About the author

USA TODAY Bestselling Author Samantha Holt is known for fun, witty, and usually steamy historical romances. She's been a full-time writer for longer than she ever thought possible having originally trained as a nurse and an archaeologist. She's a champion napper, owner of too many animals, mum to twins, and lives in a small village near the very middle of England.
She's usually writing (or napping) but when she's not, Samantha is plotting (books of course!) with her husband, drinking coffee, climbing hills that are far too high for her fitness levels or visiting stately homes and pretending she's posh.

If you're not sure where to start, why not try:
▶ Capturing the Bride (The Kidnap Club #1). A fun Regency read full of spice and an unusual heroine trying to escape an arranged marriage and a hero who has no idea how to keep his hands off her!
▶ You're the Rogue That I Want (Rogues of Redmere #1) is a longer read with heat, witty dialogue, a feisty heroine and adventure. All books in the series are standalone.
▶ There Are Plenty More Dukes in the Sea (The Inheritance Clause #1) is a fun, steamy read focused on the Templeton family as they fight to save their inheritance.
▶ Wake Me With a Kiss is a sweet, fairytale romance. Twists on Beauty and the Beast and Cinderella are also available if you love a clean, fun read.
▶ To Steal a Highlander's Heart is a full length dive into the world of sexy highlanders. For those who love braw Scots, some steamy scenes, and medieval romance, this series is a perfect escape.

- Reviewed in the United States on July 29, 2023Maisie returns to Oakfield after ten years to reopen her family’s inn. The last person she wanted to see seems determined to see her. Apollo Everly, Viscount Chesham, was a rebellious youth and create havoc in Oakfield. The village did not like him then, and they do not want him or his help now. Apollo broke Maisie’s heart ten years ago. He approaches her now to help him rebuild the village after a devastating flood. He is trying to make up for his poor choices as a youth, which may not be everything they seem. Maisie wants independence, and using an inheritance from her aunt, she plans to achieve it by bringing the family inn back to life. Although it did not go smoothly, she and the villagers warm up to Apollo and begin to work with him. There are still feelings between Apollo and Maisie, but will they lead to a new start and a happily ever after? This is a well-written engaging second-chance romance with an awesome hero and heroine and a wonderful group of supporting characters. There is a hitch in their plans, or at least Maisie’s, when her brother James drops a huge problem on her doorstep. There are some hold-your-breath moments, some danger, disappointment, an exciting “rescue,” a lovely slow-burn romance and a happy ending. A great story to start a new series.
I received an ARC of this book via BookSprout and voluntarily reviewed it.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 8, 2024I found the story very interesting lovers separated finally returned to each
It has a good storyline.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 9, 2023You cannot give a character a title when it already belongs to someone. A simple Google search would tell you there is a real live Lord Chesham! Very careless!
- Reviewed in the United States on November 9, 2024A second chance romance that, while at times bittersweet, it also had funny moments. Maisie and Apollo have known each other forever, and that’s where the story begins. As usual, Ms. Holt doesn’t disappoint.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 18, 2024Many interesting things happen in this story, some good and some dangerous, but most of all, it’s a love story. It was very endearing to read how much Apollo loved Maisie. After ten lost years, they finally got their happy ending. I really enjoyed reading it.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 2, 2023The following are my thoughts as I read this book. Maisie Beaufort…independence, fresh start, desires to be the owner of the family coaching inn. Apollo Everly…Viscount Chesham (does not like the position), not well liked in his (kind of naughty and selfish seeming kid/young man) village of Oakfield, desires to help his village after very bad weather wreaks havoc. The h is finally able to do something she has dreamed about most of her life. The H wants to do the right thing but he cannot get anyone to accept his offers. It’s funny both the MCs are trying to pretend that their history has no impact on present life. The H has his idea of what the h should be doing and where she should be but it is in direct conflict with what the h actually wants, LOL. Well the village is very protective of the h even though she has been away for quite some time. The h has mixed thoughts about the H until the hops. I am liking the slow build up as the MCs rekindle their friendship and possibly their romance. Oh neat there is an unexpected but endearing surprise. Ahh family sometimes has a way of thwarting plans and the h’s brother fits that description. Oh the H really has strong feelings for the h, even risking his life to ensure she can fulfill her dream. The h misunderstands a situation and is persuaded by her brother to make a rash decision. The H dares to attempt a foolish task without the h knowing, uh uh uh. Both the MCs are spending too much time trying to figure out what the other is thinking instead of just talking to one another. Yes finally there is some communication as well as some surprises in Oakfield. This is a HEA with a slight hint as to one of the main characters in the next story. This is book one in the Spinsters and Rebels series. It is a tale of reclaimed love. There is adult language and steam.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 31, 2023I have enjoyed this book. I was reading a book that was sad and I had to go off it for a while. Maisie and Apollo had years of being apart but love didn’t fail them.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 5, 2023The beginning is a little confusing but it get better, and the two main characters do realize that they want to be together!

5.0 out of 5 stars Good storyline, good storytelling.
Enjoyable story for once not set in London. Great characters and a heroine who knows exactly what she wants and is determined to succeed in spite her brothers stupidity.
