The Spider and The Fly: A Chronicles of Breed Novel (The Chronicles of Breed) Kindle Edition
There is a saying amongst the killers of the Midnight Court, when rivals cross paths, blades always follow.
Shey Jing is an honourable warrior, Sebastian Schiller a louche, schism touched bounty hunter known as 'the Mosquito'.
They are given a simple choice when they cross paths with the Roach King; work together or die together.
But simple isn't easy when two people hate each other.
Thrown together by capricious Fate, the arrachid and the Mosquito must overcome their many, many differences and complete their mission. Only then can they get on with the real business of fighting over who gets to kill the Guild Blade they're hunting.
"This is not your business, mercenary," she said as she advanced.
"Oh, but you are mistaken, dear lady. Collecting bounties is absolutely my business. Aside from bringing joy to the world with my wit, charm, and sartorial elegance it is literally what I do."

About the author

Head over to my website where you can also get two free prequels from The Chronicles of Breed and be kept up to date with new releases.
KT Davies accidentally became a professional actor, was in a Troma movie, and performed in an award-winning play at the Edinburgh Festival. KT has also worked as a drama teacher, a scaffolder, and a server in numerous restaurants because, actor. At some point our hero skidded sideways into theatrical prop making, (including work for Shakespeare's Globe Theatre), before falling into the dread, Pit of Writing, which it turns out, isn't actually that dreadful.

I really enjoyed this book. I wasn't expecting the antihero Breed to only be present in the first few pages and the rest of the story to be about two of his past antagonists seeking their individual revenge on him and forced to accompany and accommodate each other. But the book is very well written with good plotting, character development and pacing. Looking forward to their return trip and what other adventures they run into.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 5, 2022Our beloved Breed makes no more than a cameo appearance in this chronicle.
An unlikely pair embark on a highly unlikely quest after failing to capture the ever slippery Breed.
The quest starts in a strange, subterranean lair, where they are forced into signing a binding contract. One that means this mismatched pair have to trot across mean, evil landscapes, encountering, mean, evil creatures of increasingly strange appearance.
It all gets terribly debauched, as the Fly (mosquito) flits about fully engaged with his inner dandy. Meanwhile the dour spider, maintains an angst ridden inner dialogue of self loathing, guilt and a puritanical devotion to family honor.
Much, blood, gore, drinking, fire, sex and more blood ensue.
Enjoyable, looking forward to these two flying, ( with help of talented spiders) again, spilling more blood and wrestling with moral conundrums. Recommended
- Reviewed in the United States on December 22, 2022The story is a welcome tangent to the Breed saga. Two unlikely characters are thrown together by the floor falling out from beneath them. Their path has them growing as individuals as well as a great team.
K.T. Davies leaves you hanging as the story ends in chaos. The conclusion only Mrs S knows.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 22, 2022I did not get this book for free, so I will not drop any spoilers here.. If you are familiar with the Chronicles of Breed books, this is a companion novel, but it is also a stand alone book. I did get my first Breed book for free however, and I was hooked. This would make a great movie, (or series of movies) because if you are like me and find Hollywood stale anymore... well, enter Breed. In my opinion, The chronicles of Breed are on the same level with the Harry Potter novels... only Breed contains more swearing! LOVE THESE BOOKS! Get ya some!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great addition to the "Chronicles of Breed" series!
This book is set in the Chronicles of Breed series, which I love.
When I started this book I wasn't sure how I was going to like a book in this world without Breed. But Sebastian 'the Mosquito' Schiller ans Shey Jing are such amazing characters that I kinda forgot about Breed.
I really hope there'll be a sequel!

5.0 out of 5 stars A wild and heady ride
I hope you enjoy heists and odd couples. In hope you enjoy a dance of opposites. In hope you enjoy world building done through the language, with slang that you grasp the meaning of from context alone.
I hope you enjoy tension and drama and last minute escapes. I hope you enjoy clever, clear beautiful writing.
If you do enjoy these things then you should pick up this book. If you don't, I am sad for you and really can't recommend it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Prettt good read
Liked the characters and the world setting, reading the chronicles of breed isnt a prerequisite to enjoy this book but doing so covers so much more of the world setting

5.0 out of 5 stars Fast paced thriller with classy characters
The best book in the Breed series so far, even through Breed isn't in it! Detailed and likeable characters have a scary thrilling adventure taking on a psychopathic archduke, like entering an Ian M. Banks novel.
