An Unknown Caller Foretells an Act of Unspeakable Evil

Criminal Psychologist Bridget Bishop returns to her role as a profiler in the FBI’s Behavioral Analysis Unit, determined to help U.S. Deputy Marshal Vic Santino identify and capture the twisted serial killer who murdered his wife.

When the FBI opens a cold case investigation into the disturbing ritualistic killing that shocked the small town of Sparrow Springs eight years earlier, the unknown killer is drawn out of hiding just as a woman with a dark secret receives an ominous call.

But the whispered warning comes too late, and Bridget soon realizes that an evil predator whose homicidal rage had lain dormant for years is again walking among them, ready to kill anyone who gets in the way.

I loved this book because the Slayer was identified, Vic was finally able to know why and how Maribel was murdered, the abuse of the girls by Peretti was disclosed, and all the hanging threads were tied together in a great ending. I love her writings because eventually the bad guys get their karma , if not in one book, then in subsequent books. The books are well thought out. Love them! Now on to book 6!!

This was an intense, complex, and suspenseful story with many unexpected twists that will keep you guessing until the end. I understand when a story has a lot of different aspects that it's sometimes easy to overlook things. It seems like that's especially true when it comes to characters who have been killed off. I refuse to give spoilers, and because of this I won't give specific details. However, although I would have liked to known how much this person was involved, their character wouldn't have been considered a main character in the ongoing case. Overall, it was a great story that you'll enjoy.
I would definitely recommend this book, series, and outstanding author.

Bridget and a team were set up to work to solve a cold case involving the murder of Santiago's wife and two classmates who attended a Catholic school. A new murder made the case open again. Lots of action and excitement kept me guessing who the killer was.

This time it’s personal. Sorry I couldn’t help myself. Yet it’s completely true. This case is deeply personal for US Marshal Vic Santino and newly reminted Special Agent Bridget Bishop. Vic is haunted by his past and the murder of his wife he feels he can’t go forward without being able to find out who and why it happened. Bridget has promised to help and when some new information a task force is formed. A new murder and that little weasel of a podcaster make the emotional stake even higher. There are secrets hidden in the past and this time Vic and Bridget won’t stop until they bring them to light.
Wow! What a tangled web of lies and crazy that come together and cause so much harm. Seriously what is up with that nun?! I went to Catholic school and I cannot imagine a nun acting in that manner. I cannot wait for that little weasel podcaster to get what he deserves! He’s such a smug and smarmy jerk! All that said this is one doozy of a thriller emotionally and mentally. This one kept me guessing as I rode along with the usual crew as they went on the hunt again. I absolutely love this series!!
I received an advance review copy from BookSirens, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Outstanding read! People getting killed everyone trying to find out who is responsible. It sets up many possibilities until the serial killer sets up shop 8 years later. Things. Start to unravel but very slowly. Then a clue arrives to help. You will love this read.

A satisfying, entertaining, twisty addition to the Bridget Bishop FBI series. I followed the red herrings which I usually see through and was surprised along the way. Bridget is back with the FBI, having left private work, and is trying to help Vic, US Marshall, find out who killed his wife and child all those years ago. Vic cannot move forward with his life until then. I was disappointed in Vic. I tried to understand. I can understand the being emotionally invested and all he lost, but I wanted him to step up and fight for Bridget and him from the get go. Bridget did the fighting for them. We have Charlie and Decker and Hale and Gage and so many of the old crew back. Love it! Bridgets dad also makes a decision. For me the memory scenes detract. I know they are their to help us understand the thoughts and feelings of the characters, but I am not fan. I promise any book you read by Melinda Woodhall will have plenty of surprises, you can't go wrong. Thank you for the arc. I freely volunteer my thoughts and opinions. #whenevilcalls #bridgetbishopfbi #melindawoodhall #creativemagnolia #booksirens
