Full content visible, double tap to read brief content.

As an EMT hailing from swampy Florida, James moved farther and farther across the country with each new book released until he eventually ended up in Washington. A feat that took a little over 2 years (or 5 books). Hopefully he stays put, because he’s just about run out of road if he tries to move again.

There, among the trees and mountains, he splits his time between the winding mountain trails, an unhealthy amount of video games, and, of course, writing.

This particular book likely got hit by some of the personal issues that he ran into in 22. It can't quite decide what it wants to be, jumping around too much in style, and I'm not sure the way he designed town building really fits the story so far. Still giving it a 4 because the story is decent, but I hope the next book is more coherent.

Seems like this one took awhile to get here, which is probably due to to how fast some authors put out books these days. But man was it worth it! Hal gets some changes that really have interesting implications for the future, and the book shifts focus a bit to feeling a bit more cultivation than it was. An interesting choice for sure, and one that I’m curious to see how that plays out going forward. Loved the Komachi scenes as usual, and the additional universe lore was very interesting. Loved the fight scenes, and there’s an especially cool one a little later in the book. Great stuff all around!

Have read all books in this series and this book was just as great as the other books. Watching Hal and team change with their magical abilities and strengths as well as Hal growing as a Founder and then Breastbone evolves the story. Never hurts when you have good conflict and battles (magic and monsters) thrown in and especially with the two dragons who Hal is wants a bond/oath with.

Looking forward to next book as soon it is out.

So does that concluding fight break the rules of the primacy challenge? Wouldn’t that be ironic if Rinbast looses the challenge because of them?

How was Aldim broken? And what, exactly, does Rinbast believe he is doing that will fix it? It seems, from Dream, that his actions with the Kinslayers is actually making things worse for the Dimshard.

The problem with cliffhangers is that you can’t wait for the next book especially if the wait is long so I’ll help and bring on the next book. This one was good.

Seriously every single book is better than the last, and the first book was great so imagine how insane this one is.

If you haven't started reading this you're missing out, and now's a great time to get caught up to an amazing series that combines town building, crafting and progression so smoothly it all feels organic.

    The story is good but:
    1) MC is too much a Saint, I understand that the story is based on the contrast between the MC personality and that of his evil versions but nobody is so perfect.
    2) Too many events the story is a little too complicated.
    3) When a new volume is published to remember "the story so far" is difficult, please add a synopsis and\or a list of characters

Took me many weeks to finish this book, and that practically sums it up as I am a really fast reader.
Endless waxing poetic inner dialogues that could have been said with a handful of sentences, an utter ridiculous "argumental debate" with dragons (so you bring down debate to the most basic and uncivilized form of settling a quarrel?) and the most boring fight that filled dozens of pages until the end with a cliffhanger that you cannot even bother about as you are just glad that this slog is finally over.
Add into the mix the constant confusing explanations of metaphysical magic until you feel Lieutenant Jordy's blind eyes on you while he explains warp drive plasma coupling tricorder use mumbo jumbo.

Let's leave out half the "intelligent" re-using and deus-ex-machina magic and concentrate on the story instead of losing yourself in the machine room workings and this might become worthwhile reading again.
Right now, it's confusing and boring.

The book picked up the pace, introduced new systems and didn't repeat too much, it was a good read. I just dislike that it ended in a cliffhanger. That is fine for writing on royal road or similar websites, but every bool should have a proper beginning and end

An emotional rollercoaster worth the read, with a depth of detail that is very satisfying with a very climactic ending
