Elora's Song (The Caragh Chronicles, Book Two) Kindle Edition

4.5 4.5 out of 5 stars 28 ratings

A renowned troubadour in the king’s army and a noble lady raised by nuns—once childhood sweethearts, they’re reunited years later by a mutual love of music.

Orphaned at a young age, Lady Elora spent most of her childhood raised in a convent where singing came as naturally to her as breathing. But as the age to consider taking the vow approached, a visit to her uncle’s home in Carisleau changed everything—she met Gerard de Castille. Despite the love that blossomed between them, the naïve and confused Elora rejected Gerard’s proposal. Years later, an unexpected encounter at a tournament thrusts them center stage once more when Gerard, now a famous troubadour, seeks Elora’s help in a royal musical performance. However, there is unrest in the kingdom of Edan and trouble soon follows. During such tumultuous times, can love sing in their hearts again?

Three young women, bound by friendship and faith, seek the Lord's will in their lives in The Caragh Chronicles. Each book brings a tale of love and faith in a medieval fantasy novella.

What a sweet and beautiful Medieval Story!
Lady Elora, orphaned as a child, has been raised by nuns in a convent where singing became her second nature. But as her time to take her vow’s approaches, she visits her uncle’s manor in Carisleau where she meets Gerard de Castille and falls in love with him. But when Gerard proposes to her, she feels unprepared and rejects him. Years later, they unexpectedly encounter once again at a tournament at her uncle’s home and life throws them together once more as Gerard, now a famous troubadour, needs Elora’s help in a royal musical performance. But things get difficult as there is unrest in the Kingdom of Edan. Can two former sweethearts find love again in spite of such turmoil? Can they learn to trust each other again?
This was a beautiful and touching story! I loved the main characters, Elora and Gerard, they felt relatable and were easy to love. Elora had a kind heart, she was always serving others, and even if she was more on the reserved side, she was strong and determined. Gerard was a handsome hero and his love of music made him all the more attractive. He had a hard time to trust Elora after her rejection, but she slowly worms her way past his defenses and into his heart again. I had little trouble imagining them because they were portrayed so vividly by the author. The plot is engaging and an easy read, it never dragged. There’s action, intrigue, adventure and a very sweet romance of second chances. Also, there’s a faith theme about trusting in God that didn’t feel preachy at all. The way they lived their faith felt natural and appealing. The romance was sweet and clean, the way I like them.
All in all, a novel I highly recommend! I look forward to reading more of this series too!
I received a complimentary copy from the author but wasn’t required to post a positive review. This is my honest and unbiased opinion.

Elora is a shy yet strong and selfless woman learning how to know her own heart as she is torn between potential love, church, and duty.
Gerard is a good and talented guy who has been rejected before and has to decide if he is willing to risk it again. The story has adventure, scheming, conflicting desires, sweet friendships, growth in faith, overcoming of obstacles, and of course romance as the book asks the question if love can stand the test of time. This is a sweet and quick read.

The second chance story of Elora and Gerard is such a sweet, captivating read. I couldn't put it down and read it in one sitting.

I received an ARC copy of this book, and all opinions are my own and voluntarily given.

I enjoyed this sweet romance in a medieval setting. I especially liked the rich historical elements. The author described period details of architecture, dress, dance, music, entertainment and political atmosphere without ever slowing the story down. She did a fine job of showing the stark contrast between the lives of the nobility and common folk.

A beautifully written story. Enjoyed the narrative and the way it kept your interest right until the last page..
Easy reading. A great historical background, quite out of the usual run of stories.
Waiting for the next book by this author.
