Flipped (Cocky Cops and Cons Book 3) Kindle Edition

4.6 4.6 out of 5 stars 167 ratings

It’s Roan O’Shea’s world and we’re just here for the ride. And what a ride it is…

After a lifetime of living in fear (and by other people’s rules), Roan’s determined to use his ill-gotten talents and money to turn the quaint, quiet town of Sanctuary Mills into his own little slice of heaven. Living under the alias Flynn Gallagher, Roan is on a mission to undo the evil of his past, and win the hearts of his new neighbors, by spreading his own brand of joy and light. But, just when Roan thinks he’s pulled off the ultimate con, an FBI agent, a murder, and a mystery threaten to expose his past and his intricate web of identities and secrets.

It takes a special breed of criminal, and a massive set of steel-plated testicles, to pull off a Ponzi scheme targeting organized crime’s heaviest hitters. Agent Sherman Mathis has spent months hunting for Cillian McGregor, and every lead has been a dead end. Except Flynn Gallagher. The jet-setting wine enthusiast and blogger is the only victim of McGregor’s baffling scam who isn’t dead, in jail, or slammed a door in Sherman’s face, but he’s not the perfect source our agent was hoping for, once they finally meet. Sherman’s hopes for a lead vanish immediately and he begins to suspect Flynn is hiding something deeper and bigger than McGregor.

A small town like Sanctuary Mills should be child’s play for a master strategist and showman like Roan, but he learns the stakes are higher when his heart starts calling the shots. This time, he’s got his sights set on the ultimate prize and Roan won’t rest until he’s won Sherman’s trust, and his heart. He’s just got to solve a murder, come clean, and flip a Federal Agent.

Flipped is a sequel to Snatched and can be read alone but will contain many Snatched spoilers!

This story picks up after the extraordinary book Snatched, which you should read or you’ll miss the full impact of what has shaped this man Roan. Roan has and is using the ill gotten money from the past to create a wonderful world in Santuary Mills for his brother Dillan and his husband Jake, and for himself. He intends to live a life he never had, free of fear and violence. He intends to make sure that the citizens of the small town he adopted live happily also. Meanwhile Sherman Mathis, FBI agent, is tracking Flynn Gallagher because of Flynn’s association with Cillian McGregor. And then there’s a murder, and then.... Oh My G!!, what a story! I confess I had tears pouring down my face towards the end because....

I voluntarily read an ARC and was not required to leave a review. Of course I purchased this book because K. Sterling is a fabulous writer and she deserves my support!

Hits all the usual notes a K Sterling book: Charismatic, likable rogue, sharp dialogue, and great plot.

The only reason I couldn’t give a five star rating as usual was because of Sherman. He was sweet, but I couldn’t suspend my disbelief enough to believe Roan would fall for him as hard as he did, nor that Sherman would a) ignore lifelong core beliefs re: the law, and b) easily get over learning about information concerning his old partner. (Sorry about the vague, but I don’t like reviews with spoilers.)

I’d still recommend the book, but it’s not one of my favorite pairings created by the fabulous KS.

I loved Roan after meeting him in Snatched. Devoted to his brother and doing whatever was needed to escape the Irish mob was how we were introduced. This book is where Roan really shines, and we get to see just how cunning, mischievous, and caring he can be.

Sherman is is an FBI agent nvestigating a ponzi type scheme with his last lead bringing him to Sanctuary Mills and Roan. He is older, nearing retirement and this is his last case. He decides to stay in town and see if he can get any closer to closing his case by following Roan.

The two are really cute together and watching Roan seduce Sherman was truly entertaining and fun! There is a murder mystery that the two are trying to solve while at the same figuring out what the two men mean to each other.

I found the whole book highly entertaining and not too heavy or angsty.

I love when this author lets the characters, and the story take on a life of their own. I won’t try to describe it, as many others have already, but creating ‘characters’ like Roan seem to be K’s special gift. AND we caught a glimpse of Denver from Lake Cliff! (can you imagine Roan with that group!?!)
K Sterling is one of my favorite authors, especially when her super-human (good) bad boys take over. Check out her Boys of Lake Cliff series and Mr Lavender- you won’t regret it.

This one ended up being my favorite in this series. Roan/Flynn is an amazing character, and I loved watching him spin his web around everyone, all with the best of intentions. And Sherman (I *love* that name!) is the perfect fit for Roan. Patient, stern, handsome...I want a Sherman of my own! LOL. Seriously, this book is the perfect ending to this somewhat grim series. It’s lighthearted, sweet, and happy. A perfect HEA for all of our guys.

This series, despite the subject matter, is so fun. I've really liked all the main characters but I think Roan and Sherman are my favorite. The author gave Roan such a zest for life even though his childhood was terrible. The only thing that I can find fault with is that the author sometimes uses phrases that I'm not familiar with and also has a tendency to write with a bit of smugness that's hard to follow. This does not keep me from enjoying the books however!! I hope there will soon be another book.

I loved charismatic, slightly insane Flynn and his romance with cranky, caring Sherman. I really appreciated the authors understanding of the aftereffects of abuse. Everyone concentrates on panic attacks, but the real aftereffects are deep and often subtle changes to the psyche and behaviour of the victims. There was no angst, however, just strong and flawed people trying to carve out happiness in living. A charming stiry.

I really liked these two characters and how they were developed. I kept laughing out loud at Roan's antics and how Sherman wondered if he was sane but decided he didn't care and loved him anyway. Very happy with the resolution of the killer - again it made me laugh. Good job. Cant wait for the next one.

Roan is a complex and brilliant rouge with such trust issues; his story is compelling and his recovery from his past is handled with warmth and true dexterity. With Flipped, K has managed to combine the page turning humour, gripping plot and heat of all her previous books with a gentler underbelly. Sherman is ACE! I loved it!

Probably one of the cutest couples you'll ever read about, with some intrigue and murder thrown in for good measure.
Works best if read in series order.

Roan needed a father figure and who better than Sherman - the sexy, silver fox cop? I loved catching up with the Irish mobster brothers and Roan's story did not disappoint. K Sterling have us her usual mix of loveable rogues, murder mystery and steamy sex scenes. What's not to like? Give it a go.
