Scrape the Barrel (Bell Buckle Book 3) Kindle Edition
Hurt people know hurt people.
Years ago, Sage McKinley thought settling down in small town Bell Buckle was the only way to protect her daughter. It didn't hurt that she managed to get a job at the local cafe, doing what she loved most: baking. The perfect life she'd built for them was all that mattered—until everything was turned upside down.
All his life, Callan Bronson has upheld the expectation of being the caring brother in his large family of seven. If anyone needed a shoulder, he’d lend it. If they needed an ear, he’d listen. When a past ultimatum wrecked his confidence, he accepted that was all he’d ever be—the caretaker. But after his first, and hopefully last, visit to the local coffee shop ends with spilled coffee and broken glass, life proves to him that keeping people an arm's length away doesn’t always work.
The two are pulled together when Sage’s daughter finds an unlikely horseback riding mentor in Callan. Can the two of them accept they might be right for each other, or will their pasts lead to them parting ways—or worse?

Before I get to my love for Sage & Callan, I have to say this book felt like a love letter to mamas but also a good reminder that it’s okay to ask for help when you’re overwhelmed, it’s okay to lean in to your support system and not feel guilty about it. 🫶🏻 Accept the help and quit feeling like a burden on others. Single mom, Sage, has been running for years from her traumatic past. After settling in to Bell Buckle for a few years with her daughter, Avery, and things starting to look up with Callan.. her past seems to have found its way back to her.
I loved it all, especially the entire Bronson family. They are a tried and true country family, welcoming and protective. I can’t get enough of them. 🥺

Single mom, cowboy, dangerous past, touch her and die
Very very sweet romance. Cal is just an absolute sweetheart, I love him so much. That being said, idk about his heartbreak story, literally just sounds like a normal breakup? And just one breakup makes him go all recluse? I wish there was more to this.
I have a hard time liking FMCs but I really like Sage. She’s strong and doesn’t mope. I also liked how her anxiety is portrayed, it feels real.
I wish the spicy scenes were spicier, more detailed.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 19, 2024Sage McKinley is focused on doing everything she can to do the best for her baby girl, 6 year old Avery. She puts in long hours at the cafe to be able to save to open her own cafe one day. What she doesn’t expect is to bump into the grumpy cowboy at work and almost spilling coffee on him.
Callan Bronson would do anything for the ones he care about. Putting them before him. What he didn’t expect is the woman who almost poured coffee on him to be the woman/mother who his brother invited for him to teach horseback riding lessons too.
Two broken souls, who put all before them ending up finding the person to complete them. But will Callan still want to stick around when he finds out about the secrets Sage is hiding to protect Avery.. & what about when those secrets come out to haunt them in daylight..

SPICE : 🔥🔥
Someone please figure out how to make Bell Buckle real, and tell the Bronson family that I am now one of them. I love them. I love this series and I especially love Callan and Sage and how much they just naturally fit together! I also loved how Callan was with Avery, because a man that’s wrapped around a little girls finger is insanely attractive!

✨ A little bit of suspense
Callan and Sage are so good together, two people who really needed each other to make them see the best in themselves. I also love that Sage is a single mom and that her daughter Avery fits so seamlessly with the Bronson family and bonds with Callan so easily.
What I really loved was how Callan’s mental health struggles and Sage’s apprehension to trust were handled and how they opened up to each other so sweetly and slow.
And for a nice guy cowboy, that man had a filthy demanding mouth and I am absolutely here for it!
- Reviewed in the United States on July 21, 2024Sage and Callan’s story was so sweet and so pure! And you absolutely need to read and fall in love with them!
We have the sweetest humans, a cinnamon roll cowboy and a single mama who bakes like her life depends on it. From the beginning we get to experience two hearts who didn’t know they needed each other. It was so comforting reading how each of them cared for one another and oh boy is Callan a perfect book boyfriend!
I don’t often read single parent tropes but I’m so glad I did with this book! Seeing not only Sage be cared for by Callan we also get to witness Avery be cared too! I’m also a child of a single parent and have been cared for by man that stepped up to love and support myself and my mama so it truly pulled on my heart strings (insert tears here.)
NOT only do we get such a sweet love but we get spice from a dirty talking cowboy, some suspense with touch her and d!e vibes and truly this book was baked to perfection 😉

5.0 out of 5 stars This is one of my favourite reads of the year!!!!
Callan Bronson has been my favourite since the first book in the series and this book confirmed exactly why!!! He was so sweet, caring and the perfect cinnamon roll cowboy.
As a mom, this book really touched a special place in my heart. Sage was the best mom, always putting her daughter, Avery, before herself and sacrificing so much for her. This book really showed the struggles us moms have to face and how hard it can get.
This has to be Karleys best book so far. You can really see just how far she has come as a writer and how much her writing has improved.
There were countless sweet moments throughout this book and I feel like sweet, little Avery really brought something special to the book.
I loved the added suspense to this as it really kept you questioning things while really.
Overall, this was a really beautiful story that dearly touched my heart and will forever recommend this book and series to anyone.

Ok well where do I start with this one.
I’m still officially obsessed the this series, I honestly thought Beat Around the Bush would remain my favourite but Scrape the Barrel did not come to play. Wow.
I was so happy to read about a green flag MMC, because it had been a hot minute since I have.
If you are looking for single mum, some suspense, found family and spice, this one you need this one.
Callan is the definition of a gentleman, he suffers from anxiety due to past relationship trauma but that made him so beautifully relatable. He is the epitome of a beautiful soul, he loves his family, he is fiercely loyal and he truly cares for people. While he keeps his circle quite small, he is always the first one to offer assistance. Callan may well be my favourite of the Bronson brothers. I just found his character so refreshing, I didn’t become frustrated with him there was no third act break up (hallelujah) he remained consistently who he was throughout.
Sage, my oh my another sweet soul. I am not a mother, but I related to Sage on other levels. I very much understood her fear and anxiety, but also the happy and strong face she tries to present the world. Her character like Callan was also relatable, she had layers to her personality and also reasoning behind every move she made.
Until Callan walked in and proved that gentlemen do exist and she is worthy of one. This resulted in her just living and enjoying life, without over thinking every decision. Although her perfectionist side still shone through especially regarding Avery, Callan helped to reduce the anxiety associated with the perfectionism. Allowing Sage to breathe, and can we just appreciate how Callan never faulted with Avery he never treated her less than, she mattered to him just as much as Sage.
These two together, there was so much communication, understanding, trust, genuine love, concern for one another and spice to top it all off. I could not ask for more with these two.
We have to take a moment for the cinnamon roll icing scene ❤️🔥, excuse me I may never fully recover from this scene, just saying.
There was also a literal who did this to you moment 😱❤️🔥
Special shoutout to little miss Avery, she was so sweet to read about. Her dialogue was perfect for her age bracket, I adored her interactions with Callan and the whole Bronson crew.
Needless to say this one 5/5 ⭐️ in all honesty it’s an infinity book for me which means it surpassed 5/5⭐️ and has officially cemented its place as one of my all time favs ⭐️♾️
