About the authors
Joshua James followed an unusual path to arrive here (i.e. writing in third person about himself in an author biography). He has worked as both an accountant and a graphic artist. Before either of those pursuits, he submitted a string of short stories to Analog, Asimov's, F&SF and Interzone. He even got a couple published. But finding an agent and writing on spec dampened his enthusiasm. Still, his childhood love for Robotech and ST:TNG meant he could never truly ignore his geek side (and also meant he wrote Star Trek/Robotech crossover fan fiction--yes, that's a thing). He has written or co-written more than 50 novels. They all involve spaceships. Joshua lives outside Washington D.C. with his family.

I grew up on a steady diet of Star Trek and Star Wars. My stories evoke my love for those kinds of space opera tales mixed with a healthy dose of action. I hope you enjoy reading them as much as I do writing them! Join my newsletter, Captain's Log, and get a free book of short stories by visiting BookHip.com/BRQVBF

- Reviewed in the United States on December 21, 2020In this installment of the fight to the finish between humans, Arstans and Foorints, Captain Olson and crew are nearly the only human combatants remaining, and their high command are under Tauian mind control, so they get no real support or help. Meanwhile, Inck and Oort, the Tauians pushing the competition, keep changing the conditions, adding shape-shifters, weapons, etc., in an attempt to eliminate the humans. Our heroes are always at death’s door, narrowly escaping each foray, but can their luck hold out against superior forces and subterfuge? The story has lots of action which kept me engrossed, rooting for the god guys! I’m thoroughly enjoying this series and am looking forward to the next book. I received an ARC – this review is my honest opinion. I bought a copy when the book was released to support this great writer.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 20, 2020One cannot really fault the Tauians on strategic thinking.
They have the human high command in thrall and the Okranti with Captain Olsen on the run with nowhere to go.
At least, that is what they thought till the Foorints appeared on the scene.
But then, these aliens have only an antiquated fleet. And with Ambassador Oort scheming with turned Okranti staff the prospects of survival for Captain Olsen and the crew looks rather bleak.
But desperation can in itself be a weapon too even against stacked odds.
Enjoy.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 15, 2021I thoroughly enjoyed this book! I am eager to read the next adventure. I just soaked up the story and wish I hadn’t read it so quickly, now I must have patience waiting for the next step in this series. A very satisfied reader!
Thank you for all the fun.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 22, 2022The writing is good enough to almost make you believe, the characters are consistent and the dialogue rings true. You want to follow the series to the end
- Reviewed in the United States on February 25, 2021Excellent plot line.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 20, 2020This was entertaining Space Opera. I felt there was a lot of information in a very short amount of time. IMHO another 100 pages could have cleared up some of the gaps. Outside of my iPhone screen that's probably 30 pages in the real world. It felt like some key information was edited out for brevity.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 29, 2020Book three picks up where book 2 has left off: Captain Olsen has just is now on the run with the second “Spatial Detonator”, a device that can control the minds of anyone who comes in contact with it or turn them into mindless monsters controlled by the Tauians, an advanced race from another whose ultimate goal is the control of our galaxy. It is now clear that the Tauians are in control of URSA command and they have been turned against Olsen and his crew, and they are trying to reacquire the mind control spatial detonator from Olsen. Things are not looking good for the Captain Olsen and his crew. But along the way they acquire new allies as well as new enemies. Book three will continue to keep you on the edge of your seat as Olsen and his crew fight space battles and improvise ways to keep the ultimate weapons out of the hands of Earth’s enemies. There is still plenty of action, humor, and epic space battles that will leave you looking for the next.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 18, 2020Olsen and his crew are back for another adventure as they try to stay ahead of everyone that is out to get them. The story was interesting and entertaining as they did what they had to survive and stay out of Tauian and their own people's control. Kept me guessing what was going to happen next and found it entertaining. I received an advance copy and enjoyed it.
