Pursued relentlessly by his vengeful U.S. Marshal brother-in-law, Ranger finds temporary refuge in the scorching Arizona town of Namrena.

But when he intervenes to protect a desperate mother and her young son from local thugs, Ranger ignites a war with the town's ruthless crime syndicate.

Outgunned and outmanned, Ranger is forced to unleash the lethal skills he learned in the treacherous mountains of Afghanistan.

As the body count rises in the desert heat, Ranger's fight for redemption becomes a blood-soaked battle for survival in a town where no-one can be trusted.

Bullet Proof (Ranger Thrillers Book 1).....what a ride! Like for real! From chapter one to the final chapter bullets flew left, right and every way. Major storyline, great story pace, and action on action on action! Oh and thrills....let's not forget the thrills. Ranger and Donnie are unforgettable characters who are relatable and endearing to the reader, in my humble opinion.

Author Joshua Harkin, thank you for a great read!

When this first started out I thought it was going to be all like the old TV show, The Fugitive. It still has shades of it in the beginning and the end. Our H is still hunting the murderer(s) and trying to clear his name, so not all resolved.

I found this story to be on the dark side. One of the characters is good, then turns very bad and reverts to good. I didn't care what happened to him. The author did a good job, in me not trusting him during the rest of the story.

Very violent like you would expect from this type of story. Along with crude words and the Lord's name used in vain.

Especially near the end I felt I was missing part of the storyline about the people who worked for the main villain. Still a story I would recommend, and I'll probably will read the next in the series.

I realize in this type of story not only bad villains get killed but also good ones. I'm not a fan of that to be honest.

Plenty of suspense, violence, twists, characters you're not sure of and pacing I found good. I can't improve on the blurb, just giving you some tidbits to decide whether to purchase. (ljb)

Joshua Harkin introduces us to Frank Ranger. Ranger is an interesting character. He is former military with many tours in Afghanistan. He was convicted of murdering his wife. Ranger is framed and escapes before going to prison. This takes Ranger on a deadly journey to find who killed is wife. In his pursuit for the killers of his wife, Ranger is confronted with other battles where he decides to fight. This is a job well done of Book 1 featuring Frank Ranger and I am curious and excited to see how Joshua Harkin evolves this character. Looking forward to Book 2.

I don’t want to regurgitate the blurb on this one, you need to go in blind and see where Frank Ranger takes you. You will be pleasantly surprised. What really stood out to me was how grounded the character of Frank Ranger feels. He’s not a superhero; he’s flawed, haunted, and deeply human. His determination to protect his daughter and clear his name lends real emotional weight to all the firefights and narrow escapes. You find yourself rooting for him not just because he’s skilled, but because he’s fighting for something that matters—justice, redemption, and family.
Harkin’s writing is sharp and cinematic, with just enough detail to immerse you in the action without slowing things down. It’s clear he understands the rhythms of a good thriller—when to punch the gas and when to let the characters breathe. The antagonists are more than just faceless villains, too; they’re driven, complex, and often just as compelling as the hero.
There’s also something refreshing about how Bullet Proof doesn’t try too hard to reinvent the genre—it embraces the conventions of military and fugitive thrillers but does them well. The result is a story that feels familiar in the best way, like a great action movie you can’t turn off once it starts.

Ranger has been convicted of killing his wife and escapes through a mishap in transport. As he wanders, he ends up helping others who are downtrode. Because he is a fugitive, he has to avoid the authorities but his sense of doing the right thing is still so very strong. In this book, he tries to help a young woman and her young son. He goes to a former fellow soldier for help but is he on his side?
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
What is really going on in the small town and what can be done to help? It is a wild ride with many unexpected twists. Does he manage to stay ahead of those chasing him and still make the difference by doing the right thing? I am looking forward to the next book in the series.

Good story with great suspense and action.
Frank Ranger is making his way back across country to try to find evidence that will clear him
in the murder of his wife. He is on the run / an escapee but when he stops in a
small town that is run by a drug lord, living under cover as a local farm man and comes across a woman
and her young child who are being threatened by this guy, Frank's protective instincts
kick in and he pauses in his cross-country trek to help protect them.
Really interesting story with great character development and good pace to the unfolding.
    Frank is a good character.
    Looking forward to more.

This is my favorite genre and it’s been getting harder and harder to find time to catch up with all the authors and books.

Filled with a collection of great characters good and bad, yes of course maybe a little far fetched, but also filled with action, strong characters, gripping pace.
