Then Fate delivers a cruel and heart-breaking blow when Bree is kidnapped by a malicious alien who wants her and her power. - Reviewed in the United States on August 10, 2019Format: KindleBook one in The Evoxian Legacies series by a new Author to me and I want to read the next book in this series. A well written story with a storyline that kept me turning pages as I had to know what was going to happen. I received a copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 5, 2018Format: KindleVerified PurchaseViolet Souls is a well-written, fast-paced read that draws you right in. I cannot begin to explain how much I enjoyed it.
Searching for clues about her birth parents, single mom, Brianna “Bree’ Mills, receives a violet pendant that’s been sitting in her adoption records for years.
The pendant will lead to all the answers she’s been searching for about her past and put her and her nine-year-old daughter, Lexie, in grave danger.
It’s difficult to review Violet Souls without touching on any of the wonderful plot twists, but…Bree is an alien, there’s an evil psychopath who wants to rule two planets and needs Bree to do it, she has a bonded mate… she just needs to remember him, oh, and there’s a dragon!
Bree is a character that slowly grows on you. I think in part because she’s always felt different and ostracized because of her violet eyes and stilted personality. She felt distant in the first few chapters. However, as her past is revealed to her, she comes into her own as a woman and a patari.
What’s not to love about her mate and rescuer, Quinn Taylor? My heart broke for him as he waited for Bree to remember him. Drew is also awesome and while I felt sorry for him at first, I soon learned he’s going to be just fine.
Adoptive sister, Jane, is an outlandish jewel and I hope to see more of her in the next book She's the total opposite of Bree and a breath of fresh, hilarious air. But I think I loved Lexie the most, so undaunted and unfazed by it all and coming into her own… rather quickly. And special kudos to Maya!
Looking forward to book two and maybe a trip to Evox. With so many mysteries of the Akui being revealed, perhaps something can be done to help the planet. But, only after something is done about Michael Locke. That’s one crazy alien.
I highly recommend this awesome read!
Enjoy!
- Reviewed in the United States on September 16, 2018Format: KindleVerified PurchaseI have never read this author before, and I quite enjoyed this first book. It has action, romance and evil people but also heroes.
Everything you need in a book.
Can't wait for the next one.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 3, 2019Format: KindleI wasn't prepared for how good or how chock-full of good things this story would be. I have read one other item by Ms. MacMunn and it was delightful also, but much shorter and with less in it, of course. This story drew me in quickly and kept me there with a daylight kidnapping off the street, fights, shootings, a car chase--and that was the opener! The tale has aliens on Earth, shapeshifters, talismans, a "good doggie" white Alsatian, a dragon, laser weapons, a mad scientist, a fight for control of Earth and perhaps of Evox as well with lots of Michael's bad minions and Adam's good minions, love, loss, sorrow, recovery. growth, telepathy, teleportation, shielding--and I've probably forgotten half the interesting things--oh! like childhood dreams foretelling the future.
The only time I put it down was for a bathroom break or to get some sleep, reluctantly (I was having trouble seeing the words). There were quiet moments, but few of them. This is the first in a series of Evoxian Legacy tales Abbey will be writing. I'm looking forward to finding out more about Evox and if it can be saved, whether they ever stop Michael Locke and his evil and insane machinations, and what happens to the other people in the story with Bree and Quinn like Lexie and Drew, and Jane and Adam and others you'll meet. I really like that the females in this story kick ass, and don't wait for a man to do the hero work--if there's a possible chance for them to do something, they do it! I am so glad I read this story, even though it was a major pain to read in pdf. it was well worth it because the story itself is wonderful, finding a new author with a new series I love will grow out of it. Try it, you'll like it!
- Reviewed in the United States on September 9, 2018Format: KindleViolet Souls was really interesting it has aliens talismans and more. Bree a single mom finds out she isn't as human as she has thought. The man from her dreams (Quinn) that she has been having for years is real and also an alien from Evox whom it turns out she has a bond with. Michael the antagonist was a really awful character with what he was doing with the human women and their wombs. I loved how strong Bree was after he kidnapped her. Those scenes brought out a lot of emotions for me. One of my favorite scenes was when Quinn show Bree their bonding moment.

#sci-fi meets shifting
The Good
This was a fresh twist on the bonding type of werewolf story. In fact, it goes dimensional and introduces us to new planets (EVOX). I enjoyed the new approach and had fun reading it.
The Bad
I loved the start and the end of the story. The mix with Michael and the wombs, saving things made this a Star Trek mix with a strong woman. I love strong woman stories!
The Ugly
A strong start and finish. The middle dipped only slightly. Four stars from me, but I would like to read more.
4 Stars - I read this as part of a blog tour and have published the review on Goodreads and my blog Six Tinder Weeks

4.0 out of 5 stars One for fans of paranormal and fantasy romance
Format: KindleVerified PurchaseViolet Souls is a unique romance that will appeal to fans of PNR and fantasy romance alike. At its heart is the story of fated mates Bree and Quinn, who uncover their feelings for one another while Bree learns about her alien heritage and the planet Evox for the first time. The concept is totally original and the subplot centring on the Evoxian's fertility problems is gripping. The supporting characters are well drawn and likeable. Overall this is an enjoyable read and it is refreshing to see a paranormal romance set in the UK, even if the heroine does have a rather unromantic preoccupation with drinking tea at crucial moments. A great first book in what will hopefully be a long running series.

4.0 out of 5 stars Romance and adventure that’s out of this world!
Format: KindleVerified PurchaseI loved this so much I’ve read it twice. There’s romance, adventure and danger, and a fascinating new culture to explore, with aliens living on Earth. Yet it’s very grounded in our modern world. Bree, the shy heroine, hasn’t had much luck with men... though that’s about to change, when the man from her dreams walks into her life.
I enjoyed Bree’s journey from shy and awkward to courageous and confident. I liked her kindness and desire to help others, even when she’s facing terrible danger.
There’s deep, soulful chemistry with Quinn and delightful banter between the characters.
I’m looking forward to reading the next book in this series.
