    This book is pure genius. Enough Said.

    I'll have to break it down to equally cover everything.

    Plot flow: From page one, line one, I was done. To the last line of the last page. This book's plot is off the chain. It flows, it never lags or drags. Perfect structure! Multiple climaxes of action and personal conflicts!

    Chemistry: the chemistry of the two main characters is soul igniting! The sexual tension between Lucas and Izzy is enough to kill. I literally caught myself fanning myself and often. There was a dark romance to their story and a magnetic pull that you can feel in your bones. You WANT them together but the troubles are great and many. Let me warn you, this book is not for the faint of heart, because Brianna West doesn't just write vampires, she creates Vampires. She creates the creatures in her book so that it's a refreshing twist! Therefore this is no Twilight romance this is paranormal lust with a major helping of passionate Love and plot twists of a mastermind.

    Secondary Characters: this is my biggest pet peeve! I say it in all my reviews! Secondary characters carry a book. They must be surface written so they don't take from the protagonists but they must be profound enough that they don't all seem the same. They have to have depth. They have to have the ability to carry their own book. Well, I applaud West, because every one of her guardians are forever engraved on my heart! I LOVE and respect each soul in this book because she gave them so much life, so much spirit!
    PAVEL, Carl, Adan, Cecile, Bernie, and oh holy mother of God, Victor are not just characters they are real!
    I am totally ready to read every single one! I want t-shirts with all their names on each one! This is a friggin dream team! Laughter, crying, anger they do this to me! And serious naughty and stressful blushing.

    Action: Ha! This is not just full of action this is suspense, this is thrilling and this is hair spiking and goose bumping pleasure! The fight scenes are engaging and dark! You feel emotionally worn out from battle! Her demons literally scared me ! This is 100% action and it's on the first pages and peppered all the way through! Just hold your breath, don't even let it out.

    Izzy: I AM IN LOVE WITH IZZY! Her thoughts are the most entertaining read of life! So honest and so true! You can't read Izzy and not relate! She will forever be in my head and heart! I can't wait to read her again! Soft like a woman should be at times but badass when the going gets tough! I loved watching her grow and evolve throughout the book. She is one hell of a character!

    Lucas: Vampire Angel Heart Throb of epic proportions. This man was so well written! Intense, broody, cunning, intelligent, in charge, protective, impressive, calculative. This man won my heart ASAP! Then there is the "No, No Look"
    He was everything I would want in a Vampire and prepare to get the most erotic turn on of your life if he bites. Now this is my kind of Vampire! Watch out Anne Rice! West is on the freaking horizon!!!!!

    This was an overall five star, over the top, read that I seriously will reread! I own some of the other books and now I'm battling a new brand of book crack. Don't read this if you want a life. I spent every winking bit of free time on this thing and now I need more.

    And side note, when you meet Victor the following side effects may occur: dizziness, blushing, random giggles, curling toes, hyperventilating, wheezing, crying, quivering lady parts, heart palpitations and extreme longing for the ability to pull him from the book.

    FIVE STARS. FIVE HONEST OBSESSED STARS! Well done.

    This book has humor, the characters feel real, and the story line kept me on my toes. Pavel is my favorite character for his suggestive and witty banter and Lucas and Izzy are scorching. I caught this recommendation from some of my favorites peeps (not usually a romance reader), but I am so very glad I one-clicked!! There are a couple of typos/errors that need editing, but they didn't detract from the storyline. This was a strong debut novel, I want to see what is next for the Promiscus Guardians.     The main character came across as trying to be more witty than came naturally. From nicknames for people like "Russian" and "Spanish" it seems like not a ton of thought or effort went into that. There were some other terribly cringy quotes that made it difficult to keep reading. I think my favorite of those was "He was so gay, in fact, that sometimes I secretly wondered if he was actually a woman." I mean, what the hell does that even mean? I should have tried to count up the amount of times the main character didn't want to look like a "prostitute/hooker/hoochie" because it got to a point it seemed weirdly aggressive? I don't get why the author had to make the main character essentially slut-shame women the whole time to make Izzy seem like such a "pick me girl." Maybe the author just has something against women who wear short dresses and heavy makeup because it seemed to be a running theme. I found Izzy very unlikeable. The two stars came from the fact I felt bad because it seemed like the author tried to make something great but it just flopped. Wasn't the worst book I've ever read but it also isn't something I will ever remember after this review. I usually loooove when I realize a book is fairly long on kindle but with this I felt annoyed and ready to be done with it.

    I just couldn't relate with the characters. I did not like the story, the main characters were plain and izzy was just annoying, lucas was meh, the relationship even made mad because alk of the thinking goinh in her head. I skimmed the book so much and it was not enough, it kept going on and on with the nonsense. Really, not my cup of tea. Just no.

    Where should I start? If like me you are a fan of supernatural/ paranormal romances, then look no further than this book. There was dangerously, deviant doses of the paranormal, hunks, action, and steamy romance. Did I mention the hunks? Every box was checked!

    I loved Izzy as a character. She stayed true to self, and had a stubborn streak which I like in female protagonists. Lucas was a little bit perfect- half angel, half vampire, oldy worldy with dialogue that matched perfectly. There was a refreshing true sense of self in all the characters.

    The fast paced narrative fitted the genre perfectly, and kept the pages turning. The ‘will it happen’ story line between Izzy and Lucas was equally frustrating and engaging. Having the main love interest holding back was different, but made for a compelling read.

    I’m a lover of action and this book had that a plenty- warring arch-demons, angels, faeries, and many other creations kept the narrative lively and inventive. Teaming that with an easy to read writing style, and vivid descriptions, I am definitely looking forward to book two.

    It is easy for this genre of narrative to become cliched and out-dated, but Awakening was ‘unputdownable‘. I thoroughly enjoyed this book, hence the 5/5 rating.

    Whilst the novel diverges from many in the genre by blithely getting on with a big old mix mach of established lore, the breezy approach does not quite lift it out of the expected. Mainly because the heroine is somewhat superficial, almost making up for it with fun assessments of sexy male protagonists, but as the joke is limited to that register I personally were not able able to engage much with the character. The love /sex tension is also missing, all the ingredients are there but somehow wishy washy. To my taste the author is addressing a much younger audience than the characters, and their "work" related actions, would indicate... Or, an audience who just want to breeze through something very easy with a bit of action thrown in. Fair enough if that is your cup of tea, but even so I wouldn't give it 5 stars, there are a lot of grammar mistakes, and a good editor would have pushed for a more varied repertoire on the joke side. The gay stereotyping especially grated second time round.

Send Lucas this way, to this girl, along with an awesome line-up of great, fall-in love characters and one feisty Heroine who is a butt-kicking, stubborn and entertaining woman and you have yourself an AMAZING, laugh-out-loud, well written book come alive in front of you.

    I will admit, I don't generally read about angels, faeries, ware etc, and wasn't sure exactly what I was getting into, but I've heard good things about West's writing and this book was free, so I picked it up (and a copy for my mom, and my sister...) and I was completely consumed by this book. Page after page, you will learn more about these Guardians and their missions while West vividly transports you into a descriptively written supernatural world weaved into today's world. I sort of LOVE angels now and I just grabbed the second in this series, plus Pavel...although Victor by far has my piqued my interest. I can't wait to read more...looks like my summer TBR list just picked up an awesome series to binge read.
