Addiction (Virginia Skies Book 2) Kindle Edition
At war with my thoughts and feelings, I drank away my demons because I was too scared to voice them.
I was living a lie, yet the one I craved I didn’t know how to grasp.
Afraid, I ran in the direction of a freedom that never came.
Then I saw him, and he changed everything.
He changed me.

About the authors
K.L. Jessop lives in South West England just on the edge of Dartmoor where the moorland goes on for days. It's beautiful, breath-taking and occasionally rather wet.
K.L. probably swears way more than she should, her mum makes the best cupcakes in history, and she goes weak at the knees for a man with a five o'clock shadow.

- Reviewed in the United States on August 13, 2023After finishing “Addiction” by K.L. Jessop, I am 100% broken and 100% satisfied. I knew going into this book it would be a tough one and a heartbreaking story but the way it ends makes it all worth it! I fell in love with the MMCs IMMEDIATELY and I was their biggest cheerleader all the way to the end! “Addiction” deals with a lot of heavy hitters when it comes to story writing, including alcohol addiction, guilt/grief, PTSD, and intense internal battles, but the way Jessop presents these topics is respectable and pulls on your heartstrings. I was hooked from the first page and I couldn’t read this book fast enough. This was a real epic MM romance — one I will be thinking about for a while. It easily skirted into my heart and laid down roots but also, “Addiction” moved up on my top reads of May… maybe ever!
These two men stole my heart and ran away with it!
What I also loved is that this story takes place basically in my backyard — Virginia Beach, Virginia. For an author who lives out of the country, the references are spot on (even if the tone/verbiage definitely didn’t feel Virginian at times, but I forgave it!) I fell in love a bit more with this story because of the location and connected with it on another level! Call be biased but I don’t care 🤣

- Reviewed in the United States on May 28, 2023Ash has been in prison for the last year and now that he is out he is trying to start fresh, but is guilt and inner struggles are holding him hostage. He has so many regrets and thoughts that he has failed everyone he can't fully move forward. Wade was his father's physiotherapist who he can't stop thinking about once he sees him again, but needs to shut those feelings away. The more time Wade spends with Ash the more his feelings for him become stronger but he is scared to push him out of his comfort zone. Ash can't accept who he really is and Wade is struggling with who is family is. Even though these two have become best friends they still keep things locked up inside. This is an emotional, heartbreaking story of two men who have struggles from their pasts while one has moved on the best he can the other keeps things so locked up tight he might explode. It is a beautiful love story of two men who find their other halves and they bring out the best in each other. I enjoyed the angst and all the crazy emotions it intrigues you and pulls you into their story, you can't help but want these two sexy men to fall in love and give in to their chemistry. It's a slow burn but well worth the read. You will fall in love with Ash's family and how supportive they are to both Ash and Wade. The make up for how awful Wade's father is .
- Reviewed in the United States on May 28, 2023Asher isn't ready to go back home, but where else is he to go now that he's out and had to sell his house? He's been struggling for years, first with addiction, always with his demons, and now he has to stay sober, stay out of trouble, and make it through his life now that he's out. Meeting Wade at the start of his journey will give him a reason to stay sober, and just might help him fight all those demons.
Wade and Asher's story is quite simply, beautiful. It's painful reading as Asher struggles, but in Wade he finds his rock, his soulmate, the one he never knew he was waiting for, the one he didn't think he deserved. I hurt for both of them throughout, as Asher struggled and Wade's past came back to taunt him again, but by the end I was teary-eyed with joy as they got the happiness and love they had fought so hard for.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 29, 2023This is my first book by this author, it caught my attention being one of my favorite genres. And wow, I’m so glad I took a chance on it.
Emotions are all over the place. My heart was absolutely breaking Asher. And Wade, oh my, my heart is skipping beats. I didn’t read the first book in the series but I’m definitely going back to read it too.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 28, 2023This was a heart-wrenching but amazing read. On one hand, you have the utterly flawed Asher who is struggling to hold it together and maintain his tenuous hold on his sobriety when the reason he drinks is that he hasn’t come to terms with his secret/sexuality. On the other, you have Wade who is making strides to push Asher out of his comfortable bubble, but through it all the attraction between them simmers until it threatens to break the hold Asher barely has on himself… Sometimes you need to break before you can mend though. This one flawlessly shows a friend group and support system rallying around a couple to carry them over the ‘finish line’ in love, business, and health, and I couldn’t recommend it more.
