Walk on the Wildsyde (Wicked Sons Book 8) Kindle Edition
*NOTE: The original version released on Friday, September 27, 2024 had a chapter out of place. This issue has since been resolved.*
The devil’s own luck…
Hamilton Anderson is the luckiest fellow in Scotland, or so people say. Everything he touches turns to gold. Having been given the running of the herring boat business his father had begun decades before, Hamilton continues the earl’s work with gusto, creating a shipping business that exports Scottish herring, whisky, and wool to a voracious market before trying his hand at running a distillery. There’s no shortage of whisky in Wick, but Hamilton’s is the finest, and much in demand. The only fly in his ointment is the Reverend Robert Halliday, who seems intent on spoiling Hamilton’s fun.
To bear and forbear…
Miss Clara Halliday considers herself a sensible and strong-willed young woman with a good deal of fortitude – a necessary attribute if one is to endure her father’s sermons every Sunday. While she believes she is as godly and Christian as the next young lady, her rather prosaic attitude to life stands her in good stead when her father takes her to live in Wick, which from his description seems to be a veritable Sodom and Gomorrah. There she inevitably crosses paths with the man her father has condemned as Satan in the flesh and, much to her dismay, finds herself unwillingly charmed by the wicked man.
Not that she’s about to let him know that.
A terrible temptation…
Of all the daft things Hamilton has done in his life, getting involved with a vicar’s daughter is not one of them, until now. Yet being scolded and lectured by Clara Halliday is Hamilton’s new favourite pastime, with the possible exception of teasing her and making her blush. Yet the Reverend Halliday is out to destroy Hamilton with a temperance movement, which is not everything it seems to be. As feelings run high, Hamilton realises he’s not playing games anymore.
Yet, try as he might, proving to the lovely Clara he’s not the devil he’s been painted is becoming increasingly complicated.

- Reviewed in the United States on February 24, 2025This was a wonderful book and a lovely addition to the Wicked Sons series. Emma is such a good storyteller and the characters she’s created make me feel like I’ve known them for years. I’ll surely cry if she ever closes out these series’!
- Reviewed in the United States on October 2, 2024Please go back and fix the order of the chapters. I was so confused about the kiss scene that didn’t happen until I got to like chapter 16 and all the missing text was there. Please, please, edit!!!
- Reviewed in the United States on December 19, 2024The story was delightful and the secondary characters add a lot to the story. A sheltered vicar’s daughter, Clara, with the secret intent to find a husband and separate from her father, meets a rogue, Hamilton Anderson. Clara doesn’t always agree with her father so she’s not so sure Hamilton is the devil as her father believes. Hamilton is a successful and caring man and his whiskey is shipped all over. He decides to open a club right across the street from the new vicar who is hell bent on eradicating the evil drink.
If you have the original / un-updated book, read the chapter 10, which is labeled chapter 9, after 15.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 15, 2024I loved Clara and Hamilton story. She a vicars daughter who was raised that any kind of liquor is the devils brew. She doesn’t always agree with her father so when she meets Hamilton Anderson she not so sure. Hamilton is a very successful man and his whiskey is shipped all over. He decides to open a club in Wick right across the street from the new vicar who is hell bent on eradicating the evil drink from Wick. A wonderful story with a beautiful ending.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 27, 2024Someone didn't do their job. A whole chapter in this book was misplaced. Obviously, a whole scene of passionate kissing, which should have been after page 151, didn't show up until page 252. This book, to me, was better than the last one in the series. Who wouldn't love Hamilton? Arrogant (or should I say confident) but amazingly kind. Clara is adorable. If you can ignore the repetitive use of the words "dreadful" and "creature" then you will enjoy this book. Hopefully the mechanics will get fixed. The storyline/plot was believable and the secondary characters add much to the story.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 4, 2024I just loving these series by Emma V Leech! It was so hard to put down this book once I started. I was glued to the end.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 28, 2024The book was actually lovely. Very enjoyable and believable. The characters involved are very believable and I simply love Jimmy. I did have to come to the reviews after flipping back and forth in the book to try and understand how such an important scene was missed, I thought I had somehow missed a very important turning point. Yes the scene is in the book, but very out of sequence. I skipped to that section before continuing on so the events that unfolded made more sense. I’m sure this will be corrected in an update, but for now it’s a little bothersome. Overall a wonderful story, I look forward for to each installment! I am very much looking forward to Harry’s story and hopefully very soon, Leo’s!
- Reviewed in the United States on October 1, 2024Absolutely wonderful! Just be sure to read the real chapter 10 which is labeled chapter 9 after 15. It is an absolutely critical scene. Other than that i loved it so much! Both of the characters clearly had chemistry and deserved their HEA.

4.0 out of 5 stars Chapters out of order
I thoroughly enjoy all of these books and was eagerly anticipating this latest instalment.
I enjoyed the story building between Hamilton and Clara but at one point thought I had missed something. I went back three times to see where Hamilton had kissed Clara in the alley, but could not find it. Then after the fire scene concluded, suddenly chapter 16 detailed it. It is definitely printed it out of order - hopefully a revision is made to put this in the proper place to make the story flow properly. Looking forward to Leo and Vi’s story next!

5.0 out of 5 stars So Enjoyable
Clara arrives in Wick with her father the new reverend, with the secret intent to find a husband and start a life for herself. Hamilton lives in Wick thinking he is need of nothing, less than ever a wife, and as the reverend seems to put the blame for the sin of drinking at his feet he knows that Clara, as beautiful and clever and interesting as she is, she is forbidden.
As for every Emma V Leech book you are catapulted into the story, a lovely sojourn in a small coastal village in Scotland I had, enjoying so much the lively atmosphere and the many characters. Very recommended!

3.0 out of 5 stars Lukewarm
I am sorely disappointed. This is just not Emma’s work. There is no spark , no chemistry. I only managed to turn the pages because I have read all her books and didn’t want to leave it midway. But it’s way too dull and boring. Plus it’s badly edited. An entire chapter is missing and is added somewhere at the end.

4.0 out of 5 stars A pleasant read
A sweet (if at times a little expeced) read. I usually devour these books in one sitting but found I could leave this once in a while over the period of a few days. Nonetheless, a steamy, enjoyable HEA.
