Murder in the Manor)

THISTLEWOOD MANOR: A DOLL’S DEBACLE is Book #7 in a charming 1920s cozy mystery series by Fiona Grace, #1 bestselling author of
Murder in the Manor, which has over 300 five star reviews!

For centuries, Thistlewood Manor has stood as home to the Montagu family, a beacon to British aristocracy in rural England. But it’s 1928, and in this new age of women’s rights, Eliza Montagu, 27, a free spirit, has turned her back on her family to live an artist’s life in London.

Yet after Eliza is summoned home, she decides to stay (for now) to help her father run the ailing family business. The presence of her childhood best friend, Oliver, also gives her a reason to stay, as she wonders if their unfulfilled romance might ever come to fruition.

It’s summertime, and amidst a backdrop of cricket matches, Eliza finds a once in a lifetime opportunity to expand her family’s legacy when a neighboring estate to Thistlewood Manor hits the market at a rock bottom price.

But the estate’s butler, the last impediment to the deal, ends up killed.

And all eyes fall to Eliza.

Can Eliza clear her name and find the real killer?

Who else who have wanted him dead?

A charming historical cozy mystery series that transports readers back in time, THISTLEWOOD MANOR is mystery at its finest: spellbinding, atmospheric and impossible to put down. A page-turner packed with shocking twists, turns and a mystery that’s hard to solve, it will leave you reading late into the night, all while you fall in love with its unforgettable heroine.

I much enjoy the Eliza Montagu mysteries as I find them to be highly
imaginative in their plots and skillful in their writing.

What I will never understand, although I suppose it really isn’t that important,
is the author’s need to use terms like a “Dolls Debacle,” a “Flapper’s Demise,”
    etc., in the subtitles.

This 20s style of subtitles add nothing to the plots, and should not be necessary
to draw readers to the works. In fact, I don’t recall a single “Doll’s Debacle” in this
volume nor a “Flapper’s Demise” in the earlier book, nor any of the other
20s descriptions paying any role in the earlier books.

And Miss Montagu herself, I don’t believe, would choose to associate herself
    with such stylistic excess.

But, as I said above, it really isn’t that important - the books on their own
are certainly worth purchasing and enjoying.

I fully admit to being a very big fan of Fiona Grace's series. However book 7 of the Eliza Montagu series is probably the last of this set I will be reading. I am aware this is genre fiction. I know authors write these series very quickly, but for the love of all that is holy please can we PLEASE have some minor variations in the plot. I a happy to stretch my credulity to believe that Eliza has the misfortune to discover dead bodies nearly every where she goes. I can deal with the will she/won't she love life and the continual squabbles with her jealous siblings. What I cannot accept is her ongoing stupidity in not being able to control herself and once again ending up in a pickle with the local constable until she somehow manages to elude him and solve the case. If she is smart enough to find the murderer and pull off business deals, I'm going to presume she is smart enough to have learned to control herself around constables after the first pickle.
