When Sinners Hate (House of Skin Book 2) Kindle Edition

4.6 out of 5 stars 48 ratings

It's easy to think you know hate.
Especially when you're set on revenge.
Men are all the same, and getting them to bend to my will has never been a challenge. I'd just break whichever Cortez brother I had to marry and let him feel my wrath, because this was my chance to finally prove myself to my father.

That was the plan. But I knew nothing of hate before I met him.
He was a monster hiding in plain sight, wearing fine, cut cloth and pouring champagne. And after that day, he broke me.
Abel Cortez. Menacing. Possessive. Cruel.
My enemy.
My husband.

Note: The House Of Skin Series deals with themes some may be uncomfortable with. These are bad men who make no apologies for their particular trade.

Alexia Ortega enters an arranged marriage with Abel Cortez. Abel is one character I disliked until the relationship develops a strength and bond with Alexia that is so powerful. They as a couple are a force to be reckoned with. This story has many dark elements and triggers but I couldn’t put it down. Abel exerts control and Alexia is determined to prove herself worthy of her father’s respect. She is determined to get even for the death of her brother. Over the course of time she is exposed to the dark nature of Cortez family. Abel starts to appreciate her abilities as time passes. The pace of this story is fast and I finished it in one sitting. I loved the development of this relationship and recommend it highly. Just be aware this story isn’t for the faint of heart.

The Cortez family needs to make an alignment with the Ortega family. Obviously the only way to do this is through marriage. Originally it was going to be Mariana to marry Nicolas but after a, say we call incident, that is no longer an option.
Next best thing is to have Nicolas' sister marry one of the Cortez men. The only one willing to step up to that is Abel.

All her life Alexia Ortega has been used to getting her own way. She have smarts but to her father she is nothing but a pawn to get what he wants. That will definitely be a downfall of his in the end.

Alexia is ready to meet her soon to be husband and by the looks of it, no one is really sure who it is going to be that is until Abel steps forward. There is obviously no love lost between the two which is going to make for an interesting marriage.

Sex between them is the easiest thing to do but trusting each other is an entirely different story.
Little by little they each chisel off a piece of the armor they have against each other.
At times its drastic (we have some faux kidnapping) and other times it's subtle (being a normal couple doing normal couple things like shopping or dinners). The passion they end up having for each other is splendid.

This book was a little harder to get in to than the others but overall, it was full of dark hotness that can only be brought to us by Charlotte and Rachel.

Easy good read. Like that it took a different turn and told things about the characters. It didn't just have endless sex through the chapters.

When Sinners Hate is the second book in A House of Skin by Co Authors Charlotte E. Hart and Rachel De Lune. These 2 women put out a great story together.

This is Abel Cortez and Alexia “Lexi” Ortega’s story. Abel is the oldest brother.

Abel was such a jerk in the beginning and hard to like let alone love. But, by the end of this book. My opinion has changed, and Abel was able to redeem himself to me.

Warning: This book is full of possible triggers.

Lexi is being used as a bargaining chip. Lexi’s father is a despicable human being. Abel was so mean to Lexi. She didn’t need someone else to treat her poorly. I loved Lexi’s backbone! This girl has spunk!

I love this book and the series! So much that I couldn’t put it down. shhh don't tell anyone but I also read this book while at work. Fortunately, I have my Kindle read to me with the text to speech feature and all I had to do was stick my earbuds in and turn on the kindle! 5 dark and disturbing STARS

I just finished When Sinners Hate by Hart De Lune and wow! I don't know how Rachel and Charlotte did it but they got me to like someone I really shouldn't. UGH! I wanted to dig my heels and and throw a tantrum if need be because he is so bad. So so so bad! No way could I ever like him. And then I DID HOW? I'm still not sure because Abel is A LOT to handle. If anyone was going to be able to it was Lexi. I struggled with the beginning of the book. There are some things that happen that made me want to stop reading. I decided to stick with it because I know that is what this book is all about. The dark side of these charcters makes me uncomfy but my lord is the story good even if the brothers are so freaking bad. I'm not going to say I swooned but darn it, I kinda did towards the end of the book. Lexi is amazing and I loved her for so many reasons. If you like dark cartel romance you need add the House Of Skin series to your TBR!

OMG this is amazing read. This is a very dark read that isn’t for a faint heart or have TW. This is a force of nature read and it is handed over with cruel intent. This is the story of Abel & Lexi’s and the business deal of an arranged marriage. This is a forced marriage and the truth will come out once the marriage has started. I just have no words to describe how good this book is. If you have read book 1 you definitely don’t want to miss book 2. This is a very intense dark mafia read that pulls you into this story head on tell the very ending.

Cortez marries Ortega…like adding fuel to an already blazing fire. But that’s the plan.
Alexia must marry one of the Cortez men and strengthen business. Abel Cortez has sacrificed years for this family and now is no different. What he says is the law, to hell with anyone who defies him or hurts those he loves-family comes first, business second.
A blistering paced book that drags you through the bowels of dark crime dealings, trafficking, and all the problems in between. Be prepared for a surprise spark with Abel and Lexi that even their family cannot understand.

Deep, dark, and seductive! This does not even start to describe this story. Lexi and Able's story are suspenseful. An arranged marriage that seemed doomed from the beginning. The foremost drug trafficking family merges with the foremost human trafficking family. What could go wrong!
Able has a unique way acquiring trust from the people around him. Lexi has not been able to trust anyone but herself. How ever these two people create an unbreakable bond.
This story hit high on my WOW meter! I loved it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Dark, delicious, twisted love!

Wow.... if you've ever wondered how an author (or in this case two) can make you fall for a man who is off the scale bad and makes no apology for it, you need to read this!

“I’m nowhere near a good man. Never have been and don't intend to be. But I am a good brother.”

There are not many characters darker, more intense, merciless, hard and ruthless than Abel Cortez. He deals in the skin trade which is wrong on so many levels. But....... and here's the thing ...... although i hated some of the things he did, somehow I found myself loving him more and more the further I got through the book, even though I knew I shouldn't.  Alexia (Lexi) Ortega was the perfect match for him. Oh it wasn't easy, these two were full of hate, anger, a need for revenge and both had damaged souls. However they both grew, particularly Lexi who had had to learn to channel her manipulative inner b1tch from an early age and their fiery, explosive chemistry lead to some spectacular steamy fireworks as well as some very brutal scenes. Abel needed her truth, but with Abel being immune to her usual defensive tactics could she let go of her own painful past to give it?

Abel had his own type of moral compass and his "redeeming" characteristics were slowly exposed, especially relating to family and truth. I loved seeing those features emerge but him still staying true to the dark core of who he was.

This is a dark, Cartel romance with several triggers so isn't for the faint hearted. These men are not heroes in the traditional sense, they are dangerous, lethal and do very bad things, but it grabbed me from the start and thrilled the darker taboo loving section of my heart.  It's so well written and told from both POVs.
I'm worried for the future of Reed and another character I won't mention so as not to spoil things, but I loved seeing the Cortez family dynamics and can't wait for who comes next because they are all so intriguingly different!

    5 dark delicious stars

I love these two author's and the story's they come up with. They are the queens of dark & delicious sexy plots.

This was not as dark as the first book but i absolutely loved Abel, the more i read i grew to love him more and more for what he went through in prison to keep his family safe. But he deals in the skin trade and he was ruthless, i did not want to like this guy at all and the way he treated his new wife Alexia (Lexi) was cruel, but the saying of "treat them cruel to be kind" was definitely applied hear.

This was my favourite book so far with how these two characters hated each other to start with as they come from different family's, the plan was to unite both these family's with a arranged marriage a plot devised by Abel's mother, there is definitely something going off with her but i can't put my finger on it yet!

This book has some triggers so it is not for the faint hearted and it was told from two POV'S which i love, i can't recommend this book enough, if you love a mafia type dark dangerous read this series is the one for you.

    5Star+ read!
Book 1, Dante and Wren's story was a shocking read, When Sinners Hate (Book 2) blows that out of the water!
It was edge of the seat reading for me. I had to keep putting the book down to catch a breath as I'd become so engrossed in the story!
Ms Hart and Ms de Lune have crafted the perfect bloodthirsty, appalling family... that you can't help but fall in love with.
Abel is awful. I hated the Cortez family initially. But when Alexi Orega is offered as part of a deal, he shows his cruelty, and anger and becomes, just...ahhhhh... it's all about family...
Loads of triggers in this series, so reader beware.
    Highly recommended read!

I’m amazed that this writing duo has made me fall in love with the bad guy again! In the beginning, I had a deep hatred for Abel Cortez. He has a heart, but many despicable, cruel layers surround it. He really met his match with Lexi; fiery, passionate but someone unlike the Cortez’s, she hasn’t had the support of a large family growing up. Their arranged marriage was always going to be volatile, but the angst and chemistry were beyond words! The Cortez family dynamics fuelled the dramatic, fast-paced storyline and I can’t wait to read more from this disturbed and dysfunctional family.
