Great book

If you like economics, you will like this book. Has a little of everything-macro, micro, econometrics, game theory, etc. Very insightful to read about these topics in the context of ancient and modern peoples understanding of them and how this understanding, or lack thereof, effected the choices they made.

Masterpiece

This book explains mankind's struggle to replace superstition with science in order to understand risk. It's hard to imagine, but even the great civilization of the Greeks had little understanding of "the future" beyond their oracles and fortune-tellers. Bernstein does a remarkable job of bringing the story of risk up to the present day.

Repeating

Not done reading the book, but there are several places where a paragraph or few sentences are repeated back to back. Seriously annoying for a paid book. It should be flawless.
