out solving this one.

Review
"I love this series. I love the characters, all of them. Please keep them coming. The stories just suck me in totally."
"The characters are quirky, fun and impossible not to love. Jess's dilemma of being a priest with an unexpected gift from the goddesses just adds a unique level of challenges and fun to each mystery. I don't think any of the mysteries would be solved as quickly if it weren't for Jess pushing the limits on what's legal while sleuthing, and what isn't. So glad I found this series and can't wait for the next book."
"Brilliant - leaves me wanting more!!!"

About the authors
When Steve Higgs wrote his debut novel, Paranormal Nonsense, he was a captain in the British Army. He would like to pretend that he had one of those careers that must be blacked out and generally denied by the government, and that he has to change his name and move constantly because he is still on the watch list in several countries. In truth, though, he started out as a mechanic - not like Jason Statham in the film by that name, sneaking around as a hitman, but more like one of those sleazy guys who charges a fortune and keeps your car for a week even though the only thing you went in for was a squeaky door hinge.
At school, he was largely disinterested in all subjects except creative writing, for which he won his first prize at the age of ten. However, calling it the first prize he won suggests that there were other prizes, which is not the case. Awards may yet come, but in the meantime, he enjoys writing mystery and thriller novels and claims to have more than a hundred books forming a restless queue in his mind because they are desperate to be written.
Now retired from the military, he lives in southeast England with a duo of lazy sausage dogs. Surrounded by rolling hills, brooding castles, and vineyards, he doubts he'll ever leave, the beer is just too good.

- Reviewed in the United States on July 29, 2023A film crew is looking for juicy material and Jess is hoping that her secrets will stay hidden as she tries to solve a murder.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 22, 2023I like the characters on this little island, and enjoy seeing how the Vicar manages her varying responsibilities. I appreciate how the authors treat her calling with her heritage and her interesting family. Many demands for one person. Thank Goodness for Lawrence. A must read!
- Reviewed in the United States on February 19, 2023A film crew comes to the island to film the sleuthing vicar. Amongst the crew is Jess's former boyfriend. There is a lot happening on the island, the equinox festival, and then a murder.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 27, 2023Very interesting read. Come on Lawrence! Ask the question!
I really want to read the next adventure. When will it be available?
- Reviewed in the United States on August 6, 2024Don't know what to say the books in this series keep getting better and better. I highly recommend this author and the series. It is so very entertaining.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 26, 2023Jess, our valiant vicar and emergent channeler of dead people, is trying to do her day job and learn about her “powers” while dealing with a pushy TV crew headed by her former boyfriend. Amazingly, the local police inspector (and one of Jess’s former heart throbs) is beginning to think that some of Jess’s paranormal powers might just help him solve cases. Once again Jess can’t help investigating crimes committed in her parish. Successfully, as usual.
I received an arc copy of the book.

5.0 out of 5 stars another good mystery
I enjoyed this mystery book. I had an idea who the killer was and was right. Something that doesn’t happen all the time. Looking forward to the next book.

3.0 out of 5 stars The Weakest Link
In my opinion, this is the flimsiest book in the series.
Jess’s former boyfriend from back in her drama school days is in Wesberrey to do a documentary on the mystery solving minister.
Jess is concerned that Lawrence seems to be distancing himself just as she is starting to dream of marriage.

4.0 out of 5 stars Another good read
Another good read in this series that has kept me entertained. Quite short stories with a good set of characters and a good "Who dun it?"
