- Reviewed in the United States on June 6, 2022Format: KindleVerified PurchaseI like that the author isn't afraid to try new and different takes on this genre. The mc is interesting and so far the system while complex is interesting. I love the orc character and hope for more non humans in the next book. Also I want to fly around in a giant eagle. Look forward to the next book.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 7, 2022Format: KindleVerified PurchaseStory is good, insofar as it's a kingdom building Isekai lead by a non warrior/non mage. However, we are constantly reminded that he is a scammer - but only by his own thoughts. It's not actually relevant to the story. There's no scamming involved.
Also, author badly misremembered the metric measurements.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 3, 2022Format: KindleVerified PurchaseThis book is a pleasant surprise. Although the story does not deviate much from the typical in the genre, it does so from the perspective of who the main character is, which differs from the classic noble hero or your typical anti-hero for that matter... also the world described by the author is presented in a certain way as a blank canvas (This said from a positive point of view and based on the author's own words) with great possibilities for development and growth, being able to present a lot of diversity in the future if the author so wishes.
In short, a novel that presents great future possibilities for the series and that is well worth the time of its reading, reading that on the other hand becomes super fast and fluid.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 13, 2022Format: KindleVerified PurchasePro: The self-serving protagonist is Machiavellian in the best sense, giving this a vibe somewhere between Realist Hero and Commisar Cain. Readers of Goblin Summoner will see similarities to Sarkuran. The supporting characters are decently fleshed out and banter keeps the conversations entertaining. The action sequences are good set pieces, appropriately emphasizing planning and teamwork over individual heroics. The final battle against the Dragon was a fitting climax and more cleverly executed than I expected. If anything, the MC is underpowered in combat, though not incompetent, though whether that's a plus or minus depends how you feel about OP MCs with cheat skills.
Con: I probably submitted an error report at least every other page for typos, missing text, wrong words, and commas in the wrong spot. It's distracting. Even minor plot errors, like the Warrior starting spell being first referred to as "Power Strike", then several times as "Mighty Strike", then finally as "Mighty Blow". The LitRPG side of things is also lighter than I'd prefer. Aside from granting the occasional spell at level up and more HP as overall level increases, there's no observable impact of increasing skill levels or any measured attributes. Even by light novel standards there's not much crunch here.
Conclusion: I read this on KU and consider the time well enough spent. I'll not drop $5 to add it to my library just yet, but I've followed the author. If a book 2 comes out I'll likely pick up both at that time. Hopefully the typos are fixed by then and I can upgrade this to 4 stars.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 7, 2022Format: KindleVerified PurchaseReally hard for me to stay invested in this story personally. Never felt invested in the system, the cast, or the world. It was never bad or unbelievable, just not quite for me.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 28, 2022Format: KindleVerified PurchaseI really liked this book. It was well written and most of the characters are likeable. The notable exception is that the MC is just a bad person. He does grow, but he's still slimy. It's still well worth the read.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 21, 2022Format: KindleVerified PurchaseI started reading this story because I like kingdom building books. This one was supposed to have a fun unique twist that it is being started by a con-man. It was just so good though. Very queen in the mud feel but utterly amazing and my only issue is that there isn't more
- Reviewed in the United States on February 20, 2022Format: KindleVerified PurchaseTo start, I finished this book, and was entertained. The world is interesting, the premise is good, the system is... barebones.
I didn't like the MC at all, and that really ruins it for me. He does the right things, and then justifies it into him being a prick as he co Tindall does the rightish things. I don't like him, and none of the other characters are really developed at all, so it's a monologs about a jerk, and that kills the book for me.

1.0 out of 5 stars Too expensive and poorly edited.
Format: KindleVerified PurchaseThis story is way too short for what it charges. Especially given that it really needs a(nother) pass from an editor and/or proofreader(s).
While the concept is interesting, the story itself really isn't worth the ticket to ride.
