Never Have I Ever: Punched my Roommate's V-Card Kindle Edition

4.3 out of 5 stars 3,009 ratings

Why can’t I stop thinking about my roommate after walking in on him “taking care of business?”

What should have been a humiliating experience for both of us ends up being the start of one of the best friendships I’ve ever had. Finn is smart, adorkable, and his shyness pushes all my buttons. The problem? My interest in him quickly shifts from friendship to something less than platonic. Feelings I’ve been pushing down for years bubble up to the surface, and I find myself unable to see him as just a friend, or keep my hands to myself.

When a night out leads to some extracurricular fun, Finn and I decide to have a no-strings-attached fling. He’s the perfect person to explore my bisexuality with, and our chemistry is off the charts. Finn might still have his V-Card, but he’s not inexperienced, and the more we’re together, the more we learn about ourselves.

Until it’s not enough.

I want him, and he wants me, but the idea of coming out terrifies me. Is Finn the person who can help me discover who I am? And can I get my head out of my a*s in time to prove to him I’m worth taking a chance on?

Beck and Finn’s story is a friends-to-lovers MM romance between roommates who discover that opposites really do attract. Expect super hot, slightly kinky encounters, a houseful of quirky college guys, and a ton of sweetness once this jock and nerd finally get on the same page. It is the first novel in the exciting new Never Have I Ever series but can be read as a standalone.

What can I say about myself? It’s kind of like being the new kid in school and being asked to tell everyone a bit about yourself. Anyone else forget everything they’ve ever liked, thought of, and even their name in those moments?

A few facts about me; I’m Canadian, and I love books! I’ve been writing my own stories since I was eight and wrote my first novel at sixteen. I’m the first to admit those attempts weren’t my best work, but they started me on a journey of creating stories that has led me to fulfilling my dream of becoming an author, and I’m so happy to be able to share my stories with people today.

I currently live on Canada’s east coast with my kiddo and my cat. I have a shoe collecting addiction, and I enjoy reading anything and everything I can get my hands on.

First of all, I have to commend the author for a sharply immaculate manuscript; (almost) 100% typo and error free. I think I found only one instance of a sentence with a missing word. Well done. That earns 2 of my 3 stars!
Unfortunately, I can't say that I was as enamored with this book as the majority of my fellow readers.
Yes, the book is well written. No complaints there.
Yes, I enjoyed the engaging dialogue (which always makes a book come alive for me).
But, as I think back on the book as a whole, it seems to consist of nothing but physics lectures and bedroom shenanigans... Back to back and cover to cover. This stuff totally overpowers the underlying plot, which, right now, I couldn't even tell you what it was.

I found the character of Finn to be weirdly inconsistent. For someone who claimed to be a V he is astoundingly "experienced" and clued up on all the technicalities and techniques involving s#x, (particularly since he's only 20 yrs old)
Same goes for Beck actually. His transition from being "straight" to diving feet first into a man/man relationship was astonishingly easy.
His only hang-up seemed to be that he insisted on keeping it all a secret.

OK, all that has moved the plot along OK, and with zero drama or angst of any kind. But then, all of a sudden, the "kinks" come into play, almost as if the author was at a loss as to where to go from there in order to fill up her planned 300+ pages.
So from here onwards Finn & Beck's whole relationship is based on how exhibitionistic they can be (even though it's really all pseudo-exhibitionism).
This, which has the potential to be very exciting reading, just kind of fell flat and felt forced.
And then (drumroll) came the last chapter...
This, for me, was like someone had, at the end of an already unsatisfactory read, taken a pin to the balloon and just let all the air out. That introduction to more kinky stuff: handcuffs, bondage, filming, 'the swing'... whatever (all suggested since it was a wrap of the book) just made me roll my eyes and go "🙄 ahhrgh, what WTF NEXT? Give me a break!" (TIP: if you're going to even so much as suggest BDSM elements, put it in the blurb so there aren't any surprises)
It's a miracle I actually finished this book. It's unlikely that I'll try another by this author.
    1 star for story/plot.
2 stars for editing and execution.

I loved everything about this. I loved Beck, the quintessential little-brother-of-many-sisters who shows that even someone supremely confident in themselves can be terrified of what it means to come out. I loved Finn, who embodied the shy-till-the-weird-kicks-in that so many of us introverts have.

The switch dynamics between these two are perfection and the heat is off the charts. (The club? The library??)

All around a great read where both parties are invested in each other and respect one another and it’s still smoking hot wothout much angst.

In love. In lust. Definitely one for the permanent collection.

    ***Spoilers here and there***

Glad I went back to finish this book. Enjoyed it; I can say it a 4.5 close to a 5. I love the fact that Beck finally told people about him and Finn. Especially Alex knowing that they were best friends. But I also knew Matt, Eli and Alex heard them (Finn and Beck) when they got together in Beck room. I mean they all shared a house together. Them rooms I know you can hear in them….

Besides all of that I’m glad that Beck best friend - Mike and his wife supported him coming out and not only them his family as well!!! Because I can say Finn parents wasn’t good for him to deal with for that long… not him being gay or anything but for them controlling his life and wanting him to be a lawyer when he was into space, stars and the planets. I was glad when his brother Dex talked some sense into him to help him understand that he (Finn) needed to do what was best for him!!!!!

I was glad for all of that and the happy ending!!

I absolutely loved this story. Never Have I Ever: Punched My Roommates V Card is a super sweet, and steamy bj-awakening love story. Beck is a popular student who goes to parties pretty regularly with his friends. Finn a a shy, more nerdy student who likes to stay in. They’ve been roommates for a few months but haven’t really talked much. One night Finn joins Beck and two of his friends/roommates in a game of never have I ever. After some of the things Finn reveals during the game Beck wants to get to know him more.

Beck Decides he’s going to be Finn’s wingman and help him get a date. As they hangout and get to know each other, Beck starts to realize his feelings for Finn might be more than just friends. Finn has had a crush on Beck for awhile so he’s pretty into anything Beck might want to try.

Their relationship is very cute, and romantic. They have a great bond and incredible chemistry. They are adorable and so sportive of each other. I just loved their relationship so much. The other roommates were great characters as well and I can’t wait for them to get their own stories.

I did receive a free ARC of this book but that did not influence my review.

    !RECOMMEND!

I really enjoyed this story. I think I found my new favorite author. ❤️📚🏳️‍🌈

The story was light and easy read...

Beck is straight... At least he is telling that to himself. All that goes out the window when he starts to see his roomie Finn in a new light.

Finn well... He is a shy introvert that doesn't like crowds and can relax around someone only when he gets to know them really well.

Finn and Beck start to hang out and Beck gets jealous and realizes that he has hots for a guy and that it's not the first time it happened.

It's a light funny relaxing read.

After reading Stepbrother Dearest I knew I needed to come back and read the Never Have I Evers first and boy was I not disappointed. Finn & Beck's story was incredibly hot, occasionally emotional, but oh so sweet. I laughed, I cried, I fanned myself more than once. Absolutely amazing.

I wanted to throttle Finn's parents more than once and also shake Beck a few times too but in the end every moment was worth it and I loved this book so much. I've been meaning to read Willow's books for a while and I am so glad I've gotten into them now. Can't wait to keep reading more.
