The Seer's Wolf (Wild Magic Book 2) Kindle Edition

4.4 out of 5 stars 880 ratings

A wolf mage. That’s all Brody ever wanted to be. Too bad no alpha will keep him, not now.

When their pack’s boundary is breached, Gage braces for an attack. Instead, he finds an injured mage being hunted by a familiar enemy. And when that mage turns out to be a seer—a rare, valuable talent—Gage hopes his pack’s luck is finally turning around. But Brody is injured, his magic so damaged that Gage can’t see how he’ll ever become part of a pack.

Hurt, alone, and so, so lost, Brody is drawn to Gage and the safety of his pack. The alpha is his only hope of finding a way to heal his magic. As they grow closer, Brody wants to be more than just a burden to the alpha. But Gage has no need of a broken mage, and Brody fears that’s all he’ll ever be.

When the pack’s enemies move against them, Gage is left with the choice no alpha wants to face—protect his pack or save his mage.

The Seer’s Wolf is a paranormal romance featuring a struggling leader, a hurt but determined clairvoyant, and a pack whose luck might be taking a turn for the better. It’s the second book of the Wild Magic series, which should be read in order. It contains mature and somewhat dark themes but does not contain mpreg.

Claire Cullen is an author and aspiring baker. Since she was a toddler, she has loved making up stories. Getting them down on paper proved a challenge in the early years when her preferred medium was finger puppets. She moved on to pen and paper, and later to keyboards, and hasn't looked back since, except for occasional bouts of nostalgia.

Claire loves to write strong, Alpha males with protective streaks a mile wide and counterpoint them with love interests with the inner strength to survive the trials life has thrown at them.

Most of all, Claire loves a happy ever after (but she'll be content with a happy for now).

This is book two in series, and I'm looking forward to the next one. I've read other books by this author and they all have excellent writing, well thought out characters, and interesting plot lines. I highly recommend this series as well as others she has written. If you like magic and paranormal storylines, you'll love these books!

Another cute story! I love the magic system in this series! This particular book was hurt comfort and it was dome pretty well after the first quarter of the book. The two main characters were interesting and very cute together.

Didn’t think much of Gage as the Alpha in the first book. As I learned more about how he came to be the leader, how he shouldered the burden of keeping a struggling pack afloat, I admired his determination to keep his pack alive, even though barely. Happy to see Brody by his side fighting together for their pack. Love this series!

Still a lot of loose ends and some questions that didn’t get answers. Even more questions added. I wish more time was spent on the “mystery.” As one reviewer mentioned, more pages are spent describing sex scenes than are spent on the Big Bad and the overarching plot.

Gage was better in this book, but I still don’t like these alphas. I wish there was more romance. We got “I Love Yous,” but they were unbelievable since there was zero romance or deep feelings leading up to them.

Barrett is the only alpha I kind of like at this point and he’s on the periphery and the other wolves tend to be afraid of him - or at least afraid at what he can do. But for now he seems like the strong, silent type and that’s intriguing.

Still a lot of holes in the world building. For instance, I’m not even sure how they communicate with other packs. Do they have phones? It’s unclear. Maybe only the scrapyard has a phone and Barrett relays all the messages?

The dark themes continue with this installment. Decent character development and a slowly evolving storyline add layers of complications. This book ends with a comfortable pause and a promise for more conflict in the next installment.

The first book in this series pulled me in. I needed the second book so badly. I was not disappointed! This world is so vibrant and alive. The characters draw you in from the first pages. The story continues. The shadow mage is still a threat. There are druids, sorcerers, wolves, warring packs, and precious mages. Brody has been broken, his outer magic stripped, his visions unchecked. Running for his life, he reaches Gage, whose touch quiets the voices in his head. After a rough start, they realize they belong together. But danger is around many corners. In the end, there is a HFN. The outcome is not resolved. I can't wait for book three! You will love this series. Get. It. Now!
This book contains adult themes and language, mm sex and is intended for mature readers only.

3.0 out of 5 stars Meh
Reviewed in Brazil on June 13, 2021
I enjoyed the first book more, and maybe I had high expectations towards this one and that's the reason I'm so pissed at it. And disappointed. The author is creating too many questions and leaving the previous questions without answers for too long, and I feel this will blow up in her face in future books. Simple questions that are centered around Brody should have been answered in this book, because I don't think we will get to know the answers in a book that is not about him. For example, who was the woman crying in his visions? Who was that snarling wolf in his visions? Was it like a protector? We may never know. Another thing that bothers me in this series is that scenes about the main plot and the mysterious shadow man are much smaller than the sex scenes. I love a good sex scene, but this series seem to prioritize describing the sex instead of the main plot. This book was around 200 pages but I felt like I was reading a 500 pages book. I just feel exhausted. I'm only reading the next book to find out more about the shadow man and Barrett. I hope his book is next and that will be last one, cause I don't think it's smart to keep prolonging this story.

I am enjoying the world building and dynamics of this universe.

Gage and Brody have to work together to try and figure out who attacked Brody while protecting the Pack from the threat of the “Monster”.

Looking forward to read the next book in the series.

5.0 out of 5 stars Mysterious
Reviewed in India on May 15, 2022
This is the second book in this series and I'm enjoying it more than most because of the mystery and back story. I know this is a supposed to be M/M romance but that foes not dominate the story at all. The world building is good and the mystery about the monster is reason enough to make me keen to read the next in the series. Also I love the way the pack started at almost rock bottom and is very slowly unfurling like a rose, little by little. I can't wait to see what other mages exist and bring to the table. Can't wait to read Declan's story and Barrett's too.
