space and stuff the complete saga Kindle Edition

4.0 out of 5 stars 13 ratings

A STORY OF REALITIES, SPACE AND STUFF Dave’s new job, working on the wall of Copernicus sets off a series of events that just keep escalating really, what starts as political discourse somehow ends up being a race through time, space, and reality itself. Join a group of weirdos and oddballs as they explore the very complex social and physical aspects of the ‘stuff’ that surrounds them. A multiverse is an odd place and very odd things happen inside of it, so much so you can lose sight of whatever it was you thought was not odd, to begin with.

Simon carr is, well he is me, hello, I write utter nonsense and you are a disgrace for reading it, the hell is wrong with you?

but since you are here we might as well revel in the soup of irrational absurdity together because it is_________somthing to do!

I could tell you where I come from and where I live but how the hell do I know you are not some kind of psychopath!?

I think any writer who has ever read Misery should just avoid that poison apple myself, all you need to know is I am English and support Blackburn Rovers (BLAST!)

That does not mean I live in Blackburn; ok, I live in Blackburn but it's a big place, you will never find me, you weirdo!

I like knitting, collecting empty beer cans, and slapping dead birds just to make sure, I hope for world peace and an end to climate change, gender representative jelly babies, and fat people to get skinny really easily using just a DVD.

Hey another great fun sci fi romp. Was glad to read it, only wished it was longer.

**I've only read the first book so far.**
This was hilarious! I can just see the author pounding out words on his keyboard while laughing maniacally at how his readers would react to this book. It is laugh out loud funny. There is A LOT of cursing, so if that bothers you, do not read this. I love the character's voices and the narrator's voice is a treasure. My favorite 'bit' was the characters that are not important enough to have names. And the citadel! Ha!
While hilarious with a good storyline, the book has issues with layout and definitely needs a proofreader for wrongly used apostrophes and strangely formatted dialog blocks.

This book is... well, I'd honestly give it a 5 for actual intellectual content (the story was awesome), but i have to give it a 1 for the editing, run-on sentences, and the actual written content. So we're going to split the difference and give it 3*. I really wanted to read it quickly and laugh like i usually do with Carr's work, cuz he's funny as can be, and I love his sarcasm and wit. I truly wanted to give it 5* as well. I just couldn't read this very well or quickly. I gave up repeatedly just to go back to the fantastic story he weaved, only to give up again, because I could not understand the meaning of a lot of the things he was trying to say or explain, when no editing had been done to the copy I received. I hope it's since been updated. But without understanding some major story points and plot twists, and even some of the idioms, I really felt like I was the village idiot. Perhaps that was the point, cuz there's always one of those in his books! Haha... I still love the sarcasm, sardonic wit, and I'm looking forward to reading more, but this just wasn't it for me this time. However, I have already started on the first Sir Frank book (pretty sure that will be a series), and it's already hysterical! So there's that! If you're not bothered by run-on sentences or poor editing and can generally figure things out based on contextual clues (not always my thing--being neurodivergent has its downside), then as a Carr fan, this should fit right into your repertoire.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great compilation from a great author!

I received a free copy of this work on StoryOrigin (or was it BookSprout? I forget) and agreed to leave a honest review in exchange.

This is an immensely funny collection consisting of "Pie Eyed", "The Documented Doings of Rick Toenail, Space Sheriff and Princess Power" (Rick Toenail, where does this genius come up with his character names?), and the excellent "Space and Stuff" trilogy ("Space and Stuff", "Space and Stuff 2: Tugging in Time" and "Space and Stuff 3: Reality Wars"). It isn't a collection of unrelated books: they do link together.

Please do understand two things in reading this author's works. Firstly, he is dyslexic; and what a hero, to become an author in spite of that! Secondly, he has a very specific style which actually works very well with his subject matter. Oh, and thirdly: he's dyslexic, NOT stupid. In the "Space and Stuff" trilogy, he shows that he has a grasp of quantum science; his other books demonstrate evidence that he understands psychology (I'm thinking particularly of "Spice, Zombie, Apocalypse" here).

Oh, and if these books don't make you laugh at least once, I suggest you read them over again.
