So You Want A Baby?: A May/Dec MPreg Romance (Meadow Street Brothers Book 3) Kindle Edition

4.5 out of 5 stars 345 ratings

Single alpha dad, Wood Joke Connoisseur. What's not to love?
Problem is, Lance used to be Elliot's brother-in-law.

Elliot Rutherford has a hundred problems, and Lance is ninety-nine of them. Actually, that's not true. Elliot's biggest problem is his dark past, but when he agrees to babysit his niece, his brother's ex-husband becomes His Single Biggest Problem.

Mainly because Elliot has secretly nursed a years-long crush on Lance. Also because, at twenty-six, Lance is still much younger than Elliot is.

With Lance and his daughter, Elliot discovers joy that he hasn't let himself experience in years. With Belle, the darkness in Elliot's life fades away. And with Lance, Elliot gets flustered all the time.

But the closer they grow to each other, the closer Lance gets to uncovering Elliot's past. When he finds out, will their blossoming attraction be enough to make him stay?

So You Want A Baby? is an 83k word standalone non-shifter MPreg romance, with oodles of hurt/comfort, an adorable little girl, P-rex discussions, and an alpha who patiently puts his bondmate back together again. HEA guaranteed!

Hello! Thank you for wondering about me; I'm a funny, sausage-loving goofball with a surprisingly tolerant husband (his ghost, now!) When I'm not busy writing (which is very rare), I haunt grocery stores and stuff my freezer with my favorite food.

I've been scribbling since I was fourteen, and I believe that everyone needs a safe place. My dorky guys fall in deep, devoted love, the way Huz showed me a person can be loved, and every book is guaranteed to end in a HEA.

For all he's done to save and help others, Elliot Rutherford still sees himself as a murderer who deserves to suffer. Lance, his ex brother-in-law, is the dream he could never have. Until Lance decides to make every single moment of Elly's life full of all the pleasure and the happiness he's denied himself. Lance is one of the most loving and wickedly sensual men Wineheart has written. His love is the thing of dreams and in this story we get to experience it along with Elliot. I must admit, I'm as jealous as I am thrilled that Rutherford has finally found his HEA and the pieces of "Elly" the Facility tried to destroy.

I loved So You Want A Baby by Anna Wineheart. I was a little confused by how Elliot ends up babysitting for his brother's ex-husband, Lance. It seemed weird that Lance would ask his husband's estranged older brother to baby sit for him when he has only met the guy once five years ago at his wedding and hasn't heard from him since then. He doesn't know if Elliot is a good guy or even good with kids but he's going to trust him with his daughter. Just seemed odd. I also wasn't a fan of the name of the book. It just didn't seem to fit with what the author has shown us of Dr. Rutherford so far in other books. I do get that the title coincides with the the magazine article that Lance writes. However, I did love how Elliot and Lance interact together. They had awesome chemistry, and I loved all of the wood innuendos and dirty talk and how much it made Elliot blush. Overall a wonderful book by one of my favorite authors. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.

I am so happy that Rutherford got his story. After reading earlier books throughout the Meadowfall series, it was good to learn more about the "facility". Lance is perfect for Rutherford, and as always super steamy!

Elly was the sweetest thing and desperately needed to be loved. Lance stepped up and did that. I thought the angst was going to be the whole ex brother in law and brother thing, but it was not and I was happy.

Elly was basically kidnapped and made to do bad things. He also had really bad things happen to him as well. Overcoming this is the overarching arc and it worked well. There was very little food porn in this, as Elly starved himself as part of his punishment of himself for being rescued.

Will Hayden, Elly's brother and Lance's ex, be in the next series? Will that be when we find out where he disappeared to for months?

This book made me feel a lot of things *wink*. I love how all couples have their own inside dirty jokes. I'm so excited to read the bonus chapter and Phinny's book! Keep up the steamy scenes and heartfelt stories, Anna!

I loved this one! Poor Rutherford has had a terrible life and feels he doesn't deserve anything good as punishment. Lance sees what a special person Rutherford is and sets out to show him he is worthwhile and deserves happiness. I couldn't put this story down. Best HEA ever.

4.0 out of 5 stars Enjoying this series
Reviewed in Australia on October 27, 2020
I have been enjoying this series, and was looking forward to getting to know Rutherford better after meeting him briefly in early books. He was definitely a complex and broken man who needed intervention to pull him out of his funk and make him see that the horrible events in his past weren't his fault, and that he should never have been put in that situation in the first place. I also enjoyed getting to know Lance. He was sweet, attentive and an amazing father to Bella.

What was missing was the details relating to Hayden. Why did he and Lance split (despite mentions of there being arguments, we're not given details), and why Hayden appeared the way he did after disappearing on Lance for so long and immediately expected to take Belle for icecream without a hello or sorry for disappearing for so long. This book didn't flow quite as smoothly as the previous books have, and we find ourselves with the same self-sacrificing "he'll leave eventually so I'll leave first" plotline that we saw in the earlier books. I had really been hoping for something different.

The ending did wrap up nicely and the epilogue was sweet. I'm definitely interested in reading Phinny's story - and hopefully Nate's as well. I also look forward to reading this authors other works, as this is the first series I've read of hers, and I do like the writing style and character development.

At first I was not sure if I was going to like this book as I thought it was a little slow to begin with but once I read the first of few chapters I was glad I did not give up on it. It was a complete rollercoaster especially when talking about the facility and what happened to Elliott those parts where heart wrenching.

In this book Elliott has to face his own fears and mindset which he has created after his time in the Facility. He has to make peace with his brother and his past. After returning to Meadowfall he and Lance get their HEA, together with the childeren.

4.0 out of 5 stars Everyone deserves a happy ending!

The Meadow Street Brothers series continues with the story of Lance and Elly.

Elly aka Elliott Rutherford is one of the doctors from The Facility, who was forced to perform surgeries on unsuspecting Alphas and Omegas. Elly doesn't believe he deserves to find happiness with an Alpha of his own because of what he did.

His views change when he agrees to babysit his niece Belle, for his ex brother-in-law Lance. Lance is divorced from Elly's estranged brother Hayden. Elly develops feelings for Lance, but would never act on them as he feels unworthy.

What does Lance, an alpha, think of Elly, an omega, well, he really likes Elly and would like to get to know him better.

Theirs is a complicated relationship where Lance has to show Elly that he is deserving of love. But can Elly overcome his fears and let Lance in? He will work hard to prove he is worthy.

All the characters from other Meadowfall books have cameos, especially Jesse, one of the Meadowfall firefighters that has somewhat of a past with Elly due to The Facility.

A hard-won happy ending, with a lot of ups and downs.

Rutherford's story is heart wrenchingly sad but beautiful.  You'll appreciate the humour on his drive.
