Wild Born: A Fated Mates Monster Romance (Wolven Brotherhood Book 1) Kindle Edition

4.0 out of 5 stars 309 ratings

What made me think being invited to go camping with the four most popular girls in my class was anything other than a cruel joke?
Now, I'm alone in this small mountain town and the cherry on top of this
suck-day is when my Jeep ends up teetering on the edge of a cliff. Trying not to die is my focus when a giant with a bad attitude comes flying out of the forest, hell bent on making me his lunch.
That's when
he comes to my rescue.
He's huge. And scary.
(And a little bit hairy.)
He has
fangs. And claws.
Seems there are monsters in these here woods, and the next thing I know, I'm being taught the proper way to say
"thank you" to a Wolven male who just saved your life.
But, the Wolven have troubles of their own such as fighting off Ferals and Wizards and trying to keep peace in their world.
I shouldn't want him, but there's something about this dark-haired monster-man that has me staying put. Should I run or follow my heart and see if life as a Wolven's mate is the happily ever after I was looking for all along?

Author's Note: The Wolven Brotherhood is a series of interconnected standalones with Wolven men discovering their fated mates and fighting for the love and families they never thought they'd have. These guys are monsters on the surface, but deep down, they are marshmallows for their one-and-only.

Full content visible, double tap to read brief content.

Nikolai Andrew has been writing stories as far back as he can remember. His elementary school teachers used to have him stay after class to try to explain some of his more creative work but with a to-die-for smile and wisdom beyond his years, he always managed to charm his way out of trouble. Not much has changed, except he’s now found an outlet for his stories where he can show off a bit of his darkness, a dash of dominance and a sprig of hopeless romantic topped with a whole helping of hot.

When he’s not writing, he’s playing with his many aquariums, searching for rocks, enjoying cheap vodka and making waitresses blush. He’s got a penchant for vintage Playboy’s and Vargas girls and a weakness for giving out spankings and cookies. Drop him a line anytime. He loves to hear from readers. Especially their own ideas on what he should write next.

This is the first book I have read by Nikolai. Sestine is supposed to be going camping with some girls from school. Only they cancel last minute. Really it was all a set up. Now she is hours from school and alone in a place she doesn’t really know. Well, she isn’t going to go running back. She is going to go find her campsite and stay the night. Callan is wolvine. A different take on werewolves. They are biped and do a partial shift thing. They are part of a pact instead of pack. There area is having issues with feral. Men who have let the animal completely take over. Callan knows the moment he sees Sestine in the store that she is meant to be his. Now he just needs to get to know her and get her to see they are meant to be together. Callan finds Sestine just after she nearly dies and then she is being attacked by a feral. Callan isn’t going to lose her after just finding her. He saves her and gets her to come back to his home. Now he must get her to accept him as her mate and agree to never leave him. Plus, there is introducing her to the pact. Trouble is near. The sheriff has let Callan know about some weird things that have been happening. This is a great first book. I look forward to reading more books in this series. I have the second one waiting to be read. Great job Nikolai.

Wild Born is the first book in the Wolven Brotherhood series by Nikolai Andrew and it features two unlikely fated mates who were always meant to be together. If you're looking for a quick and dirty story with paranormal elements, then you will definitely get that here. The book begins with Callan falling completely obsessed and head over heels in lust with his fated heroine, Sestina. Unbeknownst to Sestina, her alluring and powerful scent drove him to the brink of madness. While their first meeting was unconventional, I liked that he scared her away because of his intensity at first but then she slowly warmed up to him after he saved her. They were certainly compatible with each other and had plenty of sexual chemistry. I certainly enjoyed the hot and steamy moments between the two.

In the end, Callan and Sestina's story was an enjoyable read and beginning to the Wolven Brotherhood series. In addition to the romance and sexy scenes, I was also intrigued by the world-building in this book because Callan was considered a "wolven" and was part of a "pact," much similar to that of a werewolf. The inhabitants of this world were surprisingly fine with paranormal beings and even lived with them. Holly and Vargr will be next and they were briefly introduced as secondary characters in this book. I wonder if Roark, the leader of Callan's pact, will get his own story even though he lost his mate long ago. If you like your heroes possessive, dirty, and knows exactly who he wants with a sweet and innocent heroine, you won't be disappointed with Callan and Sestina's story.

It was a cute, growly novella with just enough spice. It was a good story. Some things were a bit strange though. *** SPOILERS *** What was the point of her car going off the cliff? You would think that Callan would've saved her from that but he didn't. She saved herself. It just seemed unnecessary. The weird, mutated sorcerers was definitely interesting. They just seemed to come out of nowhere for no real reason. They just wanted her intestines for witchy spell stuff?? That's it?? Seemed like a bit much but.... ok.
So, it was ok but I won't continue with the series.

This was the perfect way to spend a couple hours! The characters were amazing! I loved the gruff males that only soften for their mates, and this male couldn’t have asked for a better lady to steal his heart. She was used to an isolated lifestyle and was willing to take the leap with him. I enjoyed the action and danger the author included in the story and it kept me wanting more. I can’t wait to see what happens in the next book.

MF, no cheating/sharing, low heat, HEA
3.5 stars. Fast paced story, some typos but not enough to affect the flow of the story. Wolfen are not shifters, they do not have two (or 3) forms. Their form is that of a large, hairy human with fur running down their back. They do knot, and only mate with their fated. Possessive, protective and OTT (purrrrfect alpha). They do not live in a "pack" but have a Pact (I am wondering if it means Wolfen who make a Pact to be together and help each other) that owns land and resources and has a leader. They can go Feral, where they are not part of a Pact and basically return to the wild. There are also Witches, good, and Warlocks, bad. Warlocks are weird frog-insect-like beings.

I absolutely love this story. It is a different take on a supernatural. Which was a pleasant take. Callan and Sestina are an awesome couple. I will say from page one until the end kept my interest. If I had more time I would have loved to read this in one sitting. I already grabbed book 2 and can't wait to read it. The writing and flow of this book is done well. I absolutely recommend this book.

Wow wee, this book was epic, and pure awesomeness. Enjoyed reading from this author for the first time and I know it won't be the last time for sure. Loved the story of the Wolvens and even the wizards and looking forward to reading about the rest of The Pack. Well deserved 5 stars.

This is book one of the Wolvens. The introduction is with the male Callan feeling something for the first time. He is scenting his fated mate. He runs through town to find this scent. He finds her in a store shopping for a camping trip with friends. Their journey begins there, however, there are all kinds of supernatural creatures trying to get Sestina, his mate. We are never fully told why or where they come from. The story is good but there are lots of unanswered questions about the attacks and other Wolvens. The author gives us the happy endings in two epilogues but skips anything about what this clan need to do about the attacks.
