This story grabbed me from the beginning! The "Devil" and the cop fall in love in the midst of trials and many tribulations. I was on the edge of my seat pulling for them all the way through this story! I loved this story from begining to end!

Much like all the Boom factory nooks I loved this one. The story is told in first person only from the heroines perspective which I normally am not a huge fan of but it worked. I didn't feel like anything was missing.

Lucy goes to Briarwood to confront her mo. Who abandoned her 18 years prior. What she finds when she gets there changes the whole trajectory of her life. There was suspense and while I can normally figure things out early on, this one kept me guessing till the very end. Very well written!!!

There was so much going on in this book, the hero and heroine's story was almost a background. The boom starts with the heroines background, a lot is needed with the amount of stuff going on, then leads into her and her friends. There is more time spent with heroine and her Lt(who ends up with someone else) then there is with her and the actual hero. I wish she ended up with the Lt and ended the book. But no the book goes on with all this other stuff going on and barely shows the hero or heroine together except when they are intimate. The end of the book comes and you assume there will be another book because TONS of stuff is just left in the air. The epilogue comes and everything is wrapped up....you know the stuff that should have actually been wrapped up BEFORE the epilogue. There are tons of other stuff that bother me about this book, mostly the family stuff but you can figure that out for yourself.

When Linda puts pen to paper the magic flows. I enjoyed every aspect of the story she tells in this latest release. A heartfelt thanks for an entertaining few hours escape from reality.

This is my first book by Linda Oaks that I have read, but as an addition to the Happily Ever Alpha world, I couldn’t pass it up. We first meet Lucy in the prologue at 10 years old when her world is imploding right before her eyes. And it is heartbreaking as you feel the pain that Lucy is feeling in that moment. We pick up 18 years later in chapter 1, and Lucy is about to embark on an adventure that she isn’t quite sure she wants. She needs to find her truths, and along the way meets a man that very well may be the worst part of everything. When Lucy and “Devil” are together, there is so much chemistry and you feel that BOOM that is the pinnacle moment in all HEA World books, but without Devil’s POV you question it is so many way. My 4 star rating is because of that, I wanted Devil’s POV....I wanted MORE of what he is feeling, MORE of where his thoughts are throughout this push and pull/back and forth that he and Lucy are having. I really enjoyed this book, and honestly when we hit the epilogue I wasn’t sure where Linda Oaks was taking this, and I was not happy. But as I read, I loved the way in which she mapped it out. There are a few surprises in this book that I was definitely not expecting, but loved the way in which they played out. Overall this was a well thought out, well written book, but I feel like we are missing so much with it only being from Lucy’s POV

This is the first book that I’ve read by Linda Oaks and it most definitely will not be my last. What We leave Behind is the story of Lucille “Lucy” Fisher and how she meets and subsequently falls in love with Boone “Devil” Holt. After police officer Lucy almost dies getting shot on the job she dies to go find the mother that abandoned her and her father 18 years previously. When Lucy rolls into the town that her mother settled it she almost collides with Boone when he jumps his motorcycle from off the side of a mountain onto the road right in front of Lucy. Boone is the owner of a sketchy dive bar called The Devil’s Pit, that seems to have a lot of secrets. Shortly after Lucy arrives in town she receives a phone call from her boss to see if she can looks for a DEA agent that went missing after looking to the motorcycle gang that hangs out at The Devils Pit. Throughout her search for the missing agent things keep point back to Boone, who despite their rocky start she is slowly falling for. To further complicate matters after she finds her mother, who is dying of cancer, she also finds out that Bonne is her quasi step brother. Can matters get any more complicated? Can Boone and Lucy’s fledgling relationship survive when all signs point to him being a bad guy and possibly being responsible for the missing agents disappearance? Read What We Leave Behind to find out what happens to Lucy and Boone.

This is a new author to me, but I will certainly be looking out for her work in the future. Lucy is a police officer who is injured in the line of duty, and while she is recovering, she decides to put her past to rest and she travels to Blairwood. It does not take long for Lucy to comprehend that not all is as it seems in this town, and who can be trusted and who not, and it does not take long for her to be drawn into something that could put her in a very dangerous situation. This is a good story which is raw, gritty, and filled with suspense, danger, twists, secrets, twists, and justice. I look forward to reading more from this author and I recommend this story for all.

What We Leave Behind by Linda Oaks is the story of Boone 'Devil' Holt and Lucille 'Lucy' Fisher. This book is a part of the Happily Ever Alpha World series but is a standalone book. Lucy has a near death experience when she is shot doing her job. This leads her to want to hunt down her mother that left her and her father about 18 years ago. This leads her to Briarwood, Georgia where she hopes to find her mother. In addition to doing that she is to look for a missing agent in the area. Devil is the man who seems to run the town and owns a bar called The Devil's Pit. When a very crazy chance meeting leads them together the sparks fly but can these two seemly different people have a future? Loved their story and will be looking for more books by this author.
