Murder in Cherry Hills: A Small-Town Cat Cozy Mystery (Cozy Cat Caper Mystery Book 1) Kindle Edition
Kat hasn't been back in her childhood hometown of Cherry Hills, Washington, very long before a murder next door thrusts her into a police investigation. She doesn't intend to get involved, but what choice does she have when Mrs. Tinsdale's now orphaned tortoiseshell cat shows up on her doorstep looking for help? After all, Matty was the sole witness to her owner's violent death and might just hold the key to solving this case.
But who would want to see the elderly Mrs. Tinsdale dead? Was it a fellow animal rescue volunteer, driven by a hidden agenda? Or perhaps Mrs. Tinsdale's money-hungry daughter could no longer wait for her much-needed inheritance. Kat also can't discount a local veterinarian possibly harboring dark secrets. Then again, the culprit might be someone entirely unexpected.
It doesn't hurt that this investigation puts Kat in close proximity with Andrew Milhone, Kat's old childhood friend turned handsome lead detective. But how can she persuade a feline eyewitness to reveal "whodunit"? Kat's not sure yet, but she's not going to give up until Mrs. Tinsdale's murderer is brought to justice—even if getting to the chilling truth means putting her own life in danger.
All of the Cozy Cat Caper Mystery books can be enjoyed as standalones but will be better appreciated as part of the series. The books are light, fun cozy mysteries featuring an animal-loving female amateur sleuth, lovable and not-so-lovable quirky characters, and a page-turning mystery that needs solving. None of the books include cliffhangers, bad language, or graphic scenes.

- Reviewed in the United States on September 5, 2023Spent the whole day reading this from beginning to end. Storyline just flowed from chapters, characters were believable and intreging. Best of all, were the animals and how they interacted with each other and each character.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 30, 2023Kat hasn’t been back to her hometown in several years & even stated when leaving that she would never return. As she is going out her apartment door, her next door neighbor’s cat, Mattie, is sitting in front of her door. As she is returning Mattie to her own apartment, Kat notices her elderly neighbor’s door is ajar. After investigating, Kat finds Mrs. Tinsdale dead inside. A short read with some action & suspense.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 2, 2021Kat Harper is back in Cherry Hills, Washington, and trying to reacclimate herself to small-town living. One morning, Kat Harper finds her elderly neighbor lady’s cat, Matty, outside of her apartment door. Upon trying to return the cat to Mrs. Tinsdale, Kat finds her neighbor dead. After calling the police, Mrs. Tinsdale’s death is classified as murder. Kat is sure Matty is the only witness to her owner’s violent death. Kat decides to “help” investigate Mrs. Tindale’s murder. With several suspects, Kat has her work cut out for her.
Murder in Cherry Hills is a very simple, low-key cozy mystery. The characters are one-dimensional without a lot of development. While enjoyable to read, the story is short and somewhat rushed. I didn’t have a hard time getting into the story and finished it rather quickly. If you’re looking for something short, sweet, and doesn’t require a lot of thought, pick this up.

- Reviewed in the United States on July 3, 2023This a good read. It's short but still has a good mystery. I highly recommend it. I think Paige Sleuth will have a good series.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 21, 2019While the idea for this story was cute, everything was a little too convenient for the heroine to discover about the murder. There was very little misdirection and things just sort of seemed to “happen” with little actual investigating on Kat’s part. The kitty cat finds the murderer’s earring (which somehow the forensic team completely missed when they surveyed the scene??) Then she just “happens” to see the murderers torn earlobe the next day. Too convenient with no other suspects or Investigating! Then, to top it all off, Kat confronts the murderer who confesses to everything without a fight at all! There was a perfectly logical explanation she COULD have given to explain her presence at the murder scene, but she doesn’t even try! She just confesses!
On the plus side, the characters were interesting and had a good backstory. The descriptions of the cat’s behaviors were spot on, which was cute, especially to other cat lovers!
Overall, I would not recommend this book unless you are looking for a super simple, super short “mystery” that isn’t really too much of a mystery.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 4, 2023It's a quick read. A nice little story. The crime was solved very quickly, not a long drawn out affair.

A quick, not too complicated read for when one would like a pleasant distraction. Enjoyable characters. I'll be elated If the rest of the series is the same

5.0 out of 5 stars Enjoyable Easy Read
This was a short, easy read which I really enjoyed - just right to dip in and out of when you're having a coffee waiting for a friend to turn up!

4.0 out of 5 stars Very enjoyable
I really loved this, its only fault was that it was way too short!
When Kat finds her neighbour murdered, she ends up with her neighbour's cat - and an urge to show the detective, who turns out to be a friend from her past, that cats can be witnesses! What can she do but prove this by finding the murder?
Very well written, with lots of humour, good dialogues, a good plot and very likeable protagonists. Oh and not to forget Matty the cat!
A short story, not taking longer than 1-2 hours to read, but these 1-2 hours are filled with pure entertainment! Just lean back and enjoy.
I want more!

5.0 out of 5 stars Cosy cat caper
Great book to read, different to what I normally read but still interesting to read. I am won't give much away but it's different to have an animals point of view on things, great way the author did this.

4.0 out of 5 stars A nice easy read
A nice short mystery with a likable main character, a headstrong cat and a easy to follow plot. Would be better if it was longer and you had to work more to find the culprit but still good .
