Blake Paperback – April 13, 2022
Purchase options and add-ons
Blake touches on some of the same themes as Aurelia, such as the obligation of womanhood, and taking up space, but it speaks from a more definite place. Angel Rosen has faced mental illness and suicidality from an early age, and uses poetry to externalize the complexities of that experience. Blake articulates the reality of depression but also pauses to consider the joys of unconventional friendship and found family.
This collection seeks to showcase Angel's experiences as a neurodivergent person with mental illness who has spent nearly three decades just trying to feel understood.
These poems came from a place of necessity: the desire to be seen, the need to be believed, and the hope that we can all be held through our darkest times.

---Round One, from "Blake"
Whoa.
That's all I could think when I was reading this book. This poetry is astonishing. The metaphors. Oh, the metaphors. They are incredible. They hop from one to the next in this fleeting yet scarring way that leaves you thinking, "Wait . . .what did I just read?", but in a good way. In a really good way. Blake is a quick read, but you don't want it to be. You want to stop and savor each deliciously dark line. It is moving, it is relatable, it takes turns you don't see coming. Incredibly well done. I adored every word.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 20, 2022Another incredible collection of poetry from Angel Rosen.
If you don't have this, buy it.
And if you don't have Aurelia (her first collection), buy that too.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 20, 2022I have purchase this book twice, once for myself, and many tears and laughs later, for my daughter. Angels poetry pushes right through you.

- Reviewed in the United States on October 6, 2022These poems are beautifully written. They really make you think and get inside your head with how you can relate. Such beautiful language is used and very thought provoking. I don’t usually read a full poetry book, but I read this in one sitting. Even if you don’t feel these emotions, these poems open you up to provoke those feelings. And towards the end with the Houdini Shadow, “He trusts me. Together we are safe.” Takes everything you felt that maybe weren’t the happiest emotions, and makes you feel and know you are not alone.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 3, 2022I will admit, I’ve never been a big poetry person, but this book really spoke to me and I can honestly say that I enjoyed it. Would recommend.

- Reviewed in the United States on August 8, 2023I haven’t read poetry in a long time and I’m so glad I read this one. It was written so well and each poem told a story. Thank you so much for the arc! This one went even deeper than the first!
