- Reviewed in the United States on January 3, 2023I loved every page of this story. Some time has passed since I read it, and a lot of it remains with me. That's the sign of a well-written story. It has a lot of heart, a lot of mystery. The story is elevated in ways I didn't see coming, and I look forward to seeing where it goes next.
I recommend the Hg34 series to everyone. Get yourself a copy.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 18, 2023This is the second novel in a series and if you haven’t read the first one, you may be a little confused as I was when starting this one. The book seems to start where the first one ended, so I had no idea who the characters where and why society has crumbled and why there are so few people left. But once I got past that, the story flowed and I understood this band of survivors and what was going on. Then there are more difficulties and hopelessness. It certainly builds up tension all the way to the climax, and one must wait for the next addition to this series to find out what happens to our protagonists. Overall, I found the story enjoyable and need to read the first book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Part two done correctly.
Part two of this trilogy focuses more on character growth and less on action this time, and I think it's a bold move. The right move, actually. There is a steady, natural feel in the narrative. We hop between characters seamlessly. More importantly, there is no meandering here, and I really appreciated that a lot. With this much going on, many authors could easily get lost in their execution, miss the target, but like all of Bernardini's work that I've read, this is never the case.
A few more characters are introduced along the way which also keeps the pages turning.
We wonder who we can trust.
Really loving where this one is headed.
I'm a huge fan of how her stories are structured.
Great stuff.
I should stress, though... This book is not a standalone. You must read WE ALL FALL DOWN first.
