The Bookstore at Holiday Bay: Once Upon a Mystery Kindle Edition
My name is Lou Prescott. I was born in South Carolina but spent most of my life in Northern Minnesota. Since the death of my husband, I've found myself at loose ends, so when my niece offered to sell me the quaint seaside bookstore she owned in Holiday Bay, Maine, I jumped at the opportunity to restart my life somewhere new.
My journey to date has been a bit rocky but my rescue cat Toby and I are making it work. The first thing we did after settling in was make a few additions to the bookstore including a coffee bar and pastry counter, as well as a cat lounge with a rescue and adoption feature. This allows Toby and I to match his buddies from the street with their perfect human.
So far, my favorite part of my new endeavor is a reader group who meets on Tuesday nights. The murder mystery book club started off as a typical read and discuss type forum but quickly segued into an actual mystery club when a member of our group was found dead. When it became obvious that the death of our friend and neighbor wouldn't be easily solved, the bibliophiles who'd gathered decided to exchange their reading hats for their sleuthing hats and pitch in.

- Reviewed in the United States on July 9, 2023This book reminds me of all the best parts as well as some of it's tougher parts. Great characters, interesting story but still an enjoyable light read. Please write many more!
- Reviewed in the United States on July 7, 2023I read the book in a couple of days and as I read, I wanted to know how the story turned out. I plan to read more books by the author. The story was something that could have happened, and the ending was not super obvious but you could look back and see how the clues added up. So it was an interesting mystery.
There is a little something missing that keeps me from giving the book five stars, but I don't know what it is that would have made the story even better.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 24, 2023I love the start of this series!!!!
Lou Prescott is a great new addition to the town!!!!!!
When bought the bookstore from Vanessa, her niece she had been going through grief of losing her husband Gus.
It was a blessing to have a change of scenery and a new start.
Lou had found slot of new friends and a special edition, Toby her kitten.
Velma is now co-owner of the "Firehouse Books".
They are gathering for their Tuesday night book club and one of their members is not showing up. What could have happened to her? The next day they found out! Who? Why?
Now Lou and Velma have to find out the answers and Colt is out if town and the new police officer Alex Weston is there to do her job.
Now I really want you to get this book to find the answers!!!!
I love the way the three series connect " The Inn at Holiday Bay, and the Bistro at Holiday Bay"
I feel like I am living in the town with all this wonderful people!!!!
You won't be disappointed!!!!

- Reviewed in the United States on July 3, 2023I like that the characters in this book are familiar to me because I met them in other Holiday Bay series books. I just got to know them better in the bookstore saga. I look forward to seeing how the characters grow and it will be interesting to see the changes in their lives that are sure to come. Kathi Daley is an awesome writer and I have loved all her books and look forward to reading many more. 💗
- Reviewed in the United States on June 28, 2023The first book in a spin off series set in Holiday Bay. Fun new characters and familiar ones from two other series. Primarily set in the bookstore and set around the weekly book club, it will definitely be more about the local gossip than the book chosen for the week! Can't wait to read more.

5.0 out of 5 stars An excellent start to a new series.
I enjoyed this new spin off series from the Inn at Holiday Bay . There are several characters whom we have already met in the previous series. The characters, the plot and the setting are as well thought out as usual from Kathi Daley.

5.0 out of 5 stars New cozy mystery series, a great read...
A spin off from the popular cozy mystery series, Inn at Holiday Bay by the same author, this series centres around the bookshop in the town, which is under new ownership.
It features lots of the well known characters from the 2 other cozy mystery series set in Holiday Bay, The Inn at Holiday Bay and The Bistro at Holiday Bay, as well as new characters.
I loved this book and can see I will be downloading new books as they are released!
If you like cozy mystery with a wider storyline, then this is the series, and author for you.
