Henri defines everything Bridgette doesn't trust she deserves: wildly sexy, old money, his own man, and crazy about her.

She can't wrap her mind around why he wants more than a weekend fling while he's trying to figure out how to get to her to stay in New Orleans with him - forever.

Henri won't give up on the only woman he's ever loved and Bridgette finally realizes he's the man who colors her life with everlasting happiness.

Hooked just a few pages in. Wonderful imagery. Beautiful love story.

Hooked just a few pages in. Wonderful imagery. Beautiful love story.
I devoured this book in one night as soon as the pre-order purchase went live. I am a fan of Kitty Bardots real life connection in her books, its so easy to put yourself in the world and lives she creates. I connected so much with the character Bridgette, and I fell completely in love with Henri and his slow dripping southern draw. I was completely hooked just a few pages in at “you have to be careful when dealing with papa legba cher”... 10/10 would recommend this book, I was sad when I flipped the last page. This Author is a rising star, and I am excited to read everything that will be coming next!

This book is very well written. I'd specifically like to point out the description of the setting. New Orleans is a great town and Bardot captures it amazingly.

The media could not be loaded.
Couldn’t put this down. Didn’t read the first installment of the series. But i will be going back to read it. This book is a great standalone and had my juices flowing. Can’t wait for the next one.

Read it twice in one sitting. The characters are very well written and flushed out, so much so you're going to feel like you know them.

Kitty Bardot knows how to tell a story. In fact, my breath is still labored from reading her tale. Set in New Orleans, you can feel the sweltering heat emanate from page one. The chemistry from the two leads is so electric—at first teasing, then voracious—it is reminiscent of the delicious 1981 film Body Heat.

And can the lady write. Here’s a taste:

“She bites at his bottom lip and leads him by this open shirt away from the door, stepping back heading them toward the bed. As he bumps it, she looks up with a start. A wicked smile spreads across her face as she eases up one knee then the other.”

You might have noted the novel is written in present tense, which accommodates an immediate, visceral sensation as the reader flies through the chapters. Everything is heightened: the burlesque routines, the scent and sounds of Bourbon Street, and the unbridled sex that still has my blood moving.

But hold on. Not everything is magic. Although the male lead is captivating—with his southern charm and devilish good looks—he holds a secret that could end an affair that is too hot to handle but, then again, too tempting to release.

Bridgette is a burlesque dancer from Chicago invited to New Orleans to dance with other burlesque dancers she meet in a Facebook group. Along for the ride is Amanda, affectionately known as Bunny. After dropping their luggage at the hotel, they decide to wander the shops before heading to meet their new friend, Lillian. Meanwhile, Henri had finally convinced his songwriter/singer artist friend, Joe, to record a demo. More than excited with the results, Henri drops the demo off.
From the beginning, the reader has the impression that Henri is very shallow. He is a known playboy picking up women and discarding them just as quick. He comes from a different world than Bridgette tossing money around without a thought to how others see him. Even so, Bridgette sees there is more depth to Henri than a pretty face so she throws caution to the wind and takes a chance to get to know him better.

The more Bridgette and Henri are together, readers can see Henri's mask slipping. It is difficult for Henri because he has never known a woman such as Bridgette. The more time they spend together and the more comfortable they are, secrets are bound to unravel in the most spectacular fashion. With Bardot at the wheel, her descriptions heighten the senses while the characters leap off the page wanting to tell their full, complete story.

I received this book as an advance review copy free. I have read and reviewed this book voluntarily.

Ms Bardot takes you behind the scenes of a burlesque troupe and makes you feel a part of the company. Her characters seem to invite you to get to know and love them. It is a great read!
