DCI Yorke and his team are hot on the heels of a sadistic killer, one who thinks he is an Aztec God, one That is bringing the Second Coming, A new world, A world that can only become through human sacrifice!

As Yorke's is trying on to track this killer, A killer who took the life of one of his former cops, more bodies mount, and it appears that this killer is more than just doing this for sacrifice, he nay enjoy it.

The Repenting Serpent is a 5 Star page turner that will leave you on edge until the very end.

I have researched many religions, and never have I read or seen anything like this. Maybe devil worship comes close. I was caught up in this book from the beginning, and it was hard to put down when I had to. I found it to be very well written , creepy as all get out, but not so outlandish that I couldn't see how a mad mind would be caught up in this way! And at the end of this whirlwind of twists and turns I read the ending and my heart was happy. And it seemed that thongs were as they should be in this type of situation!

Sick, depraved, lunatic, psychopath.. Those are how I describe the actions of the killer.. In the end they got the bad guy, but that's just one of many.. I feel for Ewan.. my heart was in my throat..

I thought One Last Prayer for the Rays was macabre, but this one is even more so. I would not like to live in the imagination of Wes Markin! The plot is twisted, misinterpretation on the part of the reader adds to suspense, the same characters from book one made it easier to keep up, but I still do not like having the psychopath rejected girlfriend popping up (too deja vu from different authors, Mr. Markin). I give the book 4 stars because I know there are readers who like weird, twisted plot lines; it's just not my preference. Good luck, Mr. Markin!

This is a great book. I was sitting on the edge of my chair most of the time. You want to read the first book first otherwise you might be lost on a few of the characters in the book. This is a stand alone book it's not necessary to read the other book.

    Suspenseful.
    Very likable characters.
Lacey Ray helped with a murder investigation? Surprise!
    Yorke is a great character.
I will read the next book.

Absurd plot. The explanation of the Aztec story line was so tedious I skipped whole sections. Won’t read any further books by this author.

I am really enjoying these books in the Yorke series. This is the 2nd one I have read and they have both been very suspenseful, finding it hard to put down type of books. If you enjoy a brilliant detective story then I highly recommend this series. Brilliant author

4.0 out of 5 stars Dark and disturbing but gripping
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on August 15, 2021
Wow! What a disturbing yet enthralling read. The subject matter is quite unusual with the murderer thinking he is an Aztec and trying to relive their ancient religious traditions.

This is quite a violent read but in my view, makes it more enjoyable. This time Yorke and his team are personally involved as the first victim is the estranged wife of their colleague. At the same time, Jake is still being taunted by Lacey Ray, following on a theme from the first book.

I highly recommend this book and the series and looking forward to seeing what twisted subject matter comes in the next one.
