    These books are so good! They have everything you could possibly want: aliens, true love, spicy heat, mates, tentacles, danger, snark, you name it! It makes my little geek heart happy to see so many pop culture references. I absolutely adore River and Kai. Their crazy friends and family are also pretty bada$$ in their own right. This book is sweet and funny. River is his irrepressible self, while Kai is his besotted tentacled alien boyfriend. If only they could catch a break in the case of the alien drugs, alien bad guys, and Royal assassins. The first book was one of my favorite new finds for 2022 and the sequel did not disappoint me! (Also who can possibly say no to more adventures of Captain Starblade and Lord Vardox?)

    Two months ago, I was completely oblivious to the magic of Chloe Archer. Now I can't imagine my life without River, Kai, Captain Starblade, Lord Vardox and the rest of her amazing characters.

    Book 2 picks up right from the first book and the adorable Christmas novella. Team A N A L is trying to figure out the identity of the drug dealer and Kai and River are waiting for the shoe to drop with River's relatives. But a new book means new challenges too. Like Kai's ex showing up like a bad penny and that's just the beginning. But no matter what happens, these guys are so incredibly fun to read. Every page makes me want more and more.

    I love the way Kai goes along with all of River's dates, even if he does so a bit begrudgingly. It's clear that he adores River and that just melts my heart. River is crazy and zany but super smart and I couldn't love him more. He's the best. They both are. I honestly don't know how I'm supposed to wait for another installment. I guess I'll just have to keep re-reading these until it arrives.

    Sci-fi nerd River is settling into his relationship with his tentacled alien boyfriend Kai. They’re both also working together for the Alliance, trying to track down an elusive drug dealer working to expose the presence of aliens on Earth. The reappearance of Kai’s old boyfriend trying to get close to him again doesn’t make things any easier.

    This second book of the Tentacular Tales series continues the hilarious adventures of River Sullivan, a young man very into contemporary science fiction and author of an erotic serial of his own, which turns out to be read throughout the galaxy. Once again, you can expect lots of references to popular science fiction series, especially Star Trek. The references generally aren't obtuse, so you don't have to be a trekkie an expert in Dr Who to get most of them. You certainly need to have read the first book before this one.

    River remains a bright ray of sunshine despite concerns about his mixed heritage and the possibility intergalactic assassins may be after him. The young man is certainly very intelligent, although his personality often leads people to underestimate him on that front. River identifies some issue aliens are having settling on Earth and comes up with some truly “interesting” ideas to address them. It can seem a little over the top that he identifies problems and solutions that his team haven’t thought of, but I’ve worked with organizations that are stuck doing things the way they’ve always done them and don’t see issues until someone new points them out.

    The book is filled with laugh-out-loud scenes, but there’s a solid story driving the plot. The developing relationship between River and Kai drives the story, as the two work towards formally moving in together. Kai may be an alien, with some significant quirks, but his emotional responses are very believable and relatable.

    I am totally in love with River. He brings the humor that never stops. 🤣 I can't wait to read the next book. I hope we get a book 📖 about Benji and Mal too. I so want to see how that situation turns out. To be honest if I to guess I would say that the MOLE in Team A.N.A.L.'s mitts is Adein. He doesn't like River. I think the person trying to have him killed might be the Royal his mom was supposed to marry. That Royal would be my number one suspect. It would one of those you don't be with me then you won't be with anyone type of situations. Just my opinion 🤷. I so hope there's more than just 4 books to this series. I want a story for Benji and Mal, and also, Evan and Zoin.

    I'm a very impatient reader and when I saw that this book had 411 pages I almost didn't read it. I did start it and while I enjoyed what I read, I decided to not finish it and went to the last chapter to find out what happened and immediately started laughing. Soooo, I decided to read the next to the last chapter to get a little more of the ending of this book. Again with the laughing. At that point, I decided, what the heck, I'll try to slog through 411 pages. I'm so glad I did. This book is very funny and as I read I realized I was enjoying it very much. River is such a larger than life character and Kai his long suffering love. The onesies section had me nearly on the floor from laughter. All of the main characters are fun and add so much to the story. I also liked the emails between Starblade and Vardox and the letters from fans at the beginning of each chapter. The only things I had a problem were the cliffhanger (needed but still unwelcome from my point of view) and River's constant swearing. That usually doesn't bother me (I grew up with seven uncles) but some of it seemed like it was just put into the story out of context and for the shock value. Otherwise, fun book.

    I waited for the audio to be released because of how fantastic Greg Boudreaux was narrating the first book of the series. Honestly, if it has Greg Boudreaux narrating, then I'm likely to enjoy it, and I did here.
    This kicks off pretty soon after the last book ended with River and Kai getting pretty serious. Unfortunately, we have scheming exes and assassins to deal with.
    More zany ideas from River that usually work out and plenty of steamy scenes. I particularly liked the fan mail emails.
    Mal and Benji's story is set up nicely too!

    For being a book where an assassin may be coming for one of the main characters, this remains really very light and fluffy. River is rather relentlessly positive and bright, and (almost) every alien he meets does tend to become enamored of him, or is already enamored of him through his writing. This puts a fairly light platform through the whole story even as it deals with threats. It did actually feel at times like it was maybe too fluffy, that the forward progression of the plot was getting a bit lost through that relentless positivity as River makes new and ridiculous plans. This made the book feel a little tiring at times. It did manage to find its course forwards though, and it solved some puzzles, introduced new ones, and even managed to hash out some emotional concerns. Still an intriguing series, just a little dimmed but the constant fluff.

    Archer does it again! I think stories that span a number of books can be difficult to get right, with the following books sometimes feeling a bit like ‘filler’ or losing their momentum, but this doesn’t. The same great humour, sass and great sci fi references continue throughout which is also what I loved so much from book 1. We get to find out more from some of the loose ends from the previous book, but also some new storylines open up as well which was great. Overall a brilliant, enjoyable read and yet now I have to begin the wait all over again for the next one!
