About the author

A Londoner, via Arizona, originally from Iowa. Worldwide traveller.
Lisa moved to London to live, work and travel in 2007 and it has been home ever since. She resides in London with her family. Her son, Zack, is the inspiration for the book. Lisa and her husband hope Zack will grow up and feel like a citizen of both countries, since he is! They love travelling back to the US to see family and friends in Iowa, Minnesota, Illinois, Arizona, and Florida.
These pages are the result of her own trial and error over the years...and she is still learning! Her colleagues, friends, and family have teased and supported her through moments of saying the ‘wrong’ thing. After thinking she knew all things about the UK/US differences, having Zack has made her learn the language all over again. “Why is the doctor telling me to put a flannel on my newborn baby?!”

- Reviewed in the United States on December 8, 2022Format: PaperbackThis is a really nice quality activity book for children. My husband is from England, but moved over to USA when we married. We now have 3 young children that we will visit England with moving forward. I can’t wait to gift this to my oldest- she’s going to love all the little activities and learning the different words to “prepare” for her trip to England this summer! My husband and I couldn’t believe how many different words/phrases there were between each country that we’ve just come to learn amongst the years. So fun for anyone with an England/USA tie or to prep for a trip across the pond! Thanks for creating this!
- Reviewed in the United States on December 10, 2022Format: PaperbackThis book is nicely done and perfect way to help my son learn about where his Daddy is from. My husband is from the UK and we talk about the differences and similarities all the time. This book has a good amount of them in a nice kid friendly package. Would definitely recommend!
- Reviewed in the United States on December 15, 2022Format: PaperbackWhat a great educational gift! This workbook is fun for building vocabulary. We have relatives who live in London and enjoy discussing the similarities and differences in the language and culture.

- Reviewed in the United States on June 9, 2023Format: PaperbackChips Or Fries? Activity Book #1 is an educational, cute, creative, engaging, unique, and interactive book! This activity book teaches children about U.S. & UK differences. It includes mazes, puzzles, drawing challenges, matching, labeling, decorating, and other games! Yes, there is an answer key in the back for harder challenges. There are over 50 pages of fun activities. When something is spelled differently or a completely different word is used, there is a little flag underneath the word. This flag highlights the UK vs. U.S. spelling and clearly shows which country uses the word or spelling. This activity book is really neat!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great introduction to different terms used in each country.
Format: PaperbackVerified PurchaseWe recently moved to the UK from the US. Even though I have Lisa’s book my children are on the younger side and didn’t pay that much attention to the book. However, my son loves this activity book and comparing the 2 countries. I bought this after he had already started school (it was released right after he started), but I wish it’d been available sooner to help easy the transition a bit more.
