About the author
Come along with me on an epic adventure. We will face dragons (we might even ride them), we will pilot airships. We will battle villains. We will join a pirate crew. We will wield magical swords against the forces of evil.
And we will be home in time for dinner.
But we will not go home unchanged.
Fantastical adventures ahead! But be warned:
Safe Return Doubtful!
***************************
During the days, I wrangle four small hobbits and help them along on their adventures.
Basically, I'm Gandalf.
But come evenings, when the hobbits are sleeping... I become my alter-ego: PLOT WIZARD (still a wizard, just a different kind)... and adventures await in the pages I scribble upon.
I'm a dreamer, a relentless opener of doors in the hope of someday finding passage to Narnia, and story girl.

- Reviewed in the United States on March 26, 2020Simply and beautifully told, this story is, with muted and lovely artwork. It reminded me of the power of picture books while leaving me with the full glow of Christmas. While I enjoyed the Kindle edition by myself, I'd recommend getting the hardback edition to read to or with someone else.

- Reviewed in the United States on November 21, 2019The child of an innkeeper in Bethlehem shows Mary and Joseph to the stable, bringing them some blankets and cleaning out the animals' trough to be used as the manger for the baby. In the middle of the night, the child hears a baby crying and sneaks out to the stable to visit the Christ-child. Angels are singing in the heavens, a bright star shines over the stable, and local shepherds come to worship. The child is proud to be a part of the miracle of Jesus' birth, and keeps the King close in their heart.
This book was so sweet and lovely that it actually made me cry while I was reading it! So adorable, it really touched my heart. Despite the simplicity of the story, it has deep spiritual undertones that are sure to speak to the reader in a profound way.
The story is told in poetry, and the phrases flow smoothly with good rhymes. The meter is consistent and the wording is expressive. The story line is simple and sweet, as the innkeeper's child helps Mary and Joseph to get settled in the stable and then visits the baby Messiah.
The illustrations are very soft and blurry with a watercolor style and muted colors. It almost looks impressionistic, and is very appropriate for the story. The characters faces are blurred in the illustrations, leaving room for the imagination, and giving the impression of years of history, since the people seem far away in time. I don't quite know how to describe the style, but I really like it!
Each page has a beautiful green and gold border that makes the text and artwork stand out.
I just loved this sweet Christmas story! And I appreciated the unique idea to retell the Christmas history from the perspective of the innkeeper's child. I don't think I've ever seen a Christmas story quite like this one! It really is a special book.

- Reviewed in the United States on October 1, 2019A fresh take on a fun Christmas poem, 'Twas an Evening in Bethlehem shares about that special evening when Jesus was born through the eyes of a child whose father works in the Inn that had no room for Joseph and the very pregnant Mary.
The illustrations were lovely and paired nicely with the text. The author did a wonderful job writing and keeping with the rhythm and rhyme of the traditional poem, I especially thought it clever when it came to naming the shepherds who came to visit. I read it out loud to my kids and they loved it. Definitely a treasured story to add to our collection.
