    I read and review a fair number of books, and I typically write my reviews pretty immediately after finishing a story. I finished this one a while ago though, and kind of struggled with how to put my opinion into words without sounding ridiculously effusive. ‘Her Virtuous Viscount’ is the 6th book in Scarlett Scott’s “Wicked Husband” series. It follows ‘Her Missing Marquess’ in the series order, and that book is where you first meet to hero of this one, Tom, Viscount Sidmouth. This book can be read completely as a stand-alone, but I think it’s even better if you read that one and learn where virtuous Tom’s problems originate.

    Tom has a broken heart. The woman he loved broke off their engagement after basically using him to manipulate the husband she was divorcing. Tom has sworn off love and marriage, and just wants to quietly drink away his sorrows. A young widow rents the house next door and moves in with her barking dog and her raucous parties, aggravating and embittering him even more. Hyacinth, Lady Southwick, is finally done with mourning the welcomed death of her vicious, abusive husband. She is determined to embrace the opportunity to live life the way she wants to, free from misery. She has sworn off love and marriage as being a way women are forced to live under the control of men, and has firmly resolved to never put herself in that vulnerable situation again. I don’t want to recount the plot any further, except to say they discover they have an intense mutual physical attraction, and decide to indulge in that for 2 weeks then walk away from each other. I’m sure you can guess it won’t be that simple.

    There is plenty of heat and humor in this book, and great secondary characters including a mischievous little pug dog. Scott has crafted a wonderful story of 2 special people who are drawn together powerfully enough to overcome the dark shadows of their respective pasts. As the reader you can’t wait for them to get together, and then it’s bittersweet when they do have their HEA because that means that our window into their world has closed. There were a lot of emotions packed into this story, but it was done so very well that it left me with a happy ‘book hangover.’ Now I have my fingers crossed tightly that Tom and Hyacinth’s best friends, Lottie and Brandon, will get their turn in the spotlight soon!

    Both Hyacinth and Tom came from difficult relationships- hers more so than his, but still rough. They both swore off marriage, but desired one another. It’s fun to watch a couple grow to know and truly care for one another, and these two fit that bill.

    Tom was such a gentle and kind man. He wasn’t overbearing or rough. He was loving and supportive. He preferred to woo and win rather than demand and take. He was just what Hyacinth needed to heal and grow from her traumatic previous marriage. Tom was a beautiful example of a loving partner.

    I found myself frustrated a bit with how stubborn the two could be at times. Overall, the book was well written and engaging. The story was lovely and I enjoyed seeing their HEA.

    I wasn't sure I would like this story as the hero is introduced in "Her Missing Marques," as the antagonist; but in this novel, his actions and thoughts were explained to my complete satisfaction.
    Tom has spent his life following his mother's dying wish: that he find and hold onto happiness. He's handsome, well-mannered and caring.
    Hyacinth is a beautiful widow who has vowed to never marry again. She's loving, intelligent and determined to be happy, after five years of punishing misery.
    My take away from this beautiful story is one of healing. Tom's bruised heart is healed by Hyacinth's loving attraction (all be it a verbal contracted duration).
    Tom's unwavering interest in her, his ability to allow her needs to take the lead begins the journey to healing Hyacinth's battered mind. One layer at a time, the hurts inflicted upon her by a mentally damaged husband, and neglect of prideful parents allows her to put her past firmly where it belongs: in the past.

    To those who are squeamish of descriptive love scenes please know there are a few more than typically found in Scarlett's work. However, given Hyacinth's backstory, they truly ARE necessary in moving Hyacinth and Tom to their happily ever after.
    I read this book on Kindle Unlimited, but at about the 43rd percent mark I decided it (like many of her others) belonged in my permanent kindle library.
    It is a wonderful story well worth my time and funds.

    It only got fair because I found it hard to get thru. It was consistent steamy sex throughout the book from about chapter 3 to the end. There was no erotica, which I would term spanking, tying up, etc. However, there wasn't much dialogue between characters. Normally, I thoroughly enjoy this author's books, but this one was a fail.

Of course, we met Lord Sidmouth in the previous story, he was in love with Nell. I am so glad that he found happiness at last after Nell broke his heart. Hyacinth is such a lovely lady. Their passion is palpable and you can feel it on every page. I read this book within 2 days. It’s such a captivating sensual story. I would say it’s the perfect end to the series, only I hope it is not the end of the wicked husbands yet and we learn what happened to Lady Grenfell and the Duke of Brandon who appeared in this story. Please Scarlett we need their story!

    I honestly loved the story, I haven't read any of the books in the series but I have read others by Scarlett Scott. This only received four stars as the steamy scenes (usually a perk of the book) were a bit long and i ended up skipping them to get back to the story!
    Recommend reading. And I will probably read again without skipping bits.
