Bitter Vows: A Twisted Arranged Marriage Romance (Crimson Falls Duet Book 1) Kindle Edition
She is mine. And I never lose my possessions.
However, my Little Red is not what I was expecting—sweet and submissive.
She's fire to my ice, and together, we will detonate.
My heart has been locked away for so long. I don't feel. I can't. And she is certainly far too innocent for me to have. But one taste, one touch, and one soft whimper is all it takes for the rabid wolf inside me to bare its teeth.
But fairy tales don't always have happy endings.
Please note: This is book one of two, and ends in a cliffhanger. The second book will release shortly after the first.

A New and Improved Adult Red Riding Hood!!
Bitter Vows is an absolute page-turner! If you want a steamy dark romance with lots of suspense, some mystery, an alpha male dominant and a young woman seeking her independence and true love but unknownst to her, she has been signed over into an arranged marriage; you need to read Bitter Vows.
Scarlett and Lycan are now my two favourite book characters for 2021! The twists and turns in this story will have you turning the pages right to the end. There is a cliffhanger but this only makes getting book 2 even more exciting!
Reasons I enjoyed this book:
Action-packed, Entertaining, Haunting, Original, Page-turner, Steamy, Twisted, Unpredictable, Wonderful characters
- Reviewed in the United States on May 2, 2021Im not a fan of authors trying to recreate fantasy stories like Little Red Riding Hood or Cinderella etc, they rarely work out and when they are an erotic or dark romance, its almost bordering on inappropriate use of children's stories.
I hate Lycans name, its too comical and detracts from the story, would be better to have given him a surname of Wolf.
Alot didn't add up in this book, but the main thing I had issue with was Lycans team of guys who are looking for his brothers are highly skilled, have endless money, and yet they cant seem to find his brother who is living next door to him doing the garden. Whats worse when he turns up at the wedding with a gun, Lycan tells his men to put their guns down, but even after Scarlett runs off, Lycan is shot, yet the brother still gets away. Common sense would tell you that if your boss had been shot, and the bride was now safe, you dont let the brother walk away when you have strict instructions to kill him..... Doesnt make sense.
Ive read a number of books by authors where its a mafia/ wealthy man involved, yet the behaviour and way things get done, don't add up to the scenario the author has created. They have endless money and when they want something they have the ability to do it / get what they want. Not finding a person who was near by not once, but multiple times with endless resources at your fingertips wouldn't happen. Its a trap authors fall into, and need to be careful to try and keep things realistic, use other methods to cause failure, don't just leave it at the fact they fail and there are no consequences.
As for Scarlett, she is young, and I get why other peoples reviews give her a hard time, but if you really think about her age and her upbringing, I think the author actually portrayed her as most girls in that situation would behave. So while I didnt like her initially, I understood her. One thing I did have an issue with was how quickly she flipped and wanted him and then fell in love with him. One minute being strong upset about what her father has done, nek minit shes in love and wanting to be married. Lycan's flip on never being able to love her also didnt sit right. Whip Lash much.
Im looking forward to the next book and hoping things will improve somewhat. Darius is interesting, would like to read a book on his story.
I think some fans of this author will be a bit disappointed in the story, I think if you go in with low expectations then you might just enjoy it, its a bit cheesy in relation to the Red Riding Hood play off, and I think Scarlett is a little too young , but otherwise story isnt too bad.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 10, 2021This book was mind blowing with the loose retell of the big bad wolf. Lucan is the kind of alpha I always swoon for and he has arranged his marriage to. Scarlett. I think the characters were well written and I loved trying to figure out how all the pieces of the puzzle of this book are going to lay out. This book kept my attention the entire time while I devoured it and I am beyond ready for boom two. .

I originally heard from this book from an anthology and I actually enjoyed the preview for this book and I was so happy to get an ARC for it.
I really liked the plot of this book but I think there were some things that could've been added to make it more interesting. As excited I was for this book, it wasn't a complete disappointment because I was able to enjoy the dialogue between Scarlett and Lycan because it was interesting to see what revelations would come out from either one's mouth. Since this is the first book, I think that this was mostly meant to build up the world and introduce these characters, and how they act with each other. I just think that there wasn't enough chemistry shown between Scarlett and Lycan because there were many times that I just felt like both of them were just bland and didn't have any depth to them. For example, I think it would've been nice to see Scarlett have more than one or two interactions with the side characters and even with Lycan, they barely even talked so I don't know how they were able to fall in love. This isn't an insta love but it's also not enough growth between them to even see how they love each other. I would've liked to seen acts of love that Lycan showed to Scarlett so that we can really see how these two are perfect for each other. The smut was nice but that's really the only thing that they had going for each other.
This is definitely plot-driven because none of the characters changed or really grown through the story. Even Scarlett was pretty one-dimensional and there was nothing that I could relate to while I was reading. As for Lycan, I didn't really feel anything for him because there was simply nothing given about him that would make us feel bad for him.
Overall, this is a decent book and has a lot of potential. There are things that I would've liked that it had but it's simply a light read. I'm still not sure if I'll end up reading the second book because the ending itself was obvious for me and I don't have a lot of emotions towards these characters. However, this could be completely different for you and you might end up liking it so please remember that these are just my opinions!

- Reviewed in the United States on June 18, 2021This is both a bit of a play on a fairy tale and a dive into the criminal world that most will never encounter. There is brutal undercurrent that rides this story. Tastes of the sordid kind as well as milder forms run rampant here. It's an interesting read with a milder dive into the darker side with a major cliffie.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 11, 2021At first I didn't like what was going on. I hated to keep reading, but I couldn't stop myself. Then I was in love and the ending killed me. Need the next book!

5.0 out of 5 stars Who's Afraid Of The Big Bad Wolf
4.5 stars
Dani René brings us Lycan and Scarlett in a re-telling loosely based on Little Red Riding Hood. The story is cloaked in mystery and angst. The couple reminds me of the old Dark Romance books. The Arranged Marriage aspect brought me way back when LOL. I'm usually hyped up for the girls in books, but Scarlett didn't really connect me with as much as Lycan and all his shenanigans did. All in all, this was an entertaining story of darkness, and our main characters were dripping in steam. That cliffy was baaaaad. WE NEED TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENS NEXT

3.0 out of 5 stars Wasn’t for me
The book started off really well for me but it all started fall apart. I found the characters very frustrating and annoying and a lot of things in the storyline didn’t sit well with me. I did finished the book but I will not be continuing with the series.
