Wrapped Up in You: A Heartbreaker Bay Novel Kindle Edition
It’s love. Trust me.
After a lifetime on the move, Ivy Snow is an expert in all things temporary—schools, friends, and way too many Mr. Wrongs. Now that she owns a successful taco truck in San Francisco and an apartment to call home, Ivy’s reinvented life is on solid ground. And she’s guarded against anything that can rock it. Like the realities of a past she’s worked hard to cover up. And especially Kel O’Donnell. Too hot not to set off alarms, he screams temporary. If only his whispers weren’t so delightfully naughty and irresistible.
Kel, an Idaho sheriff and ranch owner, is on vacay, but Ivy’s a spicy reason to give his short-term plans a second thought. Best of all, she’s a tonic for his untrusting heart, burned once and still in repair. But when Ivy’s past intrudes on a perfect romance, Kel fears that everything she’s told him has been a perfect lie. Now, if only Ivy’s willing to share, Kel will fight for a true love story.

- Reviewed in the United States on July 19, 2020Hello hot storyline! The steam that rose up from the pages of Wrapped Up in You had me hypnotized, desperate to read more about Ivy and Kel, and the other characters within the Heartbreaker Bay series. This is my second foray into it, having read Playing For Keeps, another fantastic read. There were a few characters I was unfamiliar with, but it didn’t keep me from fully appreciating the story or understanding what was going on. It only made me want to read the other books I haven’t read yet.
It’s hard not to like Ivy. She’s tough and she is unapologetic, and given her background, it’s no wonder she’s like that. There is a detailed history that involves a messy childhood and not much in the way of having anyone she felt she could really rely on growing up, and into her adulthood. Just when she feels as though she’s finally getting her life on track, is when trouble presents itself again, and in some ways, it presents as the hot sheriff and rancher, Kel.
Kel is another character who I instantly appreciated. He has a lot from his past as well, enough that keeps him from really letting others in. Having dated a police officer many, many years ago, I always had a different impression on who they are as people- and not always in the best light - but Kel represented all that is good and decent in someone who wants to serve and protect. Where it gets interesting is when he wants to serve and protect Ivy, given her penchant to not let anyone help her, not ever. This created a beautiful balance of push and pull that only escalated as the pages went on.
If I only had one word to summarize the basis for Wrapped Up in You, it’s trust. Trust in potentially allowing love in, trust in the friends who want to be a support system, trust that in the end, it’s going to work out okay for both Ivy and Kel, not only as a potential couple, but separately. They both struggle with a lot of the same walls they’ve built up in order to protect themselves from the outside world, and waiting to see what happens with the walls is an enjoyable experience, a well-worthy five star read!
- Reviewed in the United States on September 24, 2019How embarrassing is it when you walk up to a stranger and ask them *Do I know you* and they look back at you with a blank and slightly horrified look, before scurrying away. Well, I’ve done that to myself numerous times. What makes it even worse is I later work out that he’s the guy who gets on the same train carriage as me, or I walked past him while doing the grocery shopping. Well, meeting Kel felt a little like that. I know that I know him, but for the life of me, I can’t remember the details of our meeting. At least, this time I know I’ve legitimately met him, because, Jill told me so. 😉
Wrapped Up in You was a little treat to me. Actually, it was a little treat from Jill Shalvis but I’d kept it sitting on my Kindle for a rainy day, knowing that one day I may need a pick-me-up. Well, that day has come…and gone…and Wrapped Up in You did the trick. There’s something about Ms Shalvis’ writing that always hits the spot for me. It’s that wonderful mix of humour, romance and sexy times that always leaves me completely satisfied.
As I mentioned above, I had previously met Kel when he popped up in the Animal Magnetism series. Of course, I loved him then… Well, I think I loved him??? I must have because I can’t remember ever disliking a Jill Shalvis hero/character/good guy. Well, he must have been a good guy or this would have been a redeeming story, wouldn't it??? He was all muscley, hot and good guy goodness so I’m guessing this leopard didn’t change his spots???
Oh My Lordy…I am making such a mess of this review…SORRY!!!
Anyways…I really liked Wrapped Up in You and found the characters to be lovable, sweet, funny and sexy. They’re also flawed which makes them very real. We don’t just get the hearts fluttering; you rock my world in this story. You get the *YOU BLOODY NUMBSKULL!!!* feelings too.
Ivy was a tough character with a determination that I really admired. With nothing but hard work and a fierce commitment to making something of herself, she is determined to succeed. Ivy's had to put up barriers to protect herself. Between unreliable family, and "friends" from her past, it was easier to keep to herself. New friendships that she's formed are starting to feel like a family and are testing those impenetrable barriers she put up. When her brother comes back into her life and messes with her happiness, it's Kel and her friends that have her back.
While I loved this story, I did find the love a little bit quick. It was weird though because two weeks felt like months with these two. When the declarations happened, I was sighing and getting choked up with emotions... and then a little squinty-eyed when I realised the timeframe. I get instant attractions and connections, but I find the big gestures like moving cities for the love of your life… AFTER TWO WEEKS… not so much.
I really love the Heartbreaker Bay series and Jill Shalvis can do no wrong when it comes to writing entertaining contemporary romance. This is a story about two people finding love when they were least expecting it. Both Ivy and Kel have dealt with some pretty heavy stuff in their pasts, but while they are wary of risking their hearts, neither can deny the feelings developing. Trust is the big hurdle for these two and while it takes a few run-ups to conquer, they do get there in the end. I guess they just had to trust and believe in love before their wish on the love fountain would work.
If you’re looking for a good series to sink into and you haven’t tried a Jill Shalvis yet…DO IT!! You won’t regret it.

- Reviewed in the United States on September 25, 2019Can a woman who has been unable to settle down in one spot for very long manage to settle down and find love?
Ivy Snow has never managed to stay in one place very long all her life. Constantly changing schools, cities, having to make new friends but never letting them get too close. Always trying to stay one step ahead.
Kel O’Donnell is a sheriff on a medically required leave back in San Francisco where he grew up before moving to Idaho. Kel isn’t just a sheriff but he is also a ranch owner. He is grounded and not one used to moving around.
Ivy has decided to try and settle down and has bought a food truck and is running the best taco truck in Cow Hollow. She is saving up to buy a condo even. But she is needing to stay ahead of her past as well which is proving to be tricky.
Kel is introduced to Ivy and her fantastic tacos by Caleb and the other denizens of Cow Hollow. And he falls promptly in love with her tacos. And slowly, Kev falls in love with Ivy too.
Ivy discovers she like Kev but is hesitant to allow herself to fall in love with Kev since well, he is a cop.
Can these two unlikely wonderful characters manage to get it together and allow each other to love the other and do it in the time that Kel has given himself to be in San Francisco? Well, it is a Jill Shalvis book so we know the answer is yes. But it is the chaotic bumpy ride that makes this book worth devoting a weekend to sit down and enjoy. The weather is still perfect in early fall to be able to sit outside in many places and enjoy the beauty of fall and devour this book.
I did receive a copy of this novel from the publisher prior to publication in exchange for a fair and unbiased review.

5.0 out of 5 stars Lovely story
Good looking cowboy & a sheriff what’s not to like ! I loved Ivy’s Taco Truck, Jill describing the food just made me so hungry , my stomach was rumbling ,I had to raid the biscuit tin , I liked the friendship between her friends & at the beginning I wanted Ivy to just let them into her life , so she could feel comfortable being part of the team , share things ,trust them to help her , everyone needs a friend , kel & Ivy I knew were meant for each other , both having had difficult childhoods with issues with it, Stopping them from moving on with their lives ,but having so much in common to understand one another , & realising you have to face your problems deal with them & in the end you find a way , Which I’m I’m so glad they did, lovely story

4.0 out of 5 stars It's time to meet the real Ivy.
Ivy has spent a lifetime running. Not only is she scared of intimacy and relationships, she doesn’t believe in true love, and keeps her past hidden from her friends. She meets Kel who captures her heart from the first moment she sees him. The chemistry between them is too intense to be denied. Although Kel does see the real Ivy, he must find a way to accept both their pasts before he can convince her to be his future. This was a heartfelt, enjoyable story, although I was slightly disappointed that Ivy did not get a chance to use her Kick-boxing skills.

4.0 out of 5 stars The story of a cowboy and a city girl
Two untrusting people put together wouldn’t work. That’s the logical conclusion. With all the events happening in their lives and the many hurdles, they still make it work until it goes wrong.
And then there are’s the right turn of events.
